Our beloved cat, Percy, went missing from Cooper Mountain Kennels on Friday 8/9/22. We received a call on Saturday 8/10 to inform us that Percy managed to escape from his kennel and then clawed his way out of the juncture of ventilation tube in a window. (See pictures.) The owner of Cooper Mountail Kennels, Doug, took full responsibility for losing our cat. He admitted that the latch on the kennel was loose and that the ventilation tube (through which Percy escaped) was not securely attached to the window. We are heartbroken. We actively looked around Cooper Mountain Kennels for one week, but had no luck finding Percy. The owner allowed us access to the space and worked with us, meeting us at the kennel so we could look. He also placed cameras, food, and live traps repeatedly. While the owners of Cooper Mountain Kennels were very supportive in the search for Percy, the truth is that Percy never should have been able to escape. We kenneled our cat because we wanted to keep him safe, and because of poor conditions in their facility, Cooper Mountain Kennels made it possible for our cat to escape. (Additionally, while the owners did acknowledge fault in this matter, at no point did Doug apologize or express any remorse.) After about a week, I retrieved Percy's items from Cooper Mountain Kennels. I asked that Doug notify us if they have any sightings or any additional information. At that time, I strongly suggested that they make the repairs necessary to ensure that no other cats could escape and that no other families would need experience the pain we have endured. Doug assured me that they would. I have no proof that these repairs have been made or that Cooper Mountain Kennels is a safe place to board any pets. Percy remains missing. We have posted information on Nextdoor and Facebook and other social media platforms. We have connected with Bonnie L. Hays shelter and veterinarians. We've canvassed neighborhoods, posted multiple fliers, and have gone door to door in nearby neighborhoods. Unfortunately, we have had no luck in finding our cat. We desperately miss Percy. My daughter is devastated. Cooper Mountain Kennels had one job to do--to keep our cat safe. And they failed miserably. read more

We have been going to this kennel for more than 15 years. It changed ownership in the past 5 years and I'm no longer happy or comfortable with it. The prices are way too high. The staff seems very detached and nonchalant, unlike the previous owner. They are no longer about the pet, only about the money. Boarding includes no potty walks or exercise at all, must pay extra, lots extra. Believe me this can get really expensive when you are on vacation for a week, and have multiple dogs. I was also charged for a day of exercise that wasn't provided. After spending over $1100 they argued with me instead of even offering to remove the $21. Poor customer relations. Even with the amount they charge they put a spot for a TIP on the bill. I was shocked. I brought my own special shampoo (which I would be able to smell) and paid extra for bathes and although they charged me for bathes, the dogs weren't bathed. They were not clean! They used to employ actual groomers before but now I think they run a hose over them and call it good. Wish it was the same great Cooper Mountain Kennel but it isn't. I would go elsewhere. read more

First timers. No current reviews and the website is not up to date. When we dropped off our dogs we asked to see the facility and we were not allowed in due to covid. When we picked up the dogs they were wet/dirty (not from a bath but appeared to be sprayed down). They were more exhausted then they have ever been after being boarded. Also very anxious. Charged extra to let the dogs out in the dog run once during the day and put on the spot to leave a tip. I hope I am wrong about this place but we did not come away with a good feeling. read more

I am a very picky dog owner! I take care of animals for a living and trusting my babies in someone else's care was terrifying. I was put in the situation that while I was out of town my trip was extended and my daughter wasn't able to care for my dogs. My dogs had never been boarded and I was terrified at the thought. But my dogs are a little high maintenance snd I couldn't have just anyone take care of them. Cooper mountain came to the rescue!!!! We had brought our dog here back in 2013/2014 and this was a wonderful place. It wasn't until late summer of 2021 that we brought her back, much older now, because she'd had a nice experience there before. It was a big mistake to do so. When we picked her up she looked dazed and couldn't stand up by herself. We brought her back home we discovered a wound in her fur that was already infected. It was a hole - like she'd been poked or fallen on a nail or something else sharp. She had lost her appetite, and we had to put her on massive rounds of antibiotics. She'd had some difficulty walking when we brought her in, but they assured her she'd be well taken care of, and she could still walk on her own at that point. Something happened that we can only guess at. At best, it was neglect. She didn't live long after that. The infection never disappeared, and her body was too old to fight it. It took us some months to deal with the grief, and I regret not writing this sooner, but I hope it's helpful now. I just wish they'd been honest with us and told us they didn't have the proper staff to handle an older dog. read more

