I first met Jacob when he came to my property out of genuine curiosity after hearing about a water…read moreintrusion issue I was struggling with. He did not have the capacity to work on my project but he came to support the completion of a difficult time. I moved into my home in February 2021--during a snowstorm--and by March, we noticed rainwater entering the house. Over the next several months, I spoke with more than two dozen contractors, most of whom had no clear idea how to fix the issue. Eventually, we hired a contractor who replaced the siding, but unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem either. That's when a friend recommended I call Jacob. From the moment he arrived, Jacob listened with patience. He took the time to hear all the details--my concerns, what other contractors had said, and he carefully reviewed all the photos I had taken. He didn't do any physical work on the project himself, but what he did do was shift the entire direction of the process. He coached me on how to speak with contractors, shared terminology I should use, and--most importantly--he told me I was likely looking for the wrong kind of specialist. Though water was coming through the siding, Jacob suggested the issue was probably with the roof, specifically the "cricket." Following Jacob's advice completely changed how contractors treated the situation. I started getting better responses and more respect. And he was right--it was the cricket. Once that was addressed, the problem was finally resolved. Since then, I've called Jacob again for advice on another project, and once again, he offered clarity and insight that helped tremendously. Jacob has become a trusted advisor. His knowledge, experience, and thoughtful communication make him someone I would absolutely trust to manage a project from start to finish. There we were, with a new range in the middle of our kitchen floor, me out of town, and no idea how to get the counter modified so we could enjoy it. Fortunately, my wife throught of Eric's Construction Company, and she called him. He promptly came and sized up the job, and gave us his professional opinion of what he thought we needed and would be happy with. His estimation was very reasonable, so we agreed, and he begun work shortly after. The job had it's own particular complications, as they all seem to, but he knew exactly what to do, and quickly and expertly worked through every one. The work was completed in 10 hours, and in two days, a PGE inspector came to review the gas connection - he arranged for their visit - and soon after, he completed the finishing touches, and we were in business. The section of the counter that has been cut out for the range (where the old top range we were replacing had been previously) looked perfect. He was right about the height of the counter being too high for the range, and his remedy, a platform under the range to bring the top level with the counter, just blended in. We were very happy working with Eric. His pleasant and professional conversation with us gave us confidence that he knew what he was doing, and the subsequent work he completed with out a hitch confirmed our confidence. His estimation was on the mark, and a deal considering the quality of the work and service he performed. I know that we'll go back to him for other home improvement construction we have in the future, and we are happy to recommend Eric's Construction to others.

Rick is very responsive, cordial, reliable, and he completed the work on-schedule. However, AvidPro…read moreis much too expensive for the quality of their work. Rick informed me up-front that he would not be the cheapest option, but that I would be paying for top-notch work. For this reason, I went with AvidPro, despite their being the 2nd most expensive of four quotes. The job was approximately 2000 sq ft, half refinish of existing, and the other half new installation and finishing. We were under a tight timeline to move in, and Rick's crew worked some weekends to hit our deadline. We really appreciated this, and the rush may have contributed to some of the issues. However, I raised many of them early on. Yes, I am a real stickler for details, but for the price, I found the following unacceptable: * visible sanding swirl marks in numerous locations * surface flatness issues * dust in finish * very visible transition of sealer & finish application in front of refrigerator (fridge slid out to finish underneath) * failure to edge-sand around the kitchen island, on the incorrect assumption that there would be a shoe-molding * drips on stairs * significant gaps have opened up in new flooring in an area that receives direct sunlight * deviations from agreed-upon approach to specific details (finish sheen, under-cutting of existing trim, stair nose, etc.) When I raised these issues, Rick was very willing to discuss but was adamant that his work was industry-standard. However, I installed and finished flooring myself on three separate occasions in our last house, and none of these issues was present. I have also seen the results of numerous professional flooring projects in my parents' houses over the years, and almost all of them demonstrated better fit and finish than my experience with AvidPro. Rick did offer to re-work some of the issues, but unfortunately a number of them could not be corrected in time for us to move in, so we opted to live with them.
