I usually stop by this location when I'm on my way to work because the prices are reasonable and typically pretty good. However, today I stopped and got my usual meal. The onion rings was not good at all they were soggy as if the had been sitting and or under the light for a long period of time. This is not my first go round at Cook Out. My first visit was at the Northside Dr. location in West Midtown. A friend of mine raved about Cook Out, (new to Atlanta at the time), so I thought I would try it. I don't remember my entire order, but, I do remember I ordered a shake. I was not very impressed. After that, the restaurant was not on my radar, until early Tuesdaymorning, then again for lunch, and then again today (for lunch). I know, I know...WHY?!?! I've never been much for cookout. Though a northeastern fast food staple, this regional restaurant has grown on me. Cookouts in general deliver on their park bar b que lane of fast food. You know; dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, quesadillas, milkshakes, ect... Though nothing to write home about this restaurant is known for their awesome milkshakes and this location in particular for its customer service. As with all cookouts this location had a chic fila like drive through line wrapped around the building. They quickly adopted the chicken sandwich bullies on the block's time efficient order policy. Several attendants took orders prior to getting to the menu order machine and, pick up window making the wait time very quick. I ordered 2 corn dogs, onion rings and a banana & pineapple milkshake (pure deliciousness. Milkshake that is). The food was decent. It came out fresh & hot but, about what you'd expect out of park food in taste. My total for the meal came out to $6.41 so I recieved a fair amount of food for my buck. All in all, I'm not much of a fan of cookouts but, I definitely would come back to this location for the customer service and milkshakes alone. We arrived around 1245 for lunch, there was only one car in the parking lot, was not sure if they were open. We went in and they were open, there was one customer sitting at a table, talking on his SPEAKER PHONE. (rude) There was no one behind the counter. This was our first time so we were not sure what to do. The dining area was sparse, tables spread far apart, some of them facing the wall, guessing they do more drive thru business than dine in business. The drink fountain in the dining area was out of service and there was minimal in the way of condiments. The ketchup was kept behind the counter. This place got work to do. My comments are based on what I experience at the DRIVE THRU. The fries, cheese curds and hot dog(it's a hot dog I know) these was good. I also ordered the regular burger out west style. I was not impressed with the burger it was not seasoned and they forgot a chicken sandwich that I ordered. What's even more important is READING BACK THE ORDER BEFORE GIVING THE CUSTOMER THE TOTAL AND ALLOWING THEM TO MOVE UP. Also the recipe that is given after you pay should show the complete order. Definitely reminded me of cookout food. The burger seem to be made from hand rather than a preformed patty brought in from somewhere. The hot dog was just a plain-jane hot dog. The fries were a little limp, and the chili on the hot dog wasn't great. It was edible but I probably wouldn't order a chili dog from here again. Everything was super clean. The decor very minimalistic with a touch of country to it. The only major complaint I have is the Christian music playing over the speakers. But if that is the worst of their proselytism I can deal with it. I seriously can't get over how much their hamburger reminded me of something I would have gotten from a cookout. I got mine Texas (?) style. Came with barbecue sauce, bacon, onion, mayo, and pickle. I asked for no pickle but still got pickle. No big deal I removed it, I lived. For fast food, CookOut is a hidden gem. The menu is a bit confusing and disjointed but the food is great. The corn dogs were the best corn dogs I have ever eaten. Not heavy, you could tell that clean oil was used. The batter sweet and fluffy. It was a rare time I was left wanting more wieners in my mouth. The fries were fresh and "potatoey" and the burgers were also right up there with the best 5 Guys or even BurgerFi. The prices were almost too cheap. My family and I visited this location 12/27/19. We have enjoyed the other locations around the Atlanta area, but we were especially looking forward to this location. We are a family of 9. 7 kids that are eager to get their bellies full and have a milkshake. Our first impression from the outside was different thank other locations. Our kids noticed immediately and we all were happy to see the change. Walking inside, the register being a further distance from the front door is great, especially since it gives more room for people to enter. So far, this location has an A+. I asked my wife to get my usual order as I got our kids their seats and a highchair for one of our toddlers. We all looked around and saw different seats and tables unlike the other locations. I don't know if all locations are turning this direction or not but this is a very welcoming, bright, and wide open spaces that made us feel very comfortable. I know its a newer place but everything was so clean. The store was busy. Customers were coming in constantly. Soon, there was a large crowd that waited to order and seemed like they were waited on very fast. After our dinner, we wanted milkshakes for the family but saw the line. My wife suggested going to McDonald's for them, instead we had our two older kids wait in line while we got the other kids in our van. They were at the tail end of the line but before we knew it, they were already ordering. That was so fast. I was shocked and the milkshakes tasted amazing! I am sorry for this lengthy review but I could not wait to tell everyone about this location! It isn't the typical Cook Out. This location is great and we are definitely going back again and again!
