Service can be a lot better. My meal came out first before anyone else's meal instead of all food being served at once. The waitress was more interested in her phone than serving customers. I got the Texan meal with all 5 meats. Chicken was over cooked and dry. Meats had no flavor aside from the BBQ sauce. Ambiance was good. Roomy, 2 big TV, cool lighting and clean.

On closer examination, not unlike panning for gold a nugget appears out of the slag. The Shack! In the New Mexican desert operating out of the carcass of an old filling station. A nondescript food truck that serves up the best steak sandwiches outside Philly. Affordable and huge portions. A family run business with undeniably amazing service. The steak sandwiches with perfect seasoning and pepper balance. Cheese (american or provolone)and mayo mixed in not layered. Also a must is the green Chile cheese fries. Fried golden and blanketed in cheese dappled in hatch chilies. Despite it's outward appearance and questionable locale a must! So if ever crossing the south west in a Hunter S Thompson fever dream STOP HERE!

It has a food truck parked outside but it's not operational. The food comes out of the smoke shack. It's weird but cute all at the same time. There are 2 tables outside where cats would've been worked on, between the smoke shop and food truck. The menu is small, which is nice and appropriate since its main business seems to be smokes. The food is fresh, cooked to order.

I really wanted to fill my body to the brim with an absolutely hedonistic amount of deli meats and cheeses. Unfortunately the San Simon Quiznos was permanently shut down and replaced with a Subway that is also shut down. I was afraid of getting the Noble Romans Pizza, mainly due to the fact that they advertise that they can make you a pizza in less than five minutes. One of my traveling companions purchased one of Roman's bacon cheeseburgers; he said the taste alone was making him sick. However, after covering the burger in Munchies party snacks, he ate the rest of it, so who's to say what score he would actually award Noble Romans if given the chance. I got food from the gas station that both the aforementioned sandwich establishments were once connected to. I bought one Kind Bar so it wouldn't look suspicious that I was stealing a second Kind Bar for later (I'm kind of a bad boy). I also bought a pack of peanut butter filled M&M's and a lime flavored Perrier because I like my shit on bubbles. The staff was just the right amount of aloof for my taste and the decor is as minimal as it is nonexistent. Bottom line: this place is keen. Mark your map! If you find yourself in the absolutely stunning city...? Town? I dunno... strip of highway known as San Simon, you don't want to miss this hidden treasure.

Fast forward to post-COVID, and it's been transformed into something completely different: Fancy Pizzeria, run by a family with a clear passion for what they do, complete with an oven imported from Italy. Anytime someone says Safford needs a Chili's, I cringe... not because I don't like Chili's, but because good help is hard to find in a small town. The owners here seem to understand that, keeping things lean and hands-on with very little hired help. As a result, the service from the husband-and-wife team is genuinely great... though when it gets busy, things can slow down. I've experienced that firsthand, and walked out once a couple years ago after a long wait...but I came back, and I'm glad I did. The food is, simply put, amazing. The pizza has that perfect charred crust you usually only find in bigger cities or on the East Coast. The Italian sodas are excellent. I've yet to try anything, from appetizers to pasta dishes, that didn't hit the mark. Prices are a bit higher than most spots in town, but the quality absolutely justifies it when it's in the budget. I've heard the name "Fancy Pizzeria" was intentional: they wanted to set the expectation that this isn't your typical greasy pizza joint... and they deliver on that, consistently. The dining area has expanded quite a bit recently, and the decor is creative and unique, with many of the dishes and utensils sourced from local thrift shops. All in all, this place stands out in Safford in the best way. I genuinely love everything about it and hope they can continue to operate in the years to come!

I stopped by another day and got a cheese pizza with pepperoni and bell peppers and got an acactus drink. The drink wasn't bad, it was a nice bit of sweetness for my drive home! The pizza may have parts of the crust black, but it DID NOT taste burnt at all! I really got hooked after trying my second slice. The dough is really good! Was the perfect size ;) the owner is very polite and a great conversationalist! I think she's the owner anyways! I got to sit on their comfy benches while waiting for the pizza to bake. The site is closed from 2pm - 4pm.. if you are 20-30 minutes short... I think it's worth the wait! :). Great place, even greater vibes!!
