FAIL from the start. Was told extra patties were a no go. Was told I would have to order additional burgers and put them together... first off... I don't eat bread... adding patties is a thing nearly everywhere save a few hold outs... this should have been a red flag bit I thought I'd go for it... ordered the 'HUGE' burger which was alleged to be 1/2 # pre cook weight... Not even. Well perhaps... The staffers were friendly enough but swore up and down they were NOT allowed. Like I said, very-Very few places can't figure this out... Now, so as not to be a very difficult type... I order just the said burger with no bun no grilled onions no ketchup cheddar style... I was delivered american cheese and grilled onions with the bun. . Thought about it, took it back to the counter told the young man they failed again adequate it really wrong and walked out with no drink, no food... my choice but by this point aggravated outright. I'm sitting in the parking lot writing this and a young lady approaches the vehicle and wants to talk and in an effort to make it right offers to remake. I express my disdain for no added patty (I'll pay for the patties like everywhere else) policy, I decline her offer and tell her to look over her shoulder across the highway.... I explain that while I prefer small and local companies, I am headed to McDonald's where I will order a double quarter pounder with cheese, I'll order 6 additional patties and they will make it for me correctly without bun or other stuff I choose not to eat. Not a good start for this little company... I wont be back, nor should any carnivore who eats this way. ****Update**** Decided to hit the local Wendy's instead. The menu is a little confusing to read because theres so much on there in the drive through. When ordering its simple and fast though. And most will be patient when asking questions. The sauces are ok. They give out hidden valley ranch cups wish isn't great for the chicken strips / nuggets. Its ur typical store bought stuff nothing special. However good to stock up on for hiking or kids. They also dont have marinara for the cheese bites. Just ranch or the other sauces like ketchup or mustard. Kind of a bummer. If you get a combo platter with hush puppies its only like 3/4 maybe. Kinda sucks. The milk shakes are pretty good. They have reasonable hours of operation as well. I dont care to dine inside. They all echo and are super loud. Not my kind of hang out. read more

Just disappointed. The chicken sandwich was only a maybe a quarter of a breast and tough. And I've never figured out why they always overpack their drinks with ice. Always make sure to say "easy on the ice". read more

I used to love this place. Good food, good prices. But they have been slacking on the food quantity. My favorite thing from here is the Chicken Nugget Tray with double cajun fries for my two sides. As the picture clearly shows...this is NOT double fries. This is ONE side of fries. And the nugget tray is supposed to come with 10 nuggets and I have been getting 8 or 9 nuggets lately, like this tray only has 9 nuggets. Cookout, pick up your game. Don't waste your time. I wish I could give 0 stars. I have been to this cookout 6 times and they have managed to mess up my order every time. I don't know who can't read the ticket, but they need to get their shit together. I'm lactose intolerant and ask for a bacon hamburger every time. I have yet to get bacon, and I ALWAYS get extra cheese. I even ask them to PLEASE DO NOT put cheese on it. Drive through, or an inside order, they still get it wrong. It's really not hard. Good staple of NC fast food eatery. Fantastic that they go against the outdated grain of Havelock and are open late into the night. The main concern with this location (and I haven't had many other locations) is the inconsistency of the food quality. Primarily the buns, which you'd think wouldn't be a problem with a sandwich-heavy menu. The buns are occasionally stale and dry, sometimes crumbling when you pick up the sandwich. Maybe keep them on a light steamer throughout the day? I'd also like to see a larger soft beverage menu supported by the chain, but it's really just the same Coke products you can get from any vending machine. This leads to the next concern, their sodas are fairly flat compared to other chains, Coke from a can typically has more carbonation than those served. Possible remedy: if you want it to have a real backyard cookout feel, just serve cold aluminum cans of soft drinks as opposed to the trouble of the fountain? Finally, an issue with almost everyone that partakes of their menu: Milkshakes. Need. Larger. Diameter. Straws. They have excellent milkshakes, make nice and dense, which asks the question why are we attempting to enjoy them with the same tiny straw used for Coke products? Every milkshake served needs to sit and thaw for at least 20min prior to attempting to drink it. My last issue is the size of the drive-thru. It's VERY difficult for anyone with a mid-sized truck or SUV to navigate the drive-thru and I just don't understand why it couldn't have been expanded during construction. The sharp corner that drivers have to take around the building to either exit or go to the second pickup window is somewhat ridiculous. read more

I was here earlier today our order was messed up so I called and spoke with Todd he told me to come back for remake which I did and it was messed up again. Missing fries and lettuce and pickle on burger. Cheese bites were cold. Also got shorted a quesadilla, very frustrating. Cheese in quesadilla was not melted hardly at all and it was cold. read more

Very good prices. Super fast to give us the food. The drive thru was a little odd as you have to wait around the corner from the first window if you are in the right lane. Nearly got hit twice. However the burgers were good and shake tasted great. read more

My husband and I eat here often and typically love it. Lately the employees have been rude and getting our orders wrong constantly. Once we got charged for fries and other things we never said we wanted. Today we went and my husband ordered chicken ranch wraps. We got spicy ranch wraps instead. It's getting very frustrating never getting things correct and getting attitude from employees in return. read more
