What a cute place place to grab some food, wine or cocktail, and listen to live music! My spouse and I went on a Friday night when Brandon Munie was performing, and we got great seats up under the raised pavilion, further away from the mosquitos and overlooking the lake. It was an incredibly hot evening, but I enjoyed a frozen peach sangria, which helped keep me cool. (The fans up there didn't work, so the frozen drink was almost a necessity.) My spouse and I split a flatbread pizza and a berry salad, too. The salad was fine--it needed a lot more nuts and a touch of salt. The flatbread, though, was REALLY delicious! The frozen sangria was great, too--sweet but not coyingly so. A friend I was with ordered one with a splash of red wine on top, making it a touch less sweet and more balanced, according to her. I'll try that next time. The winery closed earlier than I expected, but the musician was great. Copperdock was still a great place to spend an evening with friends or family. Pretty good winery near the interstate. We were seated near the lake at our request. It was Father's Day and perhaps busier than usual (we can't compare), but it was later in the day, so maybe that's why we didn't have to wait. My friend ordered bruschetta and I ordered chips & queso. Both were good and I'd order them again, but there were some other appetizing things on the menu. I had 2 glasses of wine and my friend had 3. I ordered one of the Copper Dock wines--the Cayuga, which is the golden-colored wine pictured--and it reminded us of an ice wine. My friend ordered her own glass of that after trying mine. Later I tried the black n blush. Minus one star because: 1. Though we were seated nearly as far from the live music as could be, it was far too loud. It's a winery, not a concert. Turn it down. 2. My friend and I stopped by here one Sunday for lunch. It was a beautiful day and we joined a lot of others for dining dockside on the lake. I ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, and my friend had the Dockside Cobb Salad. It was loaded with toppings and she said it was quite good. My shrimp cocktail was good, nice sized shrimp. My fiancé's parents live a couple miles from this place, and we recently visited on a warm summer evening while visiting his parents. I cannot speak to the food, but we did have some wine/beers on the deck. The ambiance was fun and not too warm despite the heat. There was plenty of spaced out seating even on a Saturday evening and they had live music. Although it was clear that they do not produce any wines on site, they had a really good collection of wines with plenty of int'l bottles. The prices for a glass of wine were also very reasonable relative to what we are used to in our city. This place is beyond amazing! I had my wedding here June 2018 with the new owner. She was amazing and helped in anyway that she could she even help decorate! The room for the bride and her wedding party is beautiful and spacious. I had enough room for me and my 7 bridesmaids. The ceremony was nice as well and outlooked the fountain on the lake. There was plenty of seating for the guest. The reception hall was pretty and had plenty of room for all my guest and a area for the dance floor. Copper Dock is in a relaxing and beautiful setting in Pocahontas, Illinois, if you can believe it! I live locally and have invited many friends and family here for celebrations and parties; several weddings, graduation lunches, engagement parties, large milestone surprise birthday parties, small intimate lunches with friends. We have always been treated with great, friendly service, delicious food and live music. For my surprise birthday party, the food was delicious, presented beautifully, plentiful and it just kept coming!! (By the way, the tomato, basil, mozzarella, and balsamic flatbread and Jack Daniels wings are fantastic.) They offer a slushy, frozen red or peach sangria, which is fun and different during this summer. Their selection of wine, according to my wine drinking friends, is very satisfying. We go every year for Fourth of July fireworks and they always put on the best show which is reflected over the lake, and is absolutely delightful and professional. In the fall, we sit around gas propelled fires which just makes one happy! I'm delighted to to say Copper Dock is a lovely place and the folks are great!! Thank you so much!! read more

Customer service is essential for all businesses! This winery is just another example of poor customer service skills. I can say I would give there food 4 out of 5. Not bad. The chicken sandwich was dry. And the cheese plate need more sweetness to it other then grapes. Strawberry's, blueberries and raspberries would of helped. This is my only down fall when it comes to the food. Now when it comes to wine tasting it seemed no one knew when it opened. We asked the waiter who asked his supervisor who stated 1300. At 1300 we where waiting for the doors to open. Waiter came back and said he didn't know why it wasn't open but would ask. After 15 minutes, we got tired of waiting so I called and talked to some who said it would be 1400 when it opened. I then went up to a different waiter to ask if the restaurant and winery were two different companies. She stated no and then stated the wine room would open at 1400 because the person working it was running late. That would have been nice to know. Simple things like not having the customer do the work to find out certain information is basic customer service skills. I was then told the bartender would service us outside the bar window. When I started to order I was right away told the wine no longer on the list to order. Okay is there anything else not on the list? Really this question is really something you should tell some one before they order but I thought I'd ask. The gentleman stated to list of a row of wines they didn't have. Personally most places put black tape over the items they don't have. This would've been nice but from what I'd already seen I wasn't surprised. This place was beautiful and a gem but with the issues we had I can say I'll never come back. My Father's Day with my family was ruined. All good we took our business else where. read more

