My favorite drive-thru meal on Catawba is definitely a tray from Cookout. There's no 5 star fast food spots near us, but Cookout is a solid 4 stars for these reasons: Menu - tons of options from burgers, to chicken sandwiches, quesadillas, hot dogs, etc and that's not even getting into the sides. We're talking chicken nuggets (love them btw), fries, cheese curds, even "walking tacos". Truly a solid menu with little to no disappointing items. Food - it's not incredible, but it's good and it's reliable. Open Late - gotta give a star for being open 10:30am - 2am. As someone who likes to eat an early lunch and sometimes a super late meal/snack, I'm happy Cookout is always there for a quick stop. Milkshakes - are they the best, no. But they're solid and there's tons of options. If you're sick of the ice cream machine being broken at other places, def don't sleep on a Cookout shake. My fav order is a regular cheeseburger (always rotating styles), with chicken nuggets and a walking tacos. Can't go wrong. WE moved from Cornelius to Denver a little under a year ago and got to visit one time prior to the moved. Been three of four times since the move. This used to be a KFC that was heavily renovated to the Cook Out format. With Covid, most visits have been through the Drive Through. Food is typical Cook Out fare with nice juicy burgers and choice of topping and condiments. Have not had one yet that was overcooked and dry. The Milkshakes are out of this world with an amazing number of flavors. Only negative thing is accessibility. West Catawba Ave has a concrete divider so if you're West Bound, you have to go up a bit and make a U-turn at the next intersection to get into the East Bound Lane. If when you leave and you want to go West, you have to travel down to the intersection with Torrance Chapel and make another U-turn. Cornelius Traffic Engineers did not make it easy to get into here but the Burgers are worth it. read more

Second time at this location ! I will say the coolest part was the cookout tray comes in an actual tray... A box situation. Ha it's fancy over here folks! Got the white cheddar bites this time and they are tasty. Also got the spicy chicken sandwich but they did not make it cheddar style as I asked. I will take some of the blame because we were repeating things and maybe they did not hear it.. everything was hot and fresh though. My husband loves the quesadillas so he got that. I cannot understand how these people struggle so hard in making a milkshake. It is perfectly fine to make mistakes or misunderstand through that speaker. But if you do, and I ask respectfully for it to be fixed, JUST DO IT!! First time going to this location of Cook Out, and I would rate it one of the better ones. I used to frequent Cook Out for late night snacks or a shake during college. Now, I go for a good fast food burger where I can get some crazy awesome things as my sides. I mean who can go somewhere and get a corndog or quesadilla as your side? My favorite sides though are the seasoned fries, onion rings, hushpuppies, and quesadilla. I will say I am not a huge fan of the grilled chicken sandwiches. I like the shakes, but you have to know ahead of time they are more like a Wendy's frosty in that they are thicker and pretty challenging to drink from a straw. They are still really really good though. I like the M&M one and sometimes get the peach one, too. The one thing that can be good or bad is this location serves their trays in paperboard boxes rather than the classic styrofoam boxes. I love they are helping the environment but do miss the nostalgia of the old boxes. Overall, this location is clean and quite busy which is always good to see. read more

Cookout has gone downhill. Hamburger was not made correctly. The peach milkshake had three slices of peach not even cut up and mixed in basically a vanilla shake with peaches thrown in it. The quesadilla had almost no chicken. read more

Found a dark green piece of mold in the bottom bun of my burger. I was lucky I saw it first and ripped it off before eating it, but I waited over 20 minutes for this and it wasn't worth the wait. When they get it incorrect they don't really help rectify it. I'm a single mom when I come home it's difficult to go back to the restaurant. The employees at this location are so nice! A warning this location only has 1 drive through lane and occasionally will mess up on quality of the food (forget chicken on quesadilla, burn chicken, etc) , but overall good location. read more