Our experience with Cooper Mountain Kennel has been incredibly positive. We have two big dogs that were rescues and they can be a real handful. I tried numerous kennels prior and it was miserable for the dogs and they often came back in really bad shape. A family member suggested Cooper Mountain and it's amazing how positive the difference is. My 90lb dog who had a pretty rough early life, doesn't do well with strangers, but he loves the staff there. It was really surprising to see how he connected with staff. It's obvious how much they care about the well-being of the animals they care for. Before I had these dogs I never would have understood why it was important to find the right kennel, but this has made traveling so much easier; I wish I'd found them sooner. The staff even sends regular text/email photo updates, so we get to see them on walks or out in the yard. We have to drive a long ways to get to Cooper Mountain Kennel, but it is well worth the extra trip! read more

We have been taking our dogs here for about 12 years. Throughout the years our dogs love staying at CMK. When they come home whether it was for a few days or multiple weeks, they are always very happy and full of energy. The CMK staff truly love the dogs and cats. They email us photos of our dog playing and having a wonderful time. We do alot of travelling and CMK is first on our list when boarding our dog. read more

For many years we used to take our 2 dogs and 4 cats to Cooper Mountain Kennels when we went on vacation. Unfortunately a new management took over last year. We were charged an extra day for our 4 cats for arriving at 12.15pm. 15 minutes later than noon. When I dropped them off I noticed that the pens were not sanitized. I could see debris from the previous occupant. It is essential to keep such a small space clean. We always felt that the previous owners took great care of our pets and they would always add a little discount to the bill due to the large number of pets in our family. I no longer feel I can trust this boarding facility who seem more driven by profit than keeping customers happy and confident in the care they provide. read more

We have been taking our little Silky Terrier to CMK for boarding. He loves it there! The staff is wonderful especially Emily! They keep an eye on Rufus with other dogs because he does get skidish and rude around bigger dogs when he first meets them. I love that he gets to interact with more dogs it helps with his socialization. We also tried out the grooming the other day. Absolutely the best grooming Rufus has had in the beaverton area. This is the absolute best place for our little one and we will keep boarding him and grooming him here hands down. read more

Left my small terrier mix there to be kenneled for 3 nights. Signed up online for services including grooming (haircut). Left notes as to the shortness and particulars. Picked him up and he had only been bathed and no trim or grinding of his nails. They did take him back gave him a quick trim but honestly he still looks the same. No "fresh cut" smell at all. But that's not the worst of it. I got him in my car and he could not stop panting. He drank and entire 12oz water bottle in one setting. He is only 12lbs and that's about as much as he drinks in a normal day. He downed it in 5 minutes and wanted more but that's all I had in the car. I will be using a different boarder the next time I travel without him. Sorry Jax!!! read more

