    Chili cheese dogs

Went here for lunch today while in town for business. I love a good chili dog and Coris did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and courteous. The vibe is typical hotdog stand but indoors. Great prices for big hotdogs. These are not small hotdogs so be careful if you order 2 like I did....its a LOT of food.

Do yourself a favor and just go! The service is always quick and friendly and the food is made fresh! You can't go wrong with any order but I got the Cincinnati with grilled onions and it was chefs kiss. A dog so simple yet delicious and flavorful. I ate outside because why not enjoy a nice patio. Inside is smaller yet intimate. Can't wait to go back. It made the perfect Sunday afternoon meal! The sweet tea is a must grab! It's the perfect sip of sweet.

Stopped in after running the Tough Mudder. My son has been begging to go back (we went to another location several years ago). He absolutely loves the Boston Nor'easter. He said they loaded him up with lots of beans and crispy bacon. I got the Alabama and my wife got the Georgia. She loved the pimento cheese and slaw. She said the slaw had a slight sweetness which complimented the pimento really well. Mine has lots of chili and sauerkraut on it and the all beef dogs are great quality. The buns are thick slices of bread cut half way down to form a bun and toasted. It was really good then we couldn't leave without getting deep fried cinnamon rolls. Oh man those put back every calorie I had burned.

I don't even like hot dogs and this place is awesome. Something for everybody, from chicken to all beef to vegan dog options. The buttered grilled bun is pillowy-soft and the perfect landing zone for the fillings. The sheer amount of toppings is overwhelming and seemingly endless, which just means you just have to keep coming back to try new combinations! You can't beat the price for the portion size anywhere else in town. Don't wait, check it out now!

We went and oh my that menu is huge, we all tried several different dogs and sides and i must say it's very flavorful, laid back inside simple to order. service is good!

If you're a hot dog lover then this is the place for you. It has such an East Coast/Mid West vibe and that's awesome to me. The husband had the Coney Dog (chili, cheese, onions) - their chili is like what you'd find in Cincinnati and very flavorful. I had the Ruben cause I wasn't feeling like a hot dog and it was so good. However the star of the show is their onion rings and yummy dipping sauce. Run don't walk here -it was so delicious!! I'm a fan!! The service was great, everyone is very pleasant and the food was made quick to order. I cannot wait to come back!!

Oh the options!!! Space gets a bit crowded with folks trying to pick their options before ordering. Food was made fresh when ordered. The quality really comes through! I've never had a fried bologna sandwich before, and it was really good! Their bread buns are unique and really bring it up a notch. Great lunch grab!

First time visiting. I was nervous thinking it would be greasy, but it was actually really good. I ordered the Carolina dog. This came with chilli, slaw, onions , mustard. The hotdog was good and the bread was delicious. The kids veggie corn dog comes with fries & drink. The menu is huge so I will definitely go back and try other hotdogs.

    Giant bun. Tiny hotdog

Unfortunately this is a pass for me. Few reasons. The first is the big sign next to the credit card machine that says "tips are part of wages so please tip". Tip for what. You're basically McDonalds with hot dogs. Pay your people better. Don't make your customers make up for owners not paying. The credit card machine starts your tip at 15% as they stare at you while you pay. I changed mine to 10%. Second. What's with the giant bun and tiny hotdog. Gas station hot dogs are bigger. Third. Onion rings. Way overcooked and they give some sort of what tastes like a horseradish sauce with them. You have to go back and ask for ketchup. Maybe that's what the tip is for. Handing you the ketchup. All and all pretty underwhelming. $11.77 (before tip) for 1 hot dog and some burnt onion rings. No thanks.

The hot dogs were phenomenal. So delicious and the buns were very soft and tasty as well. The service was super quick and friendly! Very limited on the seating but it is definitely worth stopping by and trying out.

Wow--our 1st time and we WILL be back! Great service, fresh and unique hot dogs and we got to stories and enjoy the weather!!

I expected fresh and flavorful --instead I got reheated and regretful! The fish and chips arrived dark brown, heavy, and dripping in oil. Not golden. Not crispy. Not fresh. This was unmistakably refried fish. The kind that looks like it was an abandoned order tossed back into the grease instead of cooked properly for the customer who ACTUALLY paid for it. Refrying doesn't make food fresh. It makes it lazy. Complements of the chef du jour! The fries tasted like they'd been lingering under a heat lamp, contemplating their life, choices. Disappointing, stale, and lifeless. And the coleslaw? Bless it. Overwhelmingly mayonnaise-forward with barely a whisper of vinegar and none of that classic celery seed brightness that gives southern slaw It's backbone. It wasn't terrible --just timid and forgettable. Which sadly was still better than the leftovers with ambition, refried fish and chips, I received. In conclusion, Fish and chips is simple comfort food but simple requires care. Fresh drop. Clean oil. Cook it once. Serve it hot. That's not a high bar. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but, I expected fresh and flavorful. I got reheated and regretful. I guess the cooking staff take Lazy Sundays literal!!

