I liked going to Cookies because of the ambiance and food. I was excited to have a girls night out for dinner. But the food was definitely not worth raving about neither was the service. I wanted to support local businesses during this time but they fell below standards. The potato skins had no potato in them, the salmon was undercooked, not seasoned, and had bones, the chicken was not seasoned and had canned mushrooms that were microwaved with a piece of cheese just sitting on top like it was out for awhile. This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. The food is always hot & excellent. The staff is friendly and make you feel like family. There is a fully stocked bar for a cocktail before dinner or a nice treat after dinner. I must not forget dessert. Their pies are the BEST. Decided to try it during covid19 for take out. Great experience from taking your order to the curb side delivery. Food was very fresh, warm and they placed chicken in cardboard boxes rather than foam. Food was not soggy at all and was very crispy still. Cookies has a very old fashioned supper club vibe. The thing to order there is the fried chicken (cooked to order and delicious). Double baked potatoes good too. They can make a good cocktail and all is reasonably priced. Rest of menu pretty average. Was told the poor boy sandwich and ribs were great as well. I did not care for either. Ribs are grey with a coating of sauce on top. Poor boy was just poor quality meat. All in all, don't pass this up. Solid dinner spot in the area for the best fried chicken!! read more

First time trying Cookies after hearing nothing but great reviews from people. We were disappointed in the food. We ordered coconut shrimp for our appetizer and it was over fried and lacked flavor. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken was cooked well, but the marinara tasted like Ragu. The spaghetti wasn't drained well so there was water on the bottom of the plate. The cream of chicken soup and Italian wedding soup were just ok. My fiancé ordered the Adam and Eve - fried chicken and ribs. The fried chicken lacked flavor and the ribs were tender, but the sauce was not good. If the prices weren't so high we would try it again. read more

Local restaurant that's a treasure. They do a great job on their menu. The food is fresh and excellently prepared. I like their daily specials that shows they care. Restaurant is a little out dated but not too bad. I tend to favor family owned and operated restaurants. The service was pretty good. My husband got the porter house and I got the filet and coconut shrimp combo. The shrimp was delicious but everything else lacked salt and wasn't too flavorful. The soups was good though and the homemade dressings were delicious. After dinner, though, we went over to the bar side and got weird stares from most of the patrons and decided against getting a drink. Probably won't be a regular place for us but I'm not totally against giving it another try. read more

My second visit to Cookies. First time was ok nothing special but thought we'd try again. Our server was very young and inexperienced. We did not get any bread basket like all the other tables around us. I ordered a strip steak medium rare with baked potato husband ordered ribeye with double baked and our friends ordered salmon and coconut shrimp. I was served an overly well done steak that was really tough and chewy with a double baked potato. The server offered to get me a baked and I could take the double home. I said no worries I'll eat the double baked. When I mentioned my steak was over cooked he said, "Oh, I'm sorry. " and walked away. My husband agreed my steak was really tough. Everyone else's meal was fine although they were disappointed about no bread... we didn't notice bread baskets until we were finished eating. Excellent choice for a restaurant, if you're in the area, or even if you have to drive a bit. The poorboy steak sandwich is the best in the greater joliet area. Make sure you get extra garlic butter. Brought my mom and dad here for a nice Sunday dinner. Found the place to be as I expected. Old but with a supper club vibe. Started the meal with a cup of clam chowder. Worst I have ever had. It was a cream soup of course but there were thick gobs of what I can only think (and hope) were flour that hadn't mixed in everywhere. Completely inedible. Ordered the chicken dinner special. Came out very hot and fresh BUT completely tasteless. Chicken had no taste, mashed and gravy were ok but not homemade and the green beans had no seasoning whatsoever. One our favorite restaurants. You can not find a better Prime Rib or Sautéed White Fish with mushrooms and grilled onion. Actually we have never had a bad meal from the homemade soups, all the sandwiches and entrees you can't go wrong. The bartenders make super club style drinks, I like the Brandy Alexanders. Small place down the street from my home. Older environment but there is a bar and opposite side has the restaurant. I am a major fan of their sides. Their twice baked potatoes are phenomenal! Seriously! Their spaghetti is even really yummy. Staff is always welcoming and service is always super quick. The only complaint I had was once ordering a steak there and for the price it was very bland, no seasoning or flavor. However it could have been a fluke. Cookies is a small town, locally owned restaurant and bar. I was pleasantly surprised at the staff as I stopped in for a few drinks and food. Came here for dinner with my husband a couple months ago, and kept meaning to write a review. Cookies is one of those restaurants that have been there since the beginning of time, that keeps pretty much the same menu and decor. I really liked the fact that it is a small town resurant that is nice and quiet, dimly lit, and not busy. But thay have been there since 1982 so they are obviously doing something right. I ordered the Queen Cut Prime Rib, and most importantly I ordered it Rare...and it was indeed rare! Alot of places can't get that right. My Husband had the Surf and Turf. Everything was delicious, prompt, and huge portions! Could not have possibly finished it! The double baked potatoes were awesome and the soup and salad were great as well. Our server was extremely polite, and made sure we were well take of. Now I'm hungry thinking about it, maybe I'll go there tonight. I recommend trying it! read more