** Both of our dogs were diagnosed with kennel cough and the younger one it turned into pneumonia resulting in over a $2000 vet bill ANYONE ELSE HAVE SICK DOGS AFTER THE MEMORIAL WEEKEND?? If so please reach out, we are still trying to figure out what the problem is. Took both our dogs here for the Memorial Day weekend, the check in process was good and the lady was very nice. Throughout the weekend I called to check in a few times and each time was told both dogs were doing great. One of our pups went in limping a little and when I asked them how she was doing they said great and no more limping but when we picked her up she was still limping. Makes me believe that they weren't actually giving me real feedback and just saying great. Now to the pick up of the pups, first off they were actually out of food, not sure how because their food was measured and they should have had two extra meals (just in case our flights got delayed). Then the biggest, they ended up charging us and additional $130 more than we were quoted, they said this was because they decided to use two different kennels to board our pups due to their size, this was not discussed at check in and we had booked them both in the same kennel because they enjoy each others company. When I tried to discuss the additional charges the gal said she couldn't do anything and then the gentleman released our dogs into the lobby before we could even finish talking and paying, as you can imagine our pups were very excited to see us and that basically ended the conversation. Now onto the aftermath........*********** Two days after picking up on of our pups started vomiting and then dry heaving and then the next day our other dog started the same and uncontrollable pooping. The next day we took them to the Veterinary to get checked out, which cost $500 per pet for xrays and medications (still no diagnosis). Now on day 5 both dogs are still dry heaving and one is still having uncontrollable poops even after being switched to a blan diet as per recommended from the Veterinarian. Today we called the Kennel to see if there were any other cases reported as well as address the additional charges with the manager, promptly told that there were no other reports of sick dogs and expressed zero concern. I thought this would be a great place to board as it had nice outdoor play areas but definitely not worth it if we now at this point have paid over $1500 for boarding and veterinary visits for a weekend get away. Just hope our pups recover soon. read more

This is the place we take our dogs to stay when we are going out of town for more than a night or two. Its is a bit of a drive but well worth it. They took great care of our completely insane Basenji (think wild African dog of the Congo who tended to view strangers as chew toys). And now as he as passed on they laud attention and love upon our much friendlier labs. Granted they always treated Pharaoh with great respect and even got him to be pretty friendly toward the end. The runs are set up very nicely with a heated indoor area with a door they can close off to the much larger outdoor section of the run. Two dogs can easily share one of these runs and not be on top of each other. They will walk, play and socialize with your dog for a fee of course but all very reasonable and the dogs really love it. The groomer use to bathe and pamper our four footed piranha when no one else dared even try. And she takes excellent care of our crazy duo now. Well worth the trip as you will never have to fear that your dogs are not being loved or treated with care. They do an excellent job. read more

On the rare occasion when our family needs to go out of town, we have to find someplace to keep our dog. Now, she's not a "normal" dog by any stretch of the imagination. She is huge, and she is absolutely terrified of any strangers. She won't bite and she's not aggressive - she just cowers as far away as possible from the offending party. Familiar people who aren't family are only slightly better. She has been this way since she was a puppy (I'm told she takes after her mother), and while she has gotten better, she still has major issues. So, when we needed to find a kennel to keep her in, I looked very carefully at our options. Cooper Mountain came highly recommended, and they were very friendly and professional over the phone. So, we gave them a try. They were terrific! They were very sensitive to Roxie's issue, to the point that when I went to pick her up after her stay, rather than forcing her out, they took me in the back to get her. They offer all kinds of little extras, from cuddles and treats, to play yard fun with other dogs. The kennel and grounds are clean and neat, and they are always quick to respond when I contact them. However, the best recommendation I can give is that Roxie didn't come out any worse and has not shown any more hesitation than usual when we have taken her back. Note - try to book as far in advance as possible. I'm not the only person who loves this place and they book up quickly - particularly around major holidays. read more

I wanted to add a quick update to give a better idea of how caring the staff is here: I picked up my pup from CMK a few weeks ago and a few hours went by. She started crying, limping and wouldn't go to the bathroom, but was eating and drinking. I called CMK to ask if they noticed if she had gone #2 while she was there. They said yes she had, she was acting fine and to please let them know when I figured out what was wrong. I ended up taking her to the vet and it was a minor anal gland issue due to her diet (easy fix). During the next few hours the staff of Cooper Mountain Kennel called to make sure my dog was okay. This place is beautiful! It was a ways out there so I wasn't thrilled at first and the cost seemed a little high (until I thought about the over head), but I heard about it from a friend and decided to give them a try. When I got there the first this I did was take a tour, and I suggest everyone do the same in any boarding facility. This location is huge, both inside and out, lots of room to play. And it is very clean, that I appreciate. The gal Emily working the front desk was very friendly and efficient and Kim was very informative and helpful. Will not be taking my dog back to cooper mountain kennels. The first time that I took my dog to the kennels was great. We were gone for an extended period of time, and were under the impression that our dog was playing with other dogs and getting exercise all day. However this was not the case. When we picked her up the second time we were informed that they are kenneled all day except for 1 time out in the yard a day. I also had her get a bath which I was time was an extra $20 which turned out being $40 for a bath. They also informed me that she had went to the bathroom on herself after her bath but they cleaned it up. They did not. It was still everywhere on her. That is the last time I will be taking my dogs there. read more

