My son has been coming here for a year or so. The salon itself is perfect for kids - train table and legos in the waiting area, and movies to watch in the cute car hairdresser chairs. Needless to say, my son loves it there. Now to the bad stuff... the haircuts are always uneven and look like I took the scissors to him myself. My son is excellent at sitting still too (zombies out on the tv), so this is purely a skill level issue. Last time we went there, the hairdresser was more thorough than usual, but cut him behind his ear with blood dripping out. She didn't say anything to me about it and pretended to not see it. When I pointed it out, she asked me if that was there before we came... seriously???? It's red and bleeding from where you stabbed him!!! I had to instruct her to disinfect the wound, she wasn't going to do that on her own!!!! She finally went to get an alcohol wipe and wiped the cut. I was really upset about this as I don't have confidence in how often they disinfect their tools. Also, if you try and call to see how busy they are and to get the current wait times, you will be rudely told that you have to get there to get the wait times. They should try something like "currently it's 20 minutes, but that could change between now and when you get here". read more

The concept of this place is great, but it's really kind of a dump... and WAY overpriced. The lady today told me that "it is easier to cut when it's clean" (because he was a little sweaty), but failed to mention that she would be tacking an extra $3 for an already overpriced $16 haircut. Mariam cured my sons fear of getting cut during a hair cut. She was absolutely fantastic with my three-year-old son. The last place we went to the hairdresser cut my son twice and he was scared to death to get his haircut again. Miriam made him feel very welcomed, let him watch any movie he wanted and she was very patient and just amazing with my son. She let him feel the clippers vibrate she made little jokes to make him laugh and it turned out perfect. This experience was much more than I had expected from a hairdresser. I have been taking my two boys there for years. Sure it costs a tad more- but the haircut is better quality. The kids have fun- play Lego's while waiting- watch movies, play X Box and other video games. The coupons do come in handy. I do recommend to take the traumatized kids, the ladies are patient and have calming solutions. I have seen many haircuts given while the kid is in the Moms lap. Ever since Lollilocks at Desert Ridge closed, I have been bringing my boys (now 3 and 6) here. I rarely make appointments (which I should) so I have no issues with waiting; my boys love to use that time to play with the train setup. I have had good experiences with the stylists working there (I never ask for a certain stylist) who are nice to the boys and adequately skilled for their hair cuts. They have a variety of hair products and the cashier is always keen to tell me about any specials they have going on. I signed up for their loyalty program which saves me a few bucks on haircuts every three months or so. read more

I take my son to this Cool cuts every few months. They staff is always friendly. I have learned to call ahead and make an appointment as they are often super busy and only have 2-3 stylists on average. I like that they have a train table to occupy your kiddos if you have to wait. I wish they did not sell toys. This is a constant battle with my 5 year old and I just do not see the purpose of having that kind of distraction. read more

What a disappointment! I wanted to take my daughter to get her first haircut and called to see what the wait was. I was told it was about a 30 minute wait, so we drove straight there since they said I couldn't put our name in over the phone. We arrived 10 minutes later and were very rudely told that the wait was an hour and a half!! When I explained that we had just called and what we were told, she said they had had lots of walk ins which made no sense considering it had been 10 minutes and there were two people in the waiting area. I was blown away at how rude and unhelpful the lady was, especially considering this was supposed to be an exciting first for my little one. Do NOT go here!! read more

Fabulous salon which can get a two year old on and out in less than 15 min with a great cut!

