In Terrell for a wedding and asked a local for a Sunday morning breakfast recommendation and he…read moresuggested Terrell's Cafe. It's typical of small town cafes. Located in an old building, it's simple, unpretentious with friendly staff, good service and very reasonable prices. I thought the prices were unbelievably low. The food was good. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The hashbrowns were just like I wanted them, extra crispy. The only food complaint is the busicuit was to sweet for my taste.

We have been loyal customers of Terrell Cafe for a long time, eating there at least 2-3 times a…read moreweek for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Unfortunately, after what happened during our most recent visit, we will not be returning. My husband ordered the shrimp dinner. While eating, he found a hair in his food. He removed it and continued eating without making a big deal about it. Then he found another hair and removed that one as well. As he was about to take another bite, I noticed a long hair in his food and pulled it out myself. At that point, we called the waitress over. She saw the hair on the plate, apologized, and took his meal away. She never offered to replace the meal or asked if he would like something else. My husband ended up finishing some of my meal instead. When it was time to pay, we discovered they had only taken half the price of his meal off the bill. When I questioned why we were being charged for food that had multiple hairs in it, I was told they had spoken with the cook and, because my husband had eaten all but one shrimp, they were only willing to take half off. The amount they still charged us was $6.49. For us, this was never really about $6.49. It was about how the situation was handled. We have spent a lot of money at Terrell Cafe over the years and have been regular customers several times a week. When a loyal customer finds multiple hairs in a meal, I would expect the restaurant to simply apologize and remove that meal from the bill. I told them at checkout that we would not be returning. It is disappointing that a restaurant we have supported so often was willing to lose loyal customers over $6.49. I also feel our community should know how this situation was handled. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but how a business responds to a mistake says a lot. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the response we received. Kellee & Blue

By the time we got our drinks ordered it was 15 mins...another 15 to order food...the server seemed very stressed about was nice. Fried pickles were good and then we got 2 out of 3 of our salads. 1 salad had bugs in it and we never got our third. 20 mins later we got 2 of our kids meals and were told my sons order for rotisserie chicken wasn't available. Server came out addressed the salad and was going to tell her manager. Server came back and explained it was a gnat and their bug zapper wasn't working well(no manager yet...and very odd answer!). It had been over an hour since we were seated and had only 2 salads and 2 kids meals and we decided we were done. (We also noticed black specks in the salt shaker that was not pepper!) Manager came out looking bothered and said "I want to hear what the issue is"...we explained and she was very defensive and said they would remake the salads and the food was ready to come out. We explained it had been over an hour and the restaurant was pretty empty and we were unhappy. She was still acting bothered and telling us they had already made the food and didn't offer anything to make it right until we brought up the salad and said "well I can refund two salads if you want". After noting it was a birthday on the reservation and having family there who had previously also had a bad experience, it is safe to say we will not be back again. Place looks very nice but management needs to learn how to handle unhappy customers and the ridiculous 1 hour wait with no food (or food with bugs!) much better.

Food and Service not good at all Although I did talk to…read morethe owners and co-owners and was very cordial about it. I did give my sincere and honest feedback to them. One of the female owners said that someone left the job. I'm not sure if they got fired or they walked out. But nonetheless, I see that 8 months ago someone was complaining about the same thing that I am here to complain about. I'd like to be honest here. My steak was very dry although they did redo it again. It was dry again. I understand her husband's not a professional cook. I'd say get a professional cook for such a premium steak that we're ordering and paying . It took them more than half an hour to bring me the 2nd overcooked steak. By that time, I was not hungry anymore, despite the restaurant being empty. Maybe 2 more tables being served. My husband called to make reservations was told that they would make it a nice anniversary dessert for us. When we asked about it he anniversary dessert. The waiter told us next time call ahead of time and let us know, when we did! I'm sorry to say I don't recommend this place at all. It may be premium steak but when you ruin it by overcooking it the way we ordered then it's not premium steak at that point. It's leather . Everything's ruined by then. Worst anniversary date ever in my life. Elizabeth you were very nice, but doesn't change my experience, or how they made me feel. Never again sad but true. It was more than half empty. Pictures show proof. Riesling was the only good thing here that's why I gave it a one star . Go Riesling gotta make light of the situation otherwise it's too upsetting. 6/18/26 UPDATE : YES, to co-owner or owner that responded I did mention Id give a positive review here . I too would have appreciated you honor your advertisement of good juicy steaks and food. " WHERE EVERY BITE CELEBRATES TEXAS BEEF EXCELLENCE Steakhouse & Meat Market serves the finest hand-cut steaks, juicy burgers, and premium meats" But when things an ongoing like other reviews here, , then it's not a one time. It's ongoing and I want to give an HONEST review if they're coming to spend their hard earned money here. You've gotta be honest! Also, truthfully i wouldn't want to again come and throw my money . Why would anyone ?? Unless they like leather for meat Hope things get better for your place. Has potential just need the proper staff, cooks etc. Hope for all the best for your place. Otherwise it won't make it. Good food always wins, even over bad service. Remember that!
