Got there 8:35 when they close at 9 and they would not make a chicken cutlet sandwich telling me the fryer was closed when it was evident they were still on( red power light glowing ) unfortunately the place goes further down hill with every new owner. In the few years I'm up here in the Fishkill area, I've tried several deli's within a 20 mile radius. This is definitely one of the best ones. It's more than just a sandwich shop; they are closer to being a general store. They have household and automotive items, lotto, and grocery items on the shelves. In the deli section there are prepackaged cold salads, pickles, and some antipasto selections. But, it's the sandwiches that bring me in. Deli's were never inexpensive; whoever thinks they were; remembers a time, long ago. But they also forgot that their weekly pay check was less than $50. and they thought they were doing well. The cold cuts in the sandwiches and hero's are overstuffed with fresh cold cuts and whatever else you want on it. There are also hot sandwiches, Breakfast items, and daily specials. The prices are reasonable; even inexpensive compared with what you receive. The place is busy not just at the breakfast & lunch hours. Which means the food turns over fast and isn't sitting for who knows how long. The only "complaint" is, they could use some more parking spaces. Because they are so busy. It says something about the quality and service that people will travel to a spot not in a mall and a little off the beaten path! read more

One star because no stars wasn't an option.. I've been living down the road from this place for over 30 years and once the new owners took over everything went to sh!t. The sandwiches no longer have an adequate amount of meat on them. The coolers have not been cleaned probably since the new owners took over. The prices went up as well and if the sandwiches were the same it wouldn't be as annoying as paying more for lower quality. The new owners are running this deli into the ground. During the summer months the weeds grow out of control in their rock garden entrance area. Overall do not expect what we have learned to expect in the past, but instead I would suggest going to hopewell for a good deli sandwich. read more

I was traveling around the area and wanted to go in and get a breakfast sandwich. Maybe I should've read the reviews first. Like other said it seemed not very well kept. Things seem disorganized I ordered a egg on a roll with hash brown and cheese. It took about 15 minutes and they were only up a few other people there. I got my sandwich and went back outside. I took a walk down a side street started to have my breakfast sandwich. When I bit into it it had a bad taste. The hash brown was quite greasy and had a sour taste. The egg tasted strange as well. I really should've gone back and pointed it out to them. But I just didn't get a good vibe from the employees in the place. They weren't unfriendly but The guy at the cashier seemed distracted and when I tried to be friendly he was kind of Curt. Maybe he knew the sandwich she just gave me wasn't too good. But I'm sure it's his boss that is running the place into the ground so what can he do. I'd recommend stay away from this deli. read more

WOW ! I have lived in my house right here in Fishkill my whole life and I have been going here for 30 years. I can not believe how horrible the new owners have neglected it here. I stopped in a few weeks back for sandwich and I noticed all the shelves were not stocked and things seem to be torn apart, I went in about two weeks later and there was stuff that I had noticed was still in the exact same spot from a few weeks ago that was torn down. The service is absolutely horrible the past two times that I have gone in here I have waited about 35 minutes for a sandwich. It is starting to become more dirty looking and I notice many of the new employees not washing their hands in between using the register. There was piles of water on the ground with napkins thrown over and just left there. So sad to see a place that was good for over 30 years go downhill. read more