Had I done a review a year ago, I would have given about 4 stars. Even though a bit pricy for a quick trim, we liked the movie option for our little man. Friendliness of the staff (same staff members) have gone down immensely and made us feel more like an inconvenience than anything else. If walk ins are available and there is a wait, at least offer to put our name down or see if we are comfortable waiting, not just shoo us away. It was uncomfortable and awkward, especially sense no one else was even in the building. Also, the last time we were able to receive service, we didn't even receive a thank you or a smile after tipping? I've been in the service industry for 11 years and that was a huge turn off for me. The notes for my sons cut were definitely not always followed (way too short when done by someone else) but I still gave this place another shot, so I guess that is my fault. For those parents who need to take kids in for their first haircut, or one of the first few haircuts, I strongly recommend a place like this. Cool Cuts has a nice play area for kids while they wait including video game stations for the older kids. A basic cut is $16.95 which is average. You can find cheaper prices at Stupidcuts and Hateclips, but you will make up the difference by waiting at least an hour for a moron to cut your child's hair badly, and your child being scared to death in the process. Spend a few bucks more and go to a shop that specializes in kids. The kids get to sit in a regular chair or a special car or airplane chair and watch a video from a decent selection while the snippers do their work. My little boy just had his third haircut ever, and Maryam (sic) did a great job. I think she set the land speed record for cutting hair. He was seated and done within 5 minutes, and all that while having a screaming fit the way only an 18 month old boy from my family can do. They will use scissors if the child can stand it, and clippers if she has a squirmer. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation or you will have to wait (or shop with your wife while waiting!). read more

If I could possibly give no stars I would. I have been to this location now two times. First time I had an appointment and I waited for 35 minutes with a 2 year old. This was the second time I went waited over an hour with a 2 1/2 year old and than was told they couldn't get me in today by Karen. Who is very unprofessional and no patients with small children anyway. This place is a joke. Wonder why I was told when I moved here NEVER to use this place. I brought my 15 month old son in for his first haircut and I will not be going back. The woman who cut his hair was not the type of kid-friendly personality I would expect for someone working in that kind of place. She was very aggressive about trying to sell me hair products, even argumentative about other products and what is considered organic. And now that I look at his hair cut, it's uneven. I will just fix it myself instead of going back there. They do have videos for the kids to watch, but overall it does look outdated into there. I wish I had just gone to a regular place. read more

My 2 year old is absolutely terrified of haircuts, and the staff here did a great job handling his fear and suggesting things that may help calm him down. They were very understanding, and allowed him the time he needed to play and get comfortable with his surroundings. My daughter was more than happy with the haircut she received, but the price was a little steep for a child's haircut. The product pushing was also overwhelming during the appointment. I had to turn down multiple products during the course of the 15-minute visit. I may try another location for our next visit, as I'd like to give the franchise one more shot. read more

I just wanted to thank the ladies who cut my boys hair today! My 3 y/o son has sensory issues and the last time he got his hair cut he flipped out (this had NOTHING to do with the stylist, she was also amazing). I haven't taken him to get a hair cut again for a YEAR! He was familiar with the place and they have toys, and movies he's familiar with as well. They gave him plenty of time to settle in and decide if he was up for a hair cut while my 1 year old got his hair cut. He chose to sit in the car and watched Zootopia. Karen took her time with him and helped coach him through the cut. NO TEARS! He had some anxiety but it was lightyears better than he's ever been. We are so thankful for you guys. Seriously it was a big deal. THANK YOU! I totally recommend parents brining their kiddos here who are on the spectrum or have sensory issues. Great place. read more

This place is awesome. I have been taking my 2 1/2 year old son here for some time now. Lauren is the best. She has been so patient with.him. He used to cry when we got his hair cut and would never let anyone use the clippers. Everytime we go he gets a little better. He doesnt cry anymore and this last time he even let her use the clippers. His hair always looks amazing. My 18 month old son got his 1st haircut today and it could not have gone better! They asked if it was a first cut and saved some of his hair and gave a certificate. They let him sit in a car chair and watch his favorite show. There were many to choose from. We will be going back to Veronica from now on. The price was fantastic as well. Cool Cuts on Cactus is a great place for kids and adults. Besides the cool movies and other toys, the hair cuts are great. I'm surprised at the bad reviews and think they are bad spam. If you want the best cut from a former barber, make an appointment with Teresa who works part-time. Don't be put off by negative reviews. Teresa cuts all ages of hair, including my husbands bald head and wiry mustache. read more
