Went there the other day for my dad's birthday and honestly it was the straight up cheese. The atmosphere is that of elegance. The food was absolutely amazing. The jambalaya is a must have as well as the cheesy bread. The place is heaven for wine lovers and I loved the dragon fruit wine. The service was great too. This place is wonderful. It's a must try! We stopped for lunch because we were in the area. I had the Giardiniera burger which was a burger with the house Giardiniera veggie mix on it. It also had lettuce, tomato, onion on an upgraded bun. Yummyness in a burger! A side salad and a fruit bowl came with it and they were spot on too. My SO had the chicken pita special which was also spot on. She said it was delish! Along with this while we were waiting we were brought pretzel bread and a wonderful cranberry tea. Terrible service experienced at the Columbus and centerville locations, but it was the centerville experience that forced us to cancel our membership of 3 years. After waiting 40 minutes for a table in the dining room, the manager no less, tried to seat us in the bar area! We could've just walked into the bar area if that's what we wanted. I suspect that they had larger groups that they were wanting to seat so that's why she blew us off. We were just a couple. Well, keep your table and keep your membership! We went to J. I had my annual "Friendmas lunch" here yesterday and we were super excited to go somewhere upscale. We made reservations, got dressed up, and off we went. Since it was my first visit I tried pulling up the menu online but was never able to. It was the strangest thing. I could pull up every single wine menu but nothing about food. It may be because there is a limited menu due to covid but you'd think you could pull it up. The restaurant itself is beautiful. We were sat in the bar area with the sun shining directly in our faces. We were able to find the shade pull and take care of it but i was a little surprised the host did not offer to. After a LONG time we were finally greeted by the waitress who said she'd be right back with cocktail menus, water and bread. She came back with water, but we had to ask got the cocktail menu and bread again. I was shocked that my friends water glass was dirty (very large red crust on her glass) . We finally got the cocktail menu, ordered drinks and received the bread. The bread plates were not the cleanest either but were not as obvious as the glass. The bread was a large pretzel bun that I had one slice of and didn't need to try again. It was very bland but that is ok because I didn't want to fill up on bread. We received our cocktails, my martini in a chipped glass, and they were delicious. The perfect kind of drink to sip on and savor. I had a "Jens Martini" and my friend had an old fashioned I think. (It had candied ginger on the rim and was yellow) I ordered the tenderloin medallions, medium rare, and it came with thinly sliced potatoes and veggies. When it came out it was charred to a crisp medium well but at this point I was hungry and the potatoes and veggies were tasty and I was not about to wait another hour so I just ate it. I was really disappointed in the meat because that's supposed to be the highlight of the dish. I had to cut some of the char off to even get a decent "flavor" of well doneness. For a $54 lunch (excluding tip) I expected more. My experience would not exclude me from returning if someone else wanted to but I would definitely not make this my top choice. I don't mind paying good money when the food / experience warrants it. read more

The meal I had at this restaurant was top 5 best meals I've ever had! And I've eaten all over the world. I was blown away at how good this was. I had the pork chop and it was so juicy and tender, I would choose it over any steakhouse steak. I was pleasantly surprised by the kale. It was cooked collard greens style and it was flavored real well. I wish there was more! The mashed potatoes were perfect as well and super yummy. The only complaint I had were the onion rings on top were not good at all. They were too big and mostly bready with a little bit of onion. I would either change the recipe or just not include them with the dish because it doesn't really go with anything. But the rest of the dish more than made up for it. We came here on a girls weekend getaway. Thanks fully there was a spot at the bar since it was reservation only but the experience was quite good. The bartenders were friendly and the Pinot Noir excellent. The chicken egg rolls were fantastic. The ahi tuna appetizer was also perfect. By the time the entree came around our appetizers were so filling and I went with something lighter. The Wedge salad was probably the best I've ever had. The best thing about Cooper's Hawk is their wines / wine club. Their wines are very sophisticated and taste great. The variety is wonderful and they have something for everybody. In terms of food, I think their food is sub-par, you will definitely find good dishes, but probably not something that will blow you away. The Asian Pork Belly Tostadas are an interesting twist on tradition Asian prepared pork belly and are worth a try. The Drunken Shrimp appetizers are good, but are a bit overpriced. read more

