This was our first visit to Cool Hand Luke's, and it definitely won't be our last. We chose to sit on the patio, which was clean, comfortable, and made for a very enjoyable dining experience. Bob ordered the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. I had the salmon, and it was absolutely delicious. What really made the evening stand out was our server, Antonia. She was friendly, attentive, and professional from start to finish. She made us feel welcome as first-time guests, checked on us at just the right times, and helped ensure everything went smoothly throughout the meal. The service felt genuine and never rushed. Between the excellent food, the comfortable patio, and Antonia's outstanding service, we had a wonderful experience. It was my first time here... Walking in, there were a LOT of people waiting. I had never been here before, so I don't know what the protocol is/was. Not knowing if they do open seating at the bar, thinking it was possibly all one area for the restaurant. I walked to the front the hostess was some what helpful. I felt a little judged when she gave a little giggle when I asked questions of where the bar was, is it open sitting, etc. We went into the bar, sat at the bar and the bartender was very helpful. We tried one of the spring drink specials. A Just Peachy Marg and Strawberry Marg I am sure mine would have so delicious, but it was a tad sweeter than I would have liked. The person I was with got the Strawberry Marg and she said it was a little too sweet too! We ordered an order of the potato skins... They were on a happy hour menu and it was a great portion for 5 bucks and pretty tasty. Wish ranch would have come with them as well as the sour cream. I finished off with a tall 805 and to be honest... I felt it was a great price... $8. I swear it's been more at other chains. We had a family dinner on a Thursday night. The restaurant was fairly quiet when we arrived, but our party of 5 still ended up waiting about 20-30 minutes to be seated. Compared to my last visit many years ago, both the food and service felt like they've declined. The biggest concern was the service--staff seemed stretched or inattentive at times, and we often had to look around for our server or ask multiple times for assistance. Overall, it wasn't quite the pleasant dining experience we were expecting, especially considering the price point. Hopefully this was just an off night, but it did affect our experience. read more

Went on 8/2/2026 at 11:55am and noticed on the door it said they opened at 12pm but the door was opened and when we went inside we asked the host if we were early and she informed us their times have changed to them opening at 11am. So we let her know it was 5 of us and I was assuming she was going to seat us right away because there was nobody waiting and no sound of people. She informed us it would be a 10 minute wait. After 10 minutes of waiting I went to use the restroom and noticed the place was empty. Not one single worker (other than the host) or customer in sight. My wife and I had been here several times before, over the years since they opened, and always had a good meal. Here are our thoughts on our most recent visit on 4-15-2025. The ambiance is solidly western, comfortable and inviting. The seating was prompt, the server came to take our drink order in a reasonable time, but the way the staff was buzzing around, we chose to combine our drinks and meal order. The food was brought out promptly, beginning with the Portuguese beans, a signature item along with bread. Both we as good as we remembered, though the beans did not come with a spoon to serve them from the small cast iron bowl, and so had to use our forks. The steaks and baked potatoes followed in a few mins, I noticed that my potato was cold, so much so that the butter wasn't melting. Hmmm, never seen that before. The toppings were generous though, and overall, had it been warmer would have scored high in my book. The steak was cooked as we like them, and the value was good. I am trying to get us both to down order a bit so we stop taking food home to sit in the fridge. It rarely tastes as good on day two. My husband and I have been going to Cool hand Luke's for many years. I don't know if it's changed hands but the absolute worst martini my husband has ever had. And to make matters worse it was in a martini glass. The waitress didn't even know what a martini was plus she had the personality of a wet dish rag. The salad was disgusting. The blue cheese seemed like it was from a plastic bottle no blue cheese crumbles on it. The bread was undercooked the beans lacked flavor. We both got prime rib. It was the worst prime rib I've ever had. It was like they put a bottle of salt on it. Mine was so tough that I had a hard time cutting it the only thing that was good was the baked potato. We would go once a month and take clients . The staff working there look like zombies they don't make eye contact with you and we will never go back. Someone needs to teach the bartender how to make drinks and teach the waitresses how to serve and get a new chef. Also the man serving the drinks was so rude when my husband said this isn't a martini he just shrugged his shoulders and walked way really fast. I spent 90 bucks on two steak dinner takeouts-We like this place because it's close and seemed to be decent but quality has become less and less. My New York steak was fatty, chewy, and did not break down- it was stringy...? Completely inedible I had to spit out every single bite I tried. I swear it must be lab grown meat. Literally horrible with fake grill marks and almost like an artificial smoke flavor added? What a joke. My "fresh" broccoli was as if it was rolled in sand. And everything was salty. We enjoy the food but the service in the Saloon area is consistently lacking. From my experience the servers are slow to greet, slow to get drinks out, they don't check on us during the meal for refills or making sure everything is good. I placed an order for pickup, but they gave me the wrong order. I called to see if we could get it fixed, and was totally shocked. They made it right and even delivered my food. I have never had any business go out of its way to make things right and go above and beyond what I would expect from any other restaurant. We went for a graduation dinner and were so grateful they could accommodate our last-minute party of 10. Our waitress, Mackenzie, was super attentive, and Manny was quick to clear any extra plates to make room for us. The whole staff was great! Now the food--everything was delicious! We had the steak bites, mashed potatoes, onion blossom, and bacon-wrapped shrimp. They brought out fresh, warm bread and some beans served in the cutest little cauldron-looking dish. Called before hand to ask about a reservation. Was told I did not need to make one, as they are pretty open on a Saturday night. Once me and my uncle showed up we had to wait to be seated. Once we were seated we ordered drinks. They weren't the greatest drinks but decent. When we ordered our food I asked if my soup or salad can be substituted with a second side which I wasn't able to. So I opted for a salad then ordered a Cesar salad which was an over $5 up charge. I thought that was not acceptable as it's a very common salad choice but just agreed to it even though at that point I might as well have asked for a regular salad and add the side I wanted for the charge. Once our food arrived on the skillet it was not hot but lukewarm. My uncle had a baked potato with the butter on it not melting at all. In regard to our stakes they were pretty plain. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was cooked really good but still plain and dry. Our server was not the greatest very slow and once we were given our bill she took awhile to return to pick it back up. In regard to the ambience it was alright. Nothing exciting or lack luster, the age of the restaurant did show itself with the vibe as my uncle said it's been there for a really long time. Sometimes they have specials for 2 steaks with baked potato. It's close to where I live and has consistently good food. Service for take out is also good and quick. Today my family and I stop to have dinner, we waited at the lobby for good 5 minutes then the guy cleaning the tables said he was gonna call the hostess/server but nobody came, we waited at least 15 minutes then the lady comes out and said that the dinning room was closed it was 7.45pm, online and the sign in the door says it's open till 9pm, she offer the bar, we have 3 kids and 4 adults and we don't drink alcohol, at the end the lady made us wait 15 minutes just to tell us the diner room was closed, she could have said that sooner our kids are hungry, we like the food we live I. Modesto and we didn't mind driving to have dinner here but after this experiences I don't want to come back there is plenty more options available for a restaurant to turn costumers down is crazy. Went to Cool Hand Luke's for dinner with my boyfriend. We had a delicious and crisp onion blossom. My boyfriend and I both had tasty and juicy steaks that were perfectly cooked. The potatoes were nice and soft. For dessert we had a cowboy cookie, which is kind of like a pizookie, and it was tasty and gooey. We sat in the saloon and had wonderful service from the bartender, Isabelle. She was very knowledgable about the menu and checked on us often but not too much to be bothersome. I had the rib eye, I ordered it rare and it came out well done, not very flavorful. The baked potato was very dry and the skin was almost burnt.
