Pros - Food was incredible! Had a regular burger with everything on it. I was surprised to see how "homemade" the burger looked! It was kinda messy to eye but to the tongue was a different story!! Fries were cooked perfectly and were thick. The staff were fast and courteous. Husband loves the hush puppies! Cons - parking is horrible. So it's 1130 pm we just left the drive thru expecting a correct order when we reached home. Well that failed, they forgot our fries, no Cajun on the fries we did have, no grilled onions on my burger and no crispy chicken on the crispy chicken sandwich! I pulled into Cookout after hearing good things about their food. I had the regular burger with ketchup, mustard, and lettuce. The burger was cooked perfectly. A double cheeseburger tray with two sides which could include, fries, a corn dog, quesadilla, hot dog, wings, double fries, whatever you want and a drink all for under 6 bucks AND the authentic taste of a charcoal grill to boot. We love eating here but the menu is so confusing and there never seems to be the same employees week to week. Also a lot of homeless people that hang out for long periods of time here. Maybe this is their outreach and that's ok but it seems weird to have some guy watching me and my family eat our dinner. Either way we think this place is awesome! Since this location opened in Gainesville, I have been generally happy. However recently, the service has become deplorable. On more than one occasion over the past month or two, I have waited more than 15 minutes for an order. Generally, this has occurred when they were busy during lunch rush, so I can kind of understand. Today, there was absolutely no excuse for these kind of wait times. My family and I decided to stop by at 10:40 this morning. We placed and paid for our order at 10:49 (time printed at top of receipt). About 15 minutes later, the order was ready. My wife's order was correct, but my daughter's and mine were completely wrong. We brought the wrong food back to the counter, they said to keep it, and they would make us our correct order. Another ten minutes or so went by, and the food was not ready. My wife asked them again, the girl behind the counter said she would check into it and said something to the cook. Another ten minutes (at this point I had already walked to McDonald's next door and ordered a couple of 1.00 cheeseburgers, got them, and walked back), and my wife was at the counter asking again. I went to the car with my daughter, we enjoyed our $1.00 cheeseburgers from McDonalds, and my wife was still inside dealing trying to get our first order of food. Finally at 11:28, my wife gave up and left. Now, if they were really busy I could understand. But, when we ordered our food we were the ONLY ONES in the restaurant at the time. On top of that, the food we were waiting on were three BACON RANCH WRAPS! Bacon Ranch Wraps are not complicated to make. Bacon, Ranch, Cheese, and Lettuce on a tortilla. I make these things at home, including cooking the bacon, in less time than it took for them not to deliver my food! I like Cookout's food, but the service at this location is beyond horrible. If there is a manager working, he/she needs to be instructed that when the cook is in the weeds, something needs to be done. I will not go back to this location. I will continue to visit the Oakwood location, but much less frequently since it is not convenient for me. Get your act together in Gainesville, and I may become a patron of this location again, but as for right now, McDonalds has better service than this place. read more

Heard really good things about this franchise, guess I picked the wrong one to try first. Girl working the drive thru was Bsing with co worker and not one work to us as we came thru. I looked in the bag to check for mustard for my corn dogs and NOTHING. So I asked and she handed us 3 oaks, again without a work while Bsing with coworker. Got down the street and then noticed no straws and not a single napkin!!!! To add to that I asked for light ice in my drink, there could not have possibly been more ice in that drink! Not bad. Ordered and they got the toppings on the burger wrong. There was a bit of a language gap at the counter. It was what it was. The burger was a bit to well done and there was no juice in it. It tasted like a backyard grilled burger though. The prices are quite low to be honest so the fact it wasn't the greatest on that day would not deter me from trying it again. Large menu with lots of tasty looking items. Burger, fries and a coke for less than 5 dollars is not too shabby. If I go back and things are better ... I will happily upgrade the review. read more

I have been there at least 10 plus times. What I like is that they have a verity of food and at a more then reasonable place. Their food is good every time. If your in a hurry and really hungry this a great stop for you. If you are new to the area or just passing by check it out. You wont regret it.