Really sad and disappointed by our experience :( We did a test run months ago and from what I understand that was under different ownership. We decided to book a full week feeling confident in our initial experience and in short order lost all confidence. I can never reach anyone by phone - despite this and out of desperation for our travel plans I left my dog in hopes it was an anomaly. However, tried and true his stay was no less than disappointing which has left me no choice but to cancel future reservations and book elsewhere. We took our two cats here while we were on a week-long vacation. We couldn't go inside to see their space due to Covid but we were able to see it from the outside and they had a roomy suite of windows that looked out onto a yard. They were able to do what they liked doing at home--watching the world from the window. Unprompted, the kennel staff emailed pictures and a status update halfway through the week. When we got home, the cats seemed fine and there was no transition period for them to be comfortable in our house again. read more

This place came highly recommend to me by friends who worked in the veterinary field with me and I have not had any problems till this past Christmas. I have been holding off on writing this review in hoping they would correct the situation, but they have not. I took my 2 dogs there for 7 days for Christmas and I booked a couple months ahead. I got a quote in an email and everything seemed fine when I dropped them off. It was not until I picked up that I was told that they charged a $20 fee per dog to pick up after 12pm, and a $3 fee extra per dog per day for the holidays. I would have been fine with all that if I had known this when I dropped off. I told them the time I was picking up in email form and verbal. When I asked the receptionist they told me that the owner of the kennel didn't tell the front staff in time about the pricing changes during the Christmas season, and therefore a lot of people were not quoted correctly. I don't blame the front staff, the kennel was taken over by new management and they apparently don't know anything about customer service or care about it. I am okay with kennels setting prices higher during Christmas, they should, they are packed, but not telling people then expecting it at pick up is just bad business. My dogs also had terrible diarrhea all over my house so clearly they were not following my specific food instructions. To end this story I will be finding a new kennel and I hope this place gets shut down. read more

I brought my 4.5 month old poodle puppy here for the first time. I was celebrating Christmas a bit late with my family in the neighborhood. She was there for 4 hours. When I came to pick her up, she was in the yard with the attendant and 2 other dogs. He was on his phone as the dogs wandered around his legs. He nudged them away from him and then he saw I was there. I asked how she did, since it was her first time. He said, "she likes chasing other dogs", I was a bit dumfounded. I asked if she was aggressive. He said, "no, she was playful, but because she chased other dogs, I had to separate her". I didn't know what to say really, because in my opinion, she was doing what dogs do. When I put her in the car, she was very hyped up and panting. I don't think she got the care I expected. It was a chilly but sunny day, perfect for allowing pups to enjoy the outdoors. I have the feeling she was kenneled most of the time she was there and allowed outside moments before I arrived. Stella is a playful pup. We have a dog park in out apartment complex. Yes, she does chase dogs that run around the yard, but mostly they are running and she's trying to head them off at the pass. I guess she's saving her energy. LOL She always backs away from more aggressive dogs, because she just wants to play. His attitude was a bit to be desired. As I gave him my credit card, he asked it I wanted to add a tip. At the time, I did, because I believe in tipping, but honestly it wasn't deserved and I won't be going to CMK again. After reading some of the recent reviews, it appears that there has been management change. read more