Please Note: The following review is reflective of their services as a wedding venue, and is not relective of their services as a winery. In terms of everyday, general service I would rate this winery at three stars. The photos online highlight the most presentable part of the winery, which is the outdoor dock itself. However, this dock is not available for weddings. In some cases they may be willing to rent out the top most deck, but it is not possible to rent out the entire patio area. The hall they have available for weddings is not pretty. It smells quite moldy and musty, as they do not keep the A.C. on between parties. The floor is concrete that has been painted with garage floor paint. The walls are thick, white concrete. There are no windows. The lighting looks like cheap lighting you'd expect a teenager to buy from Claire's. The ceremony site is perfect, but there is no room for the men to get ready in. The bridal suite is nice, but is in a terrible location. I had the distinct sense that the coordinator has no real control over her patrons. She mentioned that since they do not stop regular business for weddings she has a hard time keeping people from parking where the bride is supposed to walk for videography purposes. This seems like an easy fix to me. Also, her contracts were lacking, and she did not have answers to what most venue coordinators would consider basic questions. I was 110% disappointed in this experience. I'm only giving two stars because the coordinator herself is very nice, and the food is delicious. read more

Had over half an hour wait in line at the bar. Staff didn't even wash the table off. We enjoy live music so we have been before, but it is getting worse not better. Well...I had very high hopes for this place based on their website and the few Yelp reviews. Unfortunately this establishment has some challenges. Here's the good news: While the drive coming from St. Louis is long, the route is direct and easy to navigate heading east on Interstate 70 to the Pocahontas, IL. exit. Copper Dock is less than a mile north of the Interstate. The facility is new, clean and built around a very scenic large lake. They have live music on the weekends which adds to a fun party atmosphere. The have a pretty decent menu with numerous appetizers and burgers, fish and other sandwiches. We had about four different appetizers and they were good. Here's the bad news: The are horribly understaffed! The waiters needed help, the kitchen needed help and their wine shop needed help. It took over 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge our table of five. (We actually stood up and waved our hands and it seemed like the refused to look our way.) Two of us decided to go to their wine shop and buy a couple of bottles for the table. Well, the checkout line doubled as the wine tasting line on the night we went. Yes...we stood waiting while five couples in front of us tried wines, struggled to make choices and another 30 minutes later we finally completed our two minute purchase. We were amazed that they didn't have someone else handle the wine tasting and let the cashier be...well...a cashier. I'm glad I didn't have any questions about the wine before I bought it or I would still be there. Upon returning to our table we were told someone would be with us shortly. Finally we ordered some appetizers. Our waiter said he would get the app order in quickly but we should order our entrees because the wait for the main food items would be a minimum of an hour. Yikes! About 20 minutes later the apps arrived and as I mentioned at the top of the review were pretty good, or maybe we were starving at this point. Not sure but we were finally having fun. We gobbled everything down and enjoyed our wine. About an hour later the waiter informed us our order had not even started to be cooked yet and it would be another hour. I'm not kidding. So we politely asked our waiter to forget the order and we were leaving. To his credit he was very polite and upset for us, but obviously helpless to turn orders around because of the kitchen. The real disappoint at this point was he made no offer of free food or a discount on our check. What really blows me away is this place has a gazillion tables. Some with fire pits, some with umbrellas. This is a really cool looking place, but currently mismanaged. Why would you have tables to seat at least 150 people (my estimate) and not have the cooking and wait staff to make it function. I hope they can fix their problems, but they better do it fast. read more

