Usually Marriott restaurant food is decent. This one was not. Sandwich had zero flavor, the spicy aioli was flavorless, much less spicy. Just a colorful mayo. The fries maybe had been fried at some point today, but were just bland and squishy. Bacon was actually good. Service started off ok, then after specifically asking for a dessert never came back to take a dessert order. After waiting 10 min I gave up and left. Bartender wasn't the friendliest to get the check. Only place to eat if you don't want to drive. Looks like a fun place to watch a game. read more

It ended up being better than I expected. 4 of us went here for dinner on a Sunday night and everything was great despite them telling us there was only 1 server working that night. Whoever was working behind the bar ended up chipping in and everything ended up running smoothly. They took our order and we got our food all in a reasonable amount of time. We couldn't tell there was any problem if they hadn't of mentioned it. We ordered a burger, crab cake sandwich, seafood pasta and steak and all of our food was tasty and everyone finished what they had on their plates. We got 2 of the deserts and the Smith Island cake was just ok. I'd prob skip it next time. The ice cream was pretty good. When we left, they validated our parking and we were able to leave the gated lot no problem. So thanks for the good service even though they were short staffed and the tasty food. We stopped in to coopers mill for dessert on a weekday. Located within Marriott, it was easy to find and they had lots of seats open at the bar. I had wanted to check this place out since I recently moved walking distance to Coopers mill. I'm glad we walked because parking is regulated and for hotel guests only. There is limited street parking on pooks hill. The bartender was lovely and we immediately were given menus, when we told him we were there for dessert he recommended the fried cookie dough which was delicious. Comes with taharka vanilla ice cream which I loved since I used to live in Baltimore! The presentation of the fried dough balls was very pretty as well. The other bartender Zobe was a pleasure to speak to. He recommended good drinks and even whipped up a chocolate martini at my boyfriend's request. I didn't realize when I booked a reservation that this was inside a hotel but at least there was ample parking for Bethesda - that is the definite up side!!! As for the food, it was decent - the service was good and the ambience was okay. If you're looking for a breakfast buffet, this may be a better choice than a la carte. Waitress dropped the food at our table and never came back to check on us. We had to ask the hostess for silverware and napkins. This was not a great experience. We had a great dinner at Cooper's Mill on Christmas Day 2024. Our server, Jimmy, was very professional and courteous. The brussels sprouts appetizer and Korean short rib sliders were great starters. My Friday night dinner was a Kale Salad with Chicken that came with croutons and shaved Parmesan. It was a generous potion and I finished every bite. The only off putting thing about dinner was the noise level. The dining room and bar share a single open area and the bar was packed with a very noisy crowd. Maybe they were there for the 2 weddings scheduled there that weekend, but it made for a high decibel count. The two breakfasts prepared by Cooper's Mill were great. Cooked to order eggs, 8 or so hot trays with meats, potatoes, and lots of fruits and cereals and yogurts and breads and pastries. Our final breakfast was even better as our hosts added a bagel and lox station just for their guests and that was excellent as well. Food and service were excellent. read more

We have stayed at the location of Cooper's Mill (Marriott) about a hundred times and finally tried the dinner recently. The breakfast we get with our platinum elite status is always spectacular and I love the lady that makes the delicious omelette's and Belgium waffles! Everything is farm to table.The breakfast buffet has everything from oatmeal, potatoes, fruit, chicken and pork sausage,eggs and omelette station with anything imaginable to put in. SO we tried a quick bite dinner and shared the margarita pizza it was pretty good. My daughter enjoyed the slider's and was extremely full,if you like spicy foods good choice.My son was pleasantly shocked by his turkey sandwich that was actual turkey not cheap deli meat. The service was extremely pleasant.The restaurant has a huge bar and great drink menu along with tables and booths, very cozy and rustic.I would definitely go back and try a full entree. read more

The bartenders however could be more attentive to the guests and check in quicker and more often. This restaurant is a fraud as is this Marriott. Not many options when you have a dine in restaurant, and they totally take advantage. Most hotel guests will bill to room, keep your receipts. They will impost a service charge for eating at a buffett. Really when no service is provided, they will charge a service charge. We were billed over 100% in service charge - unfortunately we didn't keep our receipt - who does when you are simply signing and billing to your room. I had a conversation with their manager Ruben Reyes and he agreed to remove but they didn't. When we disputed, we didn't have any receipt to prove and they produced a fabricated receipt, go figure. read more

The potato croquettes were of perfect texture, crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside with a hint of bacon flavor that kicked it up a notch. The chicken skewers were moist and tasty over a very small bed of greens for plating. The tiger shrimp tacos had good flavors. The Grayson Farm ribeye steak (10oz) cooked medium rare served on top of baby potatoes and asparagus was delicious. The honey bee mocktail was refreshing, with blackberries, Honey Syrup, rosemary, and fresh Lemon Juice. The ambience was semi-rustic, which made a relaxing feeling instead of being stuffy. It's a beautiful space to sit and do some work or watch a sports game. There's a decent beer selection and the servers/bartenders are friendly. Unfortunately the food was a hit or miss. The miss was the forgotten bowl -- the sage pesto was clumpy and dropped on seasoned vegetables which strongly resembled frozen veggies resteamed. The vegetables were heavily wilted and the pesto had this very strange taste that I could not stomach. Lastly the poached egg was overcooked and the yolk was basically fully cooked through. The grains below tasted fine though. My consensus is I would play the safe bet and order bar food here only. Their tater tots were large rectangular pieces that were tasty - crunchy on the outside and creamy, mashed potato texture on the inside. When I called and asked how much parking was to eat there I was told there was a $16 flat rate, but that's not true, it's two hours free parking if you go there just to eat. We were excited to get some fresh seafood but unfortunately the scallops were not fresh and we spend the night expectorating that and the rest of dinner. It was quiet and a very nice ambiance when we arrived but A very loud group of raucous rowdies quickly turned the place into a old west saloon and we could barely hear ourselves think let alone have a romantic meal. The appetizers and drinks were wrong on the first attempt and then it took forever to get the corrected replacements. This place has a really nice, welcoming atmosphere as well as a great menu. Service is slow and spotty. The servers are very nice but they definitely need more staff. The food is very good! Highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich but the salads and other sandwiches looked very good as well. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly! This is much better than your average hotel restaurant so I will definitely be back next time we are in town. I'm sure that they are experiencing staffing problems like almost every other establishment so I'm optimistic that the service issues will be resolved as things improve. read more

Well this was our first night here, you would think s nice looking place like this, everything would be great. Not the case of slow service and the stripped Bass with garlic Rosetta and had ZERO taste. We told the hostess and all she said was sorry and walked away. We were surprised that this restaurant was so not crowded on a Saturday night, although admittedly 6 of us dined early. A hidden gem. It was nice to eat in a quiet restaurant where we could converse comfortably. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. However, the crab cakes seemed to have more filler than crab. French fries were amazingly good, as were the sweet/hot pickle rounds ( and I don't particularly care for pickles). I don't remember what everyone ordered, but we enjoyed it all. Watercress and arugula greens (hint...name of salad), kohlrabi, goat feta, candied almonds, sliced grapes, fennel - served with a lemon red wine dressing.
