I found TLC via a viral food review on Facebook! Traveled 30 minutes to try their food. Awesome experience from ordering to tasting their smash burger and wing combo. It is a take-out restaurant, with limited outdoor seating, neighboring Chevron gas station and across from Lakewood Baptist Church. The food is made to order; my order was ready in 18 minutes. I got a single smash burger, fries, and kash (hot honey-lemon pepper mix) flavored wings (4 ct), and bottled drink--lunch plate combo for $21. Everything was yummy. The burger was delicious. The fries were good without dipping sauce. The wings were pretty good; they weren't fried crispy as requested, and I only tasted a hint of lemon pepper--definitely a sweeter sauce flavor. Overall, good tasting food here!! I hope you'll encounter Nina; she patiently answered my questions, aware that it was my first visit, and she offered for me to sample the TLC sauce ( house-made, mayo-based aioli). Great customer service! Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I'd make the drive again for this meal! read more

This was my first time visiting TLC. I ordered the American TLC smash burger with onion rings with a side of TLC burger sauce for dipping. The burger and onion rings were delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasty. The employees were friendly, the food was cooked and ready in less than 10 minutes, and the facility was very clean. This is now my favorite take-out place for smash burgers. Unfortunately, I live in NC. But, I will return to The Lunch Counter on future visits to the area when visiting family. Oh... my... gosh... what have I stumbled upon?! How did I not know about The Lunch Counter, located just 10 minutes from my house and open since last December? I'm beyond excited about this spot. First off, the team here is AMAZING. The siblings who run the place moved here from Boston and are absolutely killing it. Their menu is simple but perfect--burgers, wings, subs, and sides like French fries, tater tots, and onion rings. Let's dive in. The burger? Perfect. A true smash burger with a crispy edge that reminded me of NFA Burger, but honestly... better. Why? The burgers are bigger, cooked to perfection with that crusty edge, and--wait for it--no line! I ordered, got a beeper pad, waited in my car, and 15 minutes later my food was ready and hot. Their wings? Now in my top 2. The Dawg House and The Lunch Counter are my go-to spots for wings in the north, hands down. I tried their dry lemon pepper and habañero mango--both absolutely delicious. I also tried The Boston sub. Think Philly cheesesteak, but not quite. It's more like a meat-lover's sub with the perfect meat-to-bun-to-cheese ratio. I can't recall every detail of what's in it, but I do know this sub is special. It's new, so not yet on the menu, but you have to try it when you visit! Their French fries and onion rings were both excellent, but those onion rings? Wow--so crispy and flavorful. Note: No indoor seating, but they have two outdoor tables with umbrellas if you want to eat there. Otherwise, everything is neatly packed for takeout. I got the double bacon burger and my bf got the Frisco melt. We both enjoyed the burgers. The double bacon I felt could have used more seasoning but the bf loved his melt. The onion rings, tots, and slaw were all great. The lady at the counter was super friendly and gave suggestions. The only thing I found off putting about the place was the location. It's on the side of a somewhat sketchy looking gas station. They need a better sign because the only sign we saw was the side of the food truck with TLC on it. Overall, we would go back. read more

We drove almost an hour and a half to get a smash burger and some sides and let me tell you.....this is one of the BEST smash burgers you will put your lips on! The SBA (soft bun action) was on point! The staff...all super nice and we had a great conversation too. Since these are smash burgers I suggest getting the double. You won't be sorry. The flavor of these things is incredible. We are definitely going to make that drive again since they have other great things as well like regular and slaw dogs as well as wings made to order (which take about 18 mins just so you know) You will definitely be impressed with the whole experience when you go there. Well they didn't disappoint!!!! I was a little afraid the hype I was l told was going to overshadow the food. I did not, the loaded fries were GREAT, the TLC chopped cheese was delicious, the double slaw burger was great as well. Just visited this spot tonight for a double bacon burger and fries. The food is great, and a great value. Why get takeout at a fast food burger joint when you can get takeout from this gem and it'll only cost you $1-2 more? I will say this, and I hope Nina sees it and takes advice: the burgers desperately need a more sturdy bun (the double or triple patty ones most definitely needs one). In particular, the bottom bun had no chance at holding up against those 2 big, juicy patties (the juiciness might be the culprit that ruins the bottom bun). When I got back home I had to eat it much faster than I'd like, as the bun was holding on for dear life! If the bun issue is fixed - I'll be a repeat customer for sure. The Lunch Counter by (formerly) Skate Country is awesome! I had the loaded tots and a side of onion rings. They were so good! The tots were basically a deconstructed burger and tots meal. It's everything you hope for in a smash burger joint. As I entered, I was quickly asked if I was ordering or picking up. I ordered there and it was made fresh then. They also have a menu on the wall and online and will gladly help navigate it if needed. Everyone that came in, which was more than a few, asked if it was my first time.