We ordered Brussels sprouts & said we would like to finish them before deciding how much more food we wanted. I was barely able to get in 1 bite before the server asked us to place our order. Didn't she listen at all? We hate to be a bother so we ordered. My husband wanted to try the tortilla soup so he ordered a cup. Then we stated, after that well split the salmon......... Both the soup AND the salmon dinners were delivered before we could finish the Brussels sprouts. Of course everyone loves to have their salmon getting cold & drawing fliesbwhile they eat the fish that they said they wanted to finish before ordering good. If this place wants to act & charge like a high end restaurant then they need some severe training help. The food is great but the service is horrible. Also we asked for a glass of ice which we received and praised our server crazily for. But when it was empty at the edge of the table for 2 of her visits, I finally had to ask for another glass of ice. Pay attention to your table and time the delivery of the food. If I want my food all at the same time I'll eat a McDonalds. The sad thing is that this visit we had better service than a couple months ago when we sat in the bar. We'll be ending our membership, it's not like this wine is better than we can buy at Kroger. It was the great food & service that made us sign up. So disappointed that what was once a very nice atmosphere is now no different from service at fast food. read more

We are members & dine regularly at Coopers Hawk (in Dayton) - always sitting in the bar. Reservations are easy from the App & they always accommodate our special request for a booth in the bar. We have had several servers, but our favorites are Ashley & Ivory. Both are amazing. Also, we recently had Brendan who usually works in the dining area - he was amazing. Through 3 deficient decanters, he was able to find one that held up to it's duty. He's a server savant, anticipating everything we may have usually asked for - brought pretzel bread before being asked - also swinging a 2nd loaf our way, just in case. Brought us a sample of a future wine to tease us & to recommend we save some bottles to pick up & drink extra of that variety. Lastly, the food - wow. When in the suburbs.... Come to eat, come to buy a lot of wine! When you first walk in, this place has a full blown wine shop, selling all of their own wine. Julia R and I enjoyed a late lunch with my parents around 3pm on a recent Thursday afternoon. We were seated in the bar area, which was perfectly fine, that area feels more casual. The service took a little while to start, but once our server came over, she was pretty prompt after that. I was impressed with the happy hour menu, it had a lot of options and it was affordable. Cocktails and glasses of wine were discounted to $6. I needed the spiel about the menu because the bin numbers on menu pair with food menu items, which I didn't catch on to at first. It's kind of nice that they do that. There are also apps that were on the happy hour menu and we weren't starving, so it was a great option to get some happy hour apps and share them all. We ordered Thai lettuce wraps, crispy Brussel sprouts, and bruschetta. I liked them all fine, but loved the bruschetta. Really fresh cherry tomatoes cut in half and plenty of them. How it should be! For my main dish I had Ellie's chicken piccata, it was really good. It was pretty salty though, so be aware! It was the lunch portion, but still so much food! I've been waiting for the moment for this place to open because it's closer to my house. If you love wine then you will love it here. I go here often for HH and sit at the bar. The bartenders are so nice and very knowledgeable about wine. My fav wine is the Columbia Valley Red which is a light dry wine. No kickback so it's easy to drink. I love all of their soups and appetizers! My is the chicken tortilla soup and chicken potstickers! Yum! They have really good flatbread pizza as well. The menu has a little bit of everything to choose from. As for dessert I love the chocolate covered strawberries! Fresh and tasty! You can also do wine flights if you please or do a tasting in the tasting room with your friends before dinner. I love the atmosphere here! Now if you want to buy a bottle of wine you can do that too however they have a membership for wine lovers like myself. Love the crispy brussel sprouts, and this time had the crispy Asian pork. The pork and the salad (?) was very good, but the slaw had no flavor. I had a glass of their Screen Actors Guild Red Blend, which was delicious, and would have had a second glass but service was too slow. She was knowledgeable both about the food & the drinks, & made some excellent recommendations. She patiently answered all the questions of our picky, inquisitive friend who frequently quizzes restaurant staff about everything on the menu. She brought out a few wines to try before we ordered a glass. She was so helpful!! The menu is extensive, and all the food we tried was superbly prepared. Our group had an amazing time & everyone raved about the food. Everyone was tasting everyone else's meals, and we split a few delicious appetizers too. Desserts got passed around so everyone could taste. This was an outstanding meal made even better by an amazing server. Highly recommend Cooper's Hawk. Great design, perfect setting and food. We dined here twice over thanksgiving weekend The local staff was plentiful and a bit slow at times but not unusual for a spot like this in the burbs. A newer location for this chain out of Chicago. Our first visit and was an impressive luxury dining atmosphere, plus some excellent food. The menu reminded us of Indy's Cunningham's restaurants and the scallops risotto with asparagus menu entree was nearly identical except unlike Cunningham's, here there were more scallops and larger Asparagus chunks plus fresh corn and peas mixed in, (where Cunningham's sprinkles the asparagus in more sparingly almost like herb seasoning). Our calamari was very light and flash fried fresh fluffy batter versus the typical thicker crust; a first for us and was delicious. The Brussel sprouts were so divinely crispy as requested and as an app was enough to feed 4 easily. read more

