My friends tell me to get to the point, so: Southlake, 2026. My stylist had quit out of the blue, just like Lars, though as far as I know no butter was involved. The long-time stylist before that... well, back in St. Olaf we'd say the herring had left the barrel, and we'll leave it there. Lesson learned. So there I was, desperate, at a location I'd never visited, and I didn't know a soul. I booked online and picked a name at random from the list: Hannah. In St. Olaf, that's how we picked the mayor, and it only went badly twice. The receptionist greeted me like an old friend, and out came Hannah with a big smile. The haircut was perfect. The service was what really won me over, though: the jokes, the banter, the laughing back and forth. It felt like we'd known each other for years, and I'd only just sat down. The second visit was just as good. The cut was perfect again, and it was done so fast I was almost suspicious. Hannah noticed, and kindly offered to keep the clippers running and pretend to cut my hair, if that would make it feel longer. Zoom zoom, back and forth, buzzing away at the back of my neck and cutting absolutely nothing. I haven't laughed that hard since the Great Herring Juggling Incident of '52. Back in St. Olaf we'd call her a gerfloofenhaarschnipper, which loosely means "one who makes your head look good and your cheeks hurt from laughing." Book with Hannah. You won't regret it.

Best part is I called yesterday to speak with a manager because I got my official result back from the doctor. So she brings him out with wet hair and I get the impression that she's telling me that she's done. I tell her I can't offer an opinion of what it looks like because it's wet. The woman at the front desk assured me that they don't send people home with wet hair that she was just trying to see what I thought of the cut in case she needed to do anything else. Anyhow he goes back there to have his hair blow dried so we can see what it actually looks like and then she brings him out to me with wet hair and tells me that she finished. When his hair dries I'll be able to tell if it's a decent cut or not and see what it looks like but it's 100% not even close to what we showed in the photo of what he was wanting and it's 100% not the service that we asked for The other men that were there all seem to be very happy at the bar and hanging out and visiting with each other so I think that works out well for them. When we arrived we met our barber, Ashley, who was already waiting by the front, she was professional and ready for us. For the style all we said was "cool dude haircut with a lighting bolt", we were open to ideas and Ashley took that and helped guide us to what would work best.
