Stopped by Cook-Out for a quick bite and had mixed feelings about the visit. The food was hot and fresh. We ordered two cheeseburger trays, and both were cooked well and served quickly. No complaints there. The dining room was clean and orderly, which was appreciated. However, the restroom could definitely use some attention. It wasn't up to the same standard as the dining area. What really stood out (in a very bad way) was the customer service. The young lady working the front counter was extremely rude. After handing me the receipt, I said "thank you," and she just turned and walked away without acknowledging me at all. A simple "you're welcome" or even a nod would've gone a long way. I was very excited to get cookout for the first time in a long time. Trusting that the employees knew what they were doing I assumed all of my food would be in the bag. My southern trip "must have" checklist is coming to an end. But I wouldn't be able to conclude anything without an extra thick and creamy milkshake from Cook Out. One of the spots on my list, in which I only ever ordered one item from the menu. So I can't speak to anything else, but I am a repeat customer and the Banana Pudding milkshake is something to try. It has become a repeat order for myself. You can taste the vanilla wafer cookies and the bananas. A milkshake so thick you can eat it with a spoon, as if you are eating pudding. Simply delish. This particular locations tends to be slow at times and the young ladies at the counter seem to be in their own world. Being a northerner, Cook Outs have always been a gem to me! I can get chicken quesadilla, fries, nuggets, a milkshake and a burger for like $7. Basically you can feed a small tribe of hungry people for $20 bucks. Understand though, the price of the food speaks to the quality. The quality of the food is terrible lol. In a fun way. You don't go to cookout expecting chick fil a grade chicken patties of five guys burgers. You go to get full, for cheap! I think the food overall is crap, but this crap will do the trick on a late night after "party" situation. The cook sauce is bomb!!! Get it. This particular location had a whole group of disrespectful, rowdy teenagers who were just hanging out around the register. Seems like they may have been friends with the cashier? Idk. Idk why I tired them again. There's like no cheese curds in the chicken entree and they were the burnt ends that you'd leave to not serve. No cheese in them at all. Very disappointing. I went here for the first time last night and I ordered a milkshake. I got halfway done, and as I went to swallow my next bite I almost choked. There was some sort of plastic wrapper in the middle of my milkshake, and it's not like it was small I attached a pic, the thing on the paper towel is what I almost swallowed. Just had the worse customer experience I've ever had at a restaurant. First, the girl working the window handed me a random tea that I did not order. She refused to take it back. Well, we pass by here all the time wondering what this restaurant is like. We finally stopped and it took us five minutes to get out of the car because we were reading all the reviews. Mixed reviews but most were 3 to 4 stars knowing you can't please everyone - we know that. The restaurant is clean, the restaurant is cool by the AC, the front counter is a little small. The young lady working the front was not very friendly she did not say hi, how are y'all doing, welcome or nothing. Long story short, the food is really really good. MUCH BETTER THAN BOJANGLES BY FAR!! The chicken fingers were fresh, they were soft and the french fries were hot, the hush puppies were not greasy and everything went really well, we were really impressed. Hair in my BBQ! I'm a huge fan of Cookout back home in NC. Here it's subpar! This is the last time I will ever visit a location in SC. What's worse is I can't get anyone on the phone to let them know so they can throw out the bad batch of BBQ. A horrible way to do business. Nice that they have both burgers and hotdogs. Food is average and I thought too salty for my taste. There's a reason they give you the option of doubling up on the sides - SMALL PORTIONS. Place was reasonably clean. Nothing special, no reason to stop here versus another burger joint, unless someone wants burgers and another wants hotdogs in your group.