AMAZING. I'm mad at myself for waiting so long to check out Cooper's Hawk! My friends and I met up at the newest location in Centerville, Ohio, and I was greeted by a super friendly hostess with a complimentary tasting of red wine. The whole place still smells new and is extremely clean/organized - just a great ambiance. We visited during their happy hour (3-6) and took advantage of the happy hour appetizer specials, as well as the $6 glasses of house wine. Each appetizer we tried is worthy of 5 stars: Brussels Sprouts - so much flavor and wonderfully cooked to crisp perfection. Hummus - for someone who isn't a hummus fan, I couldn't keep my hands off of this! Pita chips for dipping are a nice touch. Egg Rolls - I've seen these types of egg rolls in other restaurants, and they didn't disappoint. I really liked the dipping sauces that were provided. Sausage Flatbread - the flatbread is very thin, which isn't my preferred type of flat bread but it was DELICIOUS. We weren't sure how all of the ingredients included in this item would taste together but I would order this again. We tried flights of wine - the moscato was VERY sweet - sweeter than most moscatos I've had before. I was a fan of the Coopers Hawk White and my friends loved the Rose. I visited the restaurant on December 14. We had reservations for 5. I came a few minutes early and was told to stand in a certain place and they would come and seat me. I waited quite a bit more than a few minutes. Finally, the pleasant hostess asked if I would like to be seated. I said that I would considering I am 81 years old and was carrying two large gift packages and my purse. A man took me to a crescent shaped booth that was definitely too small for five people. I told him so, but he said it would easily sit five people. I told him this was my first visit, and I certainly was not impressed. I apologized because I thought my tone was a bit harsh even though what I said was certainly the truth. I waited for my friends and wondered why they were late. Well, they had come in after me and was told by another hostess to go stand by the wine wall. They waited and waited, and one friend came into the seating area and found me. The hostess who dealt with them was quite unfriendly and, I suppose, would have kept them waiting even longer. Later we saw her frowning at other people. Nice way to greet guests. In the meantime, my server asked me if she could get a drink for me. I ordered tea and told her I would order something else when my friends arrived, not knowing they were being detained out "by the wall". My server could not have been nicer and more friendly. She was and continued to be wonderful. When my friends cam and told me that one person was sick and could not come, we managed to squeeze in to the cramped area by putting things behind us and risking them dropping on the guests at the next table. We also filled most of the area under the table. I will say that the food we received was wonderful. I have only compliments for the food and the server. Again, the problem was the table and the attitude of the man who sat us and one of the hostesses. With just four instead of the five we thought were coming, we were very cramped and when food started coming there was barely enough room for the food, drinks and plates. It was difficult not to have your sleeve in food or to avoid knocking over drinks. Incidentally, there was many empty tables that would have accommodated us much better. I will never go back to this location. They have no regard for the comfort of the guests. The food is good, but many restaurants have good food as well as comfortable tables and friendly hosts. read more

A lovely chain winery with lots of locations all over. Usually I have thoughts about chains and that the bigger they get the more they lose their charm and standard of service- not the case here. Loads of wines to choose from. Anything from sweet to dry and also a full bar. I did see they do a wine of the month you can purchase too. I started with a caesar salad and a crab & lobster bisque. Both were perfect. The soup was creamy and had large chunks of lobster. Truly sinful and worth the calories. I ordered the pistachio crusted grouper and it was amazing. My husband got the trio medallions and we decided the grouper was the real winner. Pro tip- if you're into desserts try some of their house made chocolate truffles! read more
