This burger franchise is only found in the south, most are only drive thru or a walk up windows, I can count on one hand where you can eat inside Raleigh Durham is one. They have great burgers and what they call a tray which consists of a sandwich, fries or onion rings and another item such as a cheese quesadillas or a double order of fries or onion rings. However the milkshakes are the best so thick you literally have to wait a few minutes to enjoy because nothing is coming through that straw. July-August they add a watermelon shake for the season and Dec-Jan an eggnog shake. There are too many varieties of shakes to describe. So if you ever see a cook out on the highway or while visiting those southern states do yourself a favor and check it out. read more

Stopped here after a doctors appointment in Nashville. An order for 2 chicken quesadilla trays with chicken quesadillas sides 2 cajun chicken wraps and 2 huge teas. Pulled up to the window paid for our food and was waiting while being prepared. A kid came to the window and tried to charge us for the car behind us . The woman that had taken our payment came up and asked him what he was doing. He told her trying to collect payment. She explained to him that she had already collected the payment to please hand the food to us. We asked for Cookout Sauce and barbecue sauce, thinking that we would get 2 of each since there were 8 quesadillas... Nope, one of each... The guy was rude when he handed us the food and acted putout that we asked for sauce... Dude it's sauce and not coming out of your pocket... Sorry you didn't get to charge us again. read more

We stop at this location often when driving through Nashville and the food and shakes are always good. The service can be spotty but we will give those teenagers/college kids a break. It is just a drive thru so ambiance is not a question but it is conveniently located if you are just getting off the highway for a break. read more

There is far too much hype surrounding cookout. I've been the the Lebanon location twice; both were disappointments. My first trip, the young person did not explain the menu very well to me and got the sizes of patties wrong, ending in my disappointment in a tiny, overcooked burger, lukewarm fries and a wonderful Diet Coke. The second time, I asked specifically for the largest amount of beef I can get on a burger. The server said " you want the 'huge', it's a half pound." You can see what I ended up with. This was their attempt at a 'huge' out west style. Never again. 0/10 Go across the street to Whataburger. Its far better. read more

So let me start with the good. The burgers, fries, and dogs are delicious! The nuggets are delicious according to my kids. My wife brought home a large order because we have a large family. We found out that half the order made it home and the other half was never handed to her. She said the guy there handed her the bag and told her all of it was in there. She didn't visually confirm though! Always visually confirm at fast food chains. These places are run by young people, and they make mistakes. I called and they offered and apology, it was a miscommunication. I went back (10 min drive) to get the rest. By now my teenager had already thrown a hissy fit and stormed off to her room. Some of the other kids had found leftover pizza in the fridge. The young guy there gave me the food they forgot but didn't even offer a drink or anything for my trouble. Great food, service okay... No - just no... Cook Out used to be one of my favorite places to get a burger. I frequented the Smyrna location a LOT...I can send pics. I actually haven't been to one since I moved to Gladeville 4 years ago. I was in Lebanon buying lumber and was going to grab something to take home. ARBY'S! I haven't had that in almost as long. Pulling out to go, I see Cook Out and changed my mind. Big mistake. I got the $4.99 platter - WHAT!? - YOU MEAN IT'S $6.79 NOW! It HAS Beth awhile! Burger, corndog and fries. What could go wrong, go wrong, go wrong... The burger was two very thin overcooked, miniscule, dry uneven patties that in no way weighed a quarter, or even a third pound. Wish I had taken pictures. Literally the least interesting burger I've ever had. There was no flavor I could taste. It was like eating packing peanuts. The chicken strips my kids had were okay, decent quality chicken, but the batter needed some pepper or other spices to improve the bland. We went because it was the only place in the area open at 11 PM. I'd have been better off with roller grill from the Pilot. And the tight turns on their drive through almost wrecked my van/trailer. read more

This was my very first ever visit to any Cookout and I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon. When I pulled up to the speaker I asked for a second since I had never seen the menu. The person never came back. According to my location, it was almost 9 minutes when I finally gave up and drove to the window. The person there said it never dinged. Well, it did, but the person never checked back on me. Lame. I ordered a cheddar double cheeseburger, which came with fries and onion rings, and an unsweetened iced tea. The fries were floppy and not very hot. The onion rings tasted like they came from the freezer and were baked - mediocre warm and tasteless. The burger was bland and had cheese sauce - NOT cheddar cheese. It was really disappointing. The iced tea was good. That's the only thing good about this trip. If I ever try this place again it won't be this location and it won't be what I ordered this time. I don't get the hype. read more

This has to be the worst cook out we have ever been to. The portions of the food and quality are not what they are at other cook outs. I got a burger with onion rings and cheese bites. Well 3 onion rings and 3 cheese bites are pitiful. Our usual cook out in Athens Tn gives you real portions We went about 4 today and about an hour later I was sick so now I have that going for me. We got there at 1:30am (30min before close) they didn't take our order for 25min and when they did the proceeded to say they could only serve sides. If you haven't closed yet you should be able to cook your food when we got our food they forgot our quesadilla. We also go 5 orders of chicken nuggets for each individual person but they put it in one big container making it impossible to split. It's unbelievable now you can make your business so horrible. I ordered a milkshake at this location at 8:00 at night during a typically not busy part of the evening. We waited in the drive-thru for 40 minutes. The drive-thru isn't one where you can pull out if it's taking too long, that sort of thing. So once you commit to ordering you are stuck. Once we got up to the window, they hadn't even made the milkshakes yet. I don't know if it's an understaffing issue or just operational flaw, but this is one of the worst drive-thru experiences I've ever had. read more

They were completely out of pretty much everything I wanted, burger was burnt and so was the meat in my walking taco. I ordered my burger with mayo ketchup lettuce pickles and LIGHT mustard and wound up with nothing but mustard slathered all over my entire burger with a half a droopy shred of lettuce.