A friend of ours told us to check this place out. It was easy to find and not far from home. We got there and although it was time for the kitchen to close, they stayed open to accommodate us. 6 of us decided to go out here on a pleasant Sun afternoon. I had never been, but was expecting a typical local winery afternoon. The outside seating area is very pretty - there is a lake with tables around. There is a deck area which also has seating available. Some of it was a double deck with stairs up to a 2nd level, which allowed the first level to be completely shaded. We chose a table out in the open. While there was a large umbrella beside most (each?) tables, we couldn't seem to arrange it so everyone at our table was able to be in the shade. Since there was a lot of sun that day, it got a little warm. I wish we had thought to pick a table in the lower deck area that was shaded and sat by the water. The service was very good - both at the bar and in the table area. It seemed like there was a lot of servers - especially for the number of people that was there. The bar tenders were friendly offering you tastings of the wines offered. One surprise that I had was that the wines were from all over - both domestic and international. I was thinking it was going to be a local winery where they were producing the wines served. There was a wide range of choices from sweet to dry, with breadth of different varieties available. My brother-in-law is not much of a wine drinker and prefers beer. Our table server told him they had a bucket of beer for $15 - which he had. There was also entertainment - a guitar player who played and sang that was really awesome. He was playing like a James Taylor style of music. At one point, someone who worked there (manager? I'm not sure) stepped in and sang. She was excellent too. The real disappointment to me was the food. It was bad. I had an order of bruschetta to start. It came on little french bread toasts which were over toasted to the point they were hard. Now granted - it was only June so local tasty tomatoes would be hard to come by, but the topping was bland and under-seasoned. Even just a touch of salt and pepper (it seemed like there was none) would have gone a long way, but with that and a little bit of chopped fresh basil and it could have been much better. For my meal I ordered the "special" which was a Jack Daniels chicken breast sandwich. With the meals you could order fries, house fried chips, or coleslaw. I opted for the coleslaw. Where to start. The chicken breast in the meat was the worst chicken I have ever eaten. It was small and thin - but the texture was bizarre - it was almost spongy. It came with a topping that reminded me a little of homemade sweet and sour Chinese - sweet with peppers and pineapple tasting (I have no idea if that's what was in it - that's just what it reminded me of). There was nothing close to "Jack Daniels" about this. Even with that - the coleslaw was even worse. I have had many many different types of coleslaw in my day - and have had nothing like this - ever. When you think of coleslaw you think of either creamy mayonnaise like coleslaw, or the sweet and vinegar type of close slaw. This was spicy - almost like a cabbage relish. As a matter of fact - as a spice / topping on a sandwich - it might have been interesting. But as a side - I couldn't eat it. I had 2 bites and stopped eating it. If you want a pleasant lake side place to go have a couple of drinks - this could be it for you. But I would plan to have lunch before you come. If the food had been even average I might have given it a 4 because of the view, service, and entertainment. read more

My sister and I took our mom to Copper Dock for her birthday lunch on a Saturday. LOTS of outdoor seating to choose from. Delicious food items and big portions. We had the Cajun Shrimp Po Boy, Copper Dock Club and Cobb Chicken sandwiches all with homemade chips. All of the sandwiches were fresh and really good! Our waitress recommended a bottle of Serena, a sweet red wine and one of their best sellers, to compliment our lunch. It was delicious. They also offer beer and liquor for those who aren't into wine. The Wine Tasting area and gift shop don't open until the evening so we will definitely be back to taste some more of their wines and check out the live bands on the weekends. read more

The baked potato was severely undercooked, veggies were cold and tasteless, and steak had zero seasoning but was actually cooked properly. First off this is a winery...the wait staff has no idea about their wine list, just shoved us a laminated sheet and said let me know when you find something you want! The service is HORRIBLE...you eat off PLASTIC PLATES AND SILVERWARE, when we were done eating the garbage just sat in front of us while the server was up at the bar area talking to her friend, another server had to take our trash away because the flies were getting so bad (being that we sat next to the water front)!!! The food is disgusting! The salad dressing is food service quality, not winery quality, the wine was gross, the steak sandwiches were ALL grissle, and they ran out of soup!! If you order wine there they will also (with out telling you) charge you $3.00 for the glass just INCASE you take it with you!!! The crappy service/food/wine ended up being around $50 for a party of 4 adults. Server never came back to the table, another server had to take over our table, and they never took the soup (that we waited nearly 45mins for) off our bill... First time visiting, and we're impressed. Lots of seating, really nicely laid out beside the water. The staff was very attentive, the food was good and there was a variety of drinks available. There are several seating areas, including indoors, for cooler or inclement weather. There appears to be a banquet hall and possibly an outdoor pavilion, making it a perfect place for a reunion or wedding reception. We ordered and to my dismay the food was unacceptable. The salad dressing reminded me of dressing you get at a fast food place. Steak sandwich was full of grissle and fat. If you are going to serve food, try to make the quality of it better. One member of our party had to wait 30 minutes for her soup. By then everyone else was through eating. If you ordered wine and you did not take the glass with you, you are out a deposit. We were NOT TOLD of the deposit on the wine glass by our server. Customers should be informed about the deposit on the wine glasses if they order wine, we were not. Also, the wine is not even made at the winery, but shipped in. The lake is a beautiful setting, but with the ducks swimming near the outdoor dining area, that could definitely be a disease waiting to happen. Food is overpriced for the quality of it. We arrived 30 minutes after closing time....typically an invitation at any restaurant to be told to leave...but not here. They met us on the porch with a smile and some options. Since we really only wanted a quick bite and to see the lake and surroundings they happily sat us along the lake and offered to open the kitchen for some smaller items. We opted for a pizza and margaritas...yes, I know its about the wine, but we wanted something different. Chris (owner??) made fantastic margaritas and shared her secret. If wine isn't your thing, try the alternatives. The pizza was fresh hot and delicious. A few tables were still filled when we left and everyone was enjoying a nice June evening on the dock.
