I HATE leaving crummy reviews, especially for local establishments. We are major coffee drinkers and love trying new coffee spots. We were on the island and visited this spot for a coffee while we were out and about. My other half opted for an iced caramel macchiato and raved about it. She was very happy with her drink. I, on the other hand, wasn't as lucky. I ordered the cool fuel, which had a very off-putting burnt/acrid taste. It tasted burnt or as if it had been sitting around a while. 3 sips and it ended up in the nearest bin. I will say that the girl working was incredibly kind, pleasant, and helpful. Maybe it was just an off day. I would try them again and update my review, because it was a cool place to visit. read more

Probably my favorite coffee shop ever. I come to LBI for a week each summer, and I come here 5-6 times during that week. They rotate their hot coffee flavors every day, and I haven't found one I don't like. Specialty drinks are a bit pricey, but the hot coffee pricing is very reasonable especially by LBI standards. Communicate with your customers and provide accurate hours of operation!! What a let down to think they would be open all week like it says on Google. And there's no sign providing insight on when they'll be open again. Also, the woman working that day failed to accurately communicate WHY there was a 40 cent additional charge to my bill. When I first came to LBI and saw that the coffeehouse I was familiar with was closed for the season, I was worried that my mornings would be filled with 7-11's finest coffees or lack there of. Fortunately walking through one of the boardwalk shopping center lead to this haven of magic beans. To compare Cool Beans to the cornucopia of indie coffeehouses that a spot like Philly has to offer would have me curving lower as far as what this cafe has to offer by comparison goes. But for assortment of beans that you could take home, and varities that you could order single serve style, what they had to offer was quite extensive. And in the end whether I went with a French Roast, a Mexican light roast, or a chocolate flavored; I was provided with that wake up call that I needed. While I might not come here for a cappucino, mocha, or other special coffee drink; I'll relish In their extensive variety of cool beans. And I'll probably pick up more of their awesome chocolate covered almonds in the process. read more

I've never left a restaurant review before, but I feel MOST compelled to on the occasion of the service I received by the owner. My husband and I walked into the shop around 7am for a nice coffee together. The shop had appropriate COVID-19 restrictions for the safety of all, for instance max 4 people at a time (a very small shop) and face coverings. The door was propped open upon entering which made the experience during a pandemic all the more comfortable. Another gentleman and a woman came in after us and we noticed the door closing. My husband, thinking it closed on accident, went to prop it open again. To the shock of my husband and myself, the other gentleman, in the most aggressive and booming tone, demanded he "SHUT THE DOOR" with stiff syllable accentuation. My husband responded, "why?", and the gentleman strode over swiftly, yanked the door from my husbands hands, replied "because I'M THE OWNER AND I SAID SHUT THE DOOR" and closed the door on my husband, leaving him on the outside. I can understand that the pandemic and state-wide phased opening during the summer season is creating a stressful environment for patrons and owners alike. But I never walked away from a retail experience feeling dehumanized ever in my adult life. It was shameful and horrific against the backdrop of quaint and nostalgic Bay Village on a sunny vacation morning. Forget the coffees, we won't be going back again. We just dropped by Cool Beans for coffee and it was fantastic! First let me say that the owner Karen is so pleasant to chat with. I couldn't decide what flavor iced coffee to have so I went with the Hazelnut and it was delicious!! My husband who is extremely fussy when it comes to his coffee went with Karen's suggestion of their French Toast flavor which he requested be made hot. He said that it was very, very good. I actually walked back to them several times a day during my recent trip to LBI. While all the coffees I sampled were great, their house blend was spectacular. If they were closer to me, I'd be there literally every morning. Pleasant staff, great variety and a really eclectic coffee themed decor. The place is small but there's ample seating outside and a pretty incredible bakery next door to complete your morning. If you're staying in Beach Haven, this should be your go to place for your morning caffeine fix; afternoon as well. Kudos! read more

The coffee selection is pretty vast (they had about 6 flavors out), they also have half/half, whole, skim, & soy milks. It's all self serve My only complaints, the medium coffee is pretty small in size about a standard small, but still relatively cheap, at $1.80 & there are no seats inside. People who complain about latte quality don't realize lattes are not genuine coffee drinks; if you judge a COFFEE shop solely on their LATTE (Italian for milk), then you are falsely judging said establishment. Overall it's a cool little place to get a decent cup of coffee that isn't a dunkin donuts, be happy with that. read more

husband and i wanted to check out this supposedly cute place hidden away in bay village... we stopped by in the evening and weren't up for a coffee but my husband was in the mood for a "fresh squeezed lemonade". we watched the employee fill the cup up 80% of the way with tap water and she proceeded to add a shot glass of lemon juice and simple syrup to the cup. fresh squeezed WHEN? after seeing that and how dirty everything was in there, i wouldn't touch any of their coffees with a 10ft pole. read more

Bought salted caramel latte 4.50 each but it's worth The price. Roasted coffee hits you followed by flavored Salt caramel. This place gets 4 stars for now cause they need to offer Some type of pastry shelf inside the store with more Options than just the bakery next door. Perhaps a taste sample of top five coffee roasts. With the absence of a Starbucks on Long Beach Island, there was nowhere for me to get coffee on LBI but Wawa. That is, until I discovered this little gem hidden in the shops of Bay Village. What a great little place! They have some really great blends of coffee and the espresso is very nice. My favorite is the java jolt, which is concentrated cold brew with milk and whatever flavor syrup you want. Really good! Now I always get my caffeine fix at Cool Beans when I'm on the island. Stopped in here to grab a cup of coffee and glad I did! This spot is hidden in busy Bay Village down a front alley and tucked in the back. It is not a large place but is crammed inside with all sorts of hot flavored coffees and specialty beans of all sorts as well as cold pressed and iced coffees. I went in the other day to get 2 boxes of Joe which was foreign to the staff. They had to call owner for pricing after I ordered 2 boxers for all of us at our rental. The girls should have told me that the box of joe does not come with cups, sugar or creamer. Really I asked? You buy a cup of coffee and it comes in a cup and you can add your sugar and creamer. To add insult to injury, they charged $38/box. I told the girl that she should have told me the cost and about the cups before she ground the beans and made the coffee. The answer: "it's gourmet coffee". I did not want to get the girl in trouble. I will never go back. With that kind of customer service, and ripping folks off the place should be called Uncool beans. I've loved their hot coffee for years but tried an iced cold brew today and it was even more amazing! Granted, I am a bit of a coffee/espresso snob, but I thought this place was absolutely terrible. Mainly, the drinks are VERY overpriced. The normal cost of a latte is $3 to $3.50 in my experience for 12 oz. At this place, I paid $4 for 8 oz, which is an almost laughably small size. Furthermore, the latte was ready in about 30 seconds, which is entirely too quick if you are making a good quality latte (taking time to froth the milk the right way and brew fresh espresso shots, etc). They basically just poured steamed milk into readymade espresso and handed it to me and it tasted awful. IN ALL, don't waste your time or money at this place. There isn't even anywhere to sit and drink your awful coffee after you've paid too much for it. read more