Management and employee training at Cooper Mountain Kennel is in dire need of improvement. I boarded my pooch here twice and was shocked at what I experienced. I have used many kennels around the globe for my pets and this was the worst ever. It wasn't just one failure by a single employee that prompted me to write this negative review. It was actually several layers of incompetency that paved the way to my coming to pick up my pooch only to find that he was checked in under the name of another customer whose name and address had no similarity to my own. Pretty scary to know that my little guy was being fed and cared for with instructions for a completely different dog and if there had been an emergency, I would not have been contacted! It should be noted that I clearly provided and spelled my name and my pet's name when I made the reservation AND repeated the same information when I dropped my pet off. Here is what one would expect when paying premium prices for pet boarding in a similar setting. This is based on what I have experienced before and after my horrible experience at Cooper Mountain Kennels: 1. Verify the customer name and address at the time the reservation is made. DO NOT randomly pull up customer data by the name of a pet and fail to verify customer details. There are many pets with the same or similar names. 2. Verify the customer's identity AGAIN when the pet is dropped off by having them view and sign a registration form or by asking several basic questions consistently and without fail before checking the pet in. 3. Provide a report card at check-out to let the pet owner know if their loved one was eating, playing with other pets and having normal bodily functions during the stay. This is what any reasonable person would expect when paying $35 per day for pet boarding services and absolutely none of this was done at Cooper Mountain Kennels. read more

I have been bringing my dog here for several weeks now and they have been amazing! My little boy hasn't had much experience with other dogs and always loses his mind when he sees one. The staff takes the time to carefully socialize him and put him with other dogs that can handle his personality. I have seen a significant improvement in his behavior, he is extremely happy when I drop him off and pick him up and he sleeps like a rock when we get home. Couldn't ask for more. I don't know where to begin--there's just so much I need to share. The amazing staff at Cooper Mountain Kennel goes above and beyond what is expected. We recently took our adopted Australian Shepherd mix to stay there for a week while out of town. Although Cody is a "mix", he is 100% crazy, in a loveable sort of way. We rarely left him for the first two years of his life, so I was nervous about leaving him. He has a habit of not eating when we are away and this worried me since we were going to be gone for a whole week. After a couple days I called to see how Cody was doing and they told me that he wasn't eating very much at all. They asked if he had any allergies so that they could try to feed him different types of food. The next day one of their staff members called me and said that they had tried to feed him baby food and another type of food, but he wasn't eating either of those, so would it be okay if they purchase some ground beef, cook it, and try to see if Cody will eat that. I was STUNNED. I could not believe that they would go that much out of their way to make sure that Cody ate something in our absence. AMAZING STAFF. I said that it was absolutely okay and thanked them for their sincere, beyond the call efforts to help Cody. I spoke to someone again a day or two later and she said that yes, Cody had eaten all of the cooked hamburger. They had gone to the grocery store to purchase ground beef and ground turkey to feed him. WOW. Over the course of the week, I had spoken with Emily (office manager), Kim, and Sarah. They were/are all friendly, warm, professional, and provide outstanding customer service. In addition, it is apparent that they all love dogs. Over the years Erica (a groomer who also works at the front desk) has always provided me with outstanding customer service as well. When I arrived to pick up Cody, Jerri (one of the groomers) was not quite finished with Cody. I had purposely not asked that Cody be groomed because honestly, I was worried that he would be unmanageable (remember--100% crazy) and that a groomer might get bitten or scratched. The manager had them wash Cody because he was very dirty and they didn't want him to go home like that. I was absolutely amazed when Jerri brought out an immaculate, fluffy, and happy Cody out from the back. WOW AGAIN. I asked her how he did with her and apologized for his bad behavior. Jerri just smiled from ear to ear and said that he was no problem at all. Unbelievable. On my way out to my car, I had the pleasure of meeting Kim in person. She shared with me that Cody sometimes stayed near her in the front office. She said that Cody thinks he's a human being and likes being around people all of the time. This it true. Kim said that Cody never wanted to go to his kennel and would try to hide under a desk in the front rather than go to the back (where the kennels are) when coming in from his play time. Kim laughed and said, "Cody is so funny!" Also, they offer: *Reasonable rates that include a daily play session with a staff member!
