Stopped in Monday for an oil change. I had received a city welcome packet of Welcome to the Neighborhood coupons, and they had provided a free oil change. It's just a small lobby w three chairs but it's all windows/doors so lots of light & see what's going on outside. Ciara is at the desk....and... what a peach is she!!! We talked my entire visit, sharing trauma stories...about cars, it made the time fly by. When I brought in my truck I asked that they check for a leak as someone said there was spots after I left. Much to my disappointment I was parked outside in WI in January during that freezing cold snap.... it cracked my oil filter housing... to the repair tune of $1400!!! She said in the roughly 11 weeks since it happened I'd lost 1.5 quarts of oil. So basically, nothing I want to delay getting fixed!! When you call, you have to leave a message and be called back. My family has been bringing our cars here for well over twenty years now. Why? Two reasons. They are the most honest auto repair shop in town and they stand behind their work. Most recently I brought my 2011 Kia Sportage in to have the rear brakes replaced. I picked up my car and went on my way. Well, some crazy sound developed and I brought it back. It turned out one of the calipers was defective so they replaced it in short time. I leave and am happy as a clam because I got my car back. I drove to work the next morning without issue. However, on the way home my car started making a horrible sound from the front. I called Cierra (who is an absolute lifesaver and amazing at her job) and she tells me to drop it off and she'll give me a loaner. This is a Thursday so the week is running out. Friday, I go to work and wait for their call. I finally get the call I've dreaded all day in the early afternoon. Cierra tells me they can't figure it out. All three have driven my car and tried to diagnose the problem and no one can. Cierra asks if it's okay to keep it over the weekend, which is fine. I wouldn't have wanted to drive it anyway. The weekend goes by and I go to work Monday morning. It's not until later afternoon when she calls and I'm thinking the worst. She explains everything that happened and the numerous hours spent on my car. They only replaced some clips that were holding my brake pads in place and said I could pick it up after work. I'm dreading what it will cost, as they spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong. When I arrive, I ask how much I owe them and they said nothing. This isn't even an issue they caused. Yet, they diagnosed and repaired it at no cost. That's a level of service that no longer exists. I was already a faithful customer but it's moments like this that keep me coming back. I brought my car in to a couple shops, and it wasn't until I brought it to Coon Rapids Service that I felt comfortable with what they said about it. Long story, but I needed my whole engine replaced. When they called to tell me what was needing to be done, they assured me I wouldn't pay for anything I didn't need. I brought it in Monday morning, and got it back today (Thursday afternoon). A whole engine replacement in 3 days!! They informed me their mechanic wanted me to have my car back by the weekend, and he doesn't work Fridays, so he came in early yesterday and today. It runs great. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place if you need your car fixed! I am extremely happy and impressed! read more

I would give negative stars if possible as this service dept will intentionally LIE, STEAL and RIP OFF everyone who comes to them. I was quoted a price before bringing my car in, AFTER they did the repair they jacked up the price. The person who gave me the quote clearly intentionally lied about the price to get me to do the repair. They take no responsibility and are fine lying to customers and ripping them off. I guarantee if you take your care here, they will lie to you. They will steal from you. They will rip you off as much as possible. Additionally their mechanics are extremely lazy and incompetent. I made my appointment two weeks in advance and was promised it would be done the same day. Well that didn't happen and they were not done until a FULL DAY after promised. As a result of their dishonesty and incompetence and I had to cancel weekends plans and lost money that had been deposited for a vacation. Despite their LIES and laziness, they did nothing to make the situation right but charge full price for all repairs less a meaningless 10% off. That 10% didn't even come close to covering the amount they fraudulently stole from me by intentionally under quoting and then jacking up the price after the fact. This is easily the most DISHONEST, INEPT mechanic in the entire metro. They are awful at their jobs (slow, lazy, and do poor repairs), but they will go out of their way to lie to and rip you off. Dishonest. I went for an oil change and had them check out the breaks because I thought I might have heard that squeak that comes when your pads get low. They called me during the oil change to say that all 4 of my break pads were in need of replacement and that I should do the rotors too because they were "really bad." They quoted the breaks and pads for the front and back at $650!!!! Premium parts or not, I don't have that kind of cash! So I told the guy I would handle it myself and he said, "Well, they will be grinding any day now so don't wait." I took my car home and let it sit for a few days until I could have a friend (mechanic at a Chrysler dealership... super legitimate mechanic and friend) help me get it done and check out some issues with another car I own. My friend takes off the first wheel and says, "you got about 50% of your pad left! Your rotors look fine! A little rust but no big deal. You have at least 10,000 miles left!" We went around to all the other wheels just to make sure and it was the same with all of them. So, at the recommendation of Coon Rapids Service, I stopped driving my car (huge hassle to coordinate with wife), bought all the pads and rotors for $180, and didn't need to do any of it. BUT THAT IS NOT ALL! My friend then tells me that my sway bar links are broken on both sides! Not a big deal but it was an obvious find for my friend that was missed by the service station. This place is amazing to say the least. It is always nerve-racking going into a shop but these guys make it as painless as possible. I wanted to know exactly what was being recommended and why after my oil change, so the front desk lady grabbed Nick from the back who not only explained everything in a way I could understand, he took me to my engine and showed me the problems.
