The result is outstanding, professional, clean, and built to last. For anyone who just wants the bottom line: this was a full fuel conversion completed in two days. That included removing and decommissioning the old oil boiler and 275-gallon fuel tank, and leaving behind a mechanical room that looks like something out of a trade publication. Despite the scope of the project, we were without heat for only a couple of hours. West Side committed serious manpower to make that happen, and every person on the crew was competent, polite, and genuinely friendly. If need heating work done right, look no further. For those who want the details: the old system was a floor-standing Smith oil boiler with an aged two-zone setup that had seen better days. West Side removed it, decommissioned and hauled the fuel oil tank, and built an entirely new system in its place. The new installation centers on a Viessmann Vitodens 100-W (B1HE-120) wall-hung condensing unit running on propane at 95 AFUE, plumbed into a primary/secondary system via a brass hydraulic separator that properly decouples boiler flow from distribution flow. The copper work is exceptional, with consistent sizing, well-supported runs, correct pitch for air elimination, and auto vents at the high points. Each of the three zones has its own Taco wet-rotor circulator mounted on a black steel manifold, controlled by a Taco zone controller, with individually valved supply and return lines throughout. The expansion tank is correctly sized and positioned. We also had them rough in a future fourth zone for eventual basement heat, and they executed that plan without skipping a beat. West Side Oil clearly knows hydronic systems at a high level. This wasn't just a boiler swap. It was a complete fuel conversion from the tank up, executed with impressive speed and craftsmanship.

After it was installed, and a gas tank position in a discreet place on my property, the technicians came back twice to make sure I was comfortable using it. John was especially helpful, gave me more information and showed me how to use some features. I got an invoice this morning- $0.00. Surprised and grateful. Thanks WSO- Jackie

Stay away at any and all costs. Ruined my finished basement due to incompetence and negligence…read more This experience was like having front row seats, live to the three stooges. I hired this company to clear a clog in my main drain line. The pipe was knowingly backed up, and despite this, the plumber fully opened the cleanout port anyway, releasing raw sewage all over my finished basement. This wasn't an accident or an unforeseeable issue, it was a basic, avoidable mistake that any competent plumber knows not to make. The result was sewage flooding my basement, ruining flooring and walls, creating a serious health hazard. Never mind the "waste" splatter in my bathroom as well. The most shocking part was the response. After causing the damage, the plumber left quickly and told me to "call a cleanup contractor," taking no responsibility whatsoever for the destruction he caused. No attempt to mitigate the damage. No ownership. No professionalism. This was pure negligence followed by abandonment. I trusted this company in my home and was left with thousands of dollars in damage and stress because of their incompetence. If you care at all about your home, do not hire this company. One reckless decision turned a simple service call into a disaster, and they made it clear they have no intention of standing behind their work. I called another, competent plumber and he fixed the issue in under 15 minutes.

Steve and his company installed our mini-splits in my house over a year ago in December/January…read more24/25. We paid $20,000 for two units. They worked fabulously for the first 8 months- we live in a Cape Cod built in the 50s with no heating devices upstairs. The bedrooms were warm and cozy in the winter, and cool in the summer. And they were so quiet! However, since installation, Ash has been flaking and ghosting me on appointments! So the background is that our mini-splits started pumping out cold air in mid-November '25. So I called for a service request, they came out, fixed it, and it only worked for a few days. I called for another service request a few weeks before Christmas, and I was told that someone would be at my house on a Friday - and no one came out, or called me to let me know they weren't. The next day I called, and they said they would come out that day [Saturday]. Their van broke down and they weren't able to come out, so Steve said he would come to my house the following day. He basically ghosted me all day until 6pm; he was out of state, and he nonchalantly replies "I was going to [come out to you] but the boiler [at my in-laws' house] had other plans for me lol." So he tells me that he would be at my house the next day, and he was and he did temporarily fix the mini-splits. He also told me that he would text me every day for a couple of weeks to make sure it was still working - and he didn't. The mini-splits broke down again. So one of his techs comes out to service it, it doesn't get fixed, and they said they "made an appointment" for April 1st. April 1st comes by, and no one has called or texted me about my service appointment. I tried to be nice and patient and give them a little time, so I wait until April 7th to text Steve, and I get ghosted again. So I call the business last week. He sounded like he understood my frustration, and said after he hung up with me, that he'll text me an appointment date. He doesn't. So I call the next day, and then he tells me we would have an appointment today on the 21st at 930 - and he doesn't show, and he ghosts me through text, and when I call the business, I get an AI voice mail instead of speaking to an actual person. So I now I have $20,000 mini splits in my house that don't work and I need to find a new HVAC company. It takes a lot for me to even leave a 1 star review, let alone a 1 star and an actual written review. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt over and over again, but since they're ignoring me, I don't really have any other choice.