4.5 The new year is…read moreas good as time as ever to try a new (to you/me) restaurant in an unvisited (by me/you) part of the midstate. Old Hickory Blvd is to the Nashville area as Peachtree is to Atlanta: it's everywhere and nowhere at the same time and no one knows where you are if you say you're on it. Well, needing lunch on a Friday in the new year, I made my way onto Old Hickory to see where it took me. It led me to... Old Hickory and Granddaddy's Original Hot Chicken Shack. It had been on my radar for a while but I never had a reason to me in this part of the county. I decided to make time on this day. Besides the potential gastric distress I find myself avoiding hot chicken because of how colonized and commodified it's become. What was a community staple (and not a 'Nashville' food) has become something that's turned into a chain item, largely without the very people who made it a thing (creators and patrons). Incredibly frustrating. So, when I decide to eat it, I want to make sure I do so responsibly and with consideration. Hence, Granddaddy's. I parked in the ample lot and walked in to find a small dining room that smelled incredible. I was greeted with an authentic smile (you can see it in the eyes and hear it in the voice) and asked (first) how I was doing and (secondly) what I'd like. I answered ('well; thanks for asking' and 'shredded chicken sandwich & fries to go, please.'). In all my professional eating*, I don't think I'd ever had shredded hot chicken. I was going to learn that day. I sat down and watched TV as my food was prepared. After the conclusion on my show, my food was ready. I thanked the folks behind the counter, smiled, waved, and hit the bricks. I noticed that I made a muscle when carrying the bag. This was a good sign. It was also a long drive back to my house. I got home and realized why I had to exert effort to lift my food: it was huge. You definitely get your money's worth. On an over-sized bun, I had an extremely generous amount of shredded hot chicken (medium), cheese, ranch, and pickles. As you might imagine, the flavor combo was A+. What you might not have bet on, though, was the texture win of the sandwich. The soft bun, shredded chicken, creamy ranch, and crunchy pickles added up to a memorable chew with every bite. The fries weren't merely a side. They demanded your attention: a generous portion of seasoned fries that lost neither heat nor snap on the drive from Old Hickory to my home. No matter where you live in the midstate, if you profess to enjoy hot chicken, you owe it to your mouth to make it to Granddaddy's. It was one of the best lunches I'd had in a while. I still think about it. *It's true.

Grandaddy's Original Hot Chicken - Nashville, TN…read more Grandaddy's is the kind of place that reminds you why Nashville hot chicken is such a phenomenon. I came here because of Yelp and the reviews that drew me in were absolutely right. From the start the hospitality stood out. Tim, the owner, came out to greet me, and I immediately noticed he was wearing a Lakers hat. I told him I was from LA and we connected right there. He showed me some things and we ended up having a quick back-and-forth about it. That kind of personal connection does not happen everywhere, and it gave the visit an even more genuine feel. Kim was working the counter and she carried the same warmth. She was kind, attentive, and went the extra mile by walking me through the menu item by item. That kind of care makes a difference because it shows she wants people to enjoy the food and get what fits them best. When a restaurant has staff who make you feel like you matter, it sets the stage for everything else. I went with the three chicken tenders along with fried corn and greens. The greens come cooked with pork, which I do not eat, so I could only sample a little. Even so, the flavor came through and they were well seasoned. The fried corn was something different and turned out to be a highlight on its own, sweet and savory with just the right texture. Now the chicken. This is where Grandaddy's shines. The tenders were incredibly tender, almost to the point where you wonder what magic they are working in the kitchen. In other words, they had good meat. The quality was impressive and every bite was juicy. What really put it over the top was the crispiness. The crust had that perfect crunch that holds its own bite after bite, not soggy or greasy, just clean and bold. That balance of texture and flavor is what hot chicken is supposed to be. I have had Nashville-style hot chicken in different places around the country, and there are some strong contenders out there. But after eating here I see why Nashville owns the name. There is a depth of flavor and execution that feels rooted here, and Grandaddy's delivers it in a way that makes you understand the hype. The price is right, the service feels genuine, and the food speaks clearly for itself. If you are visiting the city or even if you are local and want a new favorite spot, Grandaddy's Original Hot Chicken should be on your list.