My family were regulars here for years! But since the new owner we will never go back. So sad because we loved going to this deli but the new owner is not nice. He tried to double charge me on pepperoni and insisted it was the right price when I have been buying it for years. Gave me a serious attitude and acted like I was crazy. He was charging me for soppressata because he did not know the difference. It's not only that.. everytime I go in he's just an asshole. Excuse my language. I can tell the staff are not happy and the only reason I would go to this place is because I love some of the staff but I can not go anymore. Although the food here is generally good, I would not recommend eating here if you are trying to practice good infection control measures. Twice I have witnessed the staff here not bothering to change their gloves or wash their hands in between food prep and touching the cash register, money, credit cards, etc. Especially in this era of Corona virus you would think there would be more attention to infection control and cleanliness. I also witnessed this same employee vacuuming the store while doing food prep.....I have my doubts if he bothered to change his gloves or wash his hands after handling the vacuum and returning to the food prep. I am seriously contemplating calling the Board of Health on this deli. Besides that, this person was incredibly rude. It is not good customer service to refer to your customers as "sweetheart" or "honey". When I suggested to him that this was not a good thing to do, his response was "well, it works for me". Additionally, he was quite argumentative over the specifics of my order, insisting that I ordered "A", when I had ordered "B" - and had a witness that confirmed what I ordered. Addendum to my review written on 4/2/20 - I followed up with a call to the manager of this store - Dawn. Dawn was very professional and apologetic about the entire situation which went a long way to me revising my review. She also had the owner of the store call me - Sizon (not sure if I am spelling his name correctly) - who was also exceedingly professional and apologetic. Both of these professionals assured me that this employee would be spoken to. Furthermore Sizan reassured me that he takes infection control measures very seriously and he will be speaking to and re-educating all the employees. Its good to know that at the very least, the manager and the owner are highly professional, care about their customers and are willing to take the time to make things right. read more

Rating this deli a 1 is too high. What a shame. It was always a great deli, low turnover with employees. Everyone knew everyone. I hadn't been in there for a while.. Today, asked for a very basic sandwich- asked for roasted peppers. Not only do they apparently not have them, the girl at the counter had no idea what they were... of course they got the very simple sandwich wrong, I was polite, the girl got annoyed with me, a guy re-made the sandwich. Awful. From the roll to the 2 other items on the sandwich. The air conditioner vent was dripping water from the ceiling, right as you walk in the front entrance. EVERYTHING looks disgusting and dirty. In the 10 minutes I was in there, 2 employees had a sandwich made - for themselves- as they were "working" and ate behind the counter. No gloves. No hand washing. One girl was in front of the deli meat area, coughed into her hand.. NONE of the above would have been tolerated with the previous owner and employees. Sad... If you are looking for a great deli with many good meals on the menu DO NOT COME HERE they don't clean around the deli the owners are barely ever there and they have three rude teenagers working there that have no clue what they're doing . The food here used to be so good I would go there all the time and now it's trash food used to take about ten minutes to make because they would have everything pre heated and everything ready now it takes about 30 minutes . Great deli! We buy double egg sandwiches with bacon there all the time and their sandwich's are excellent. Especially the Italian sub. Meat cut freshly so much better then any chain sandwich shop even the potato salad is always fresh and delicious ! This is the main deli I visit. The employees handle rushes well and a lot of variety for food. I get my little automotive needs here too haha. There is one employee that is careless that I try to avoid having them handle my things but I won't drop their name here. My only other complaint is sometimes the fried options, like the Mac and cheese bites, are dry. Sometimes they are fabulous though, hit or miss. read more

There are staff there that don't follow ANY of the CDC guidelines. I witnessed and employee with no mask and no gloves refilling the coffee cups, tops and stirrers. The place needs to be shut down and completely sterilized before I'll ever go back there. When I asked the girl behind the counter where his gloves and mask were, she got belligerent and asked me where MY gloves were. I told her I'm a customer, I'm not serving food. I wouldn't recommend stopping here until it's clean and they enforce CDC guidelines and make employees AND customers wear masks. read more

Stopped in around 10:30 AM on Saturday morning for coffee and a bacon/egg/cheese on a bagel. Ordered the sandwich and while it was being made, went over to the 'coffee island' area to pour my coffee. All the coffee pots were empty. There were about 4 employees there and told one of them (some young black girl) that the coffees were all empty. Her response to me "we don't usually make coffee after 10 AM on weekends" Waited for the sandwich to be made and as I was paying for it, I asked the same employee (a young black girl) that I would really like to have coffee with this, her response to me: "we usually don't make coffee after 10 AM on weekends". Why is this person working here? Convenient used to be the place to stop for AM chow. People like this employee have really ruined it. This person needs to be fired asap!!! It seems she has plenty of time to chat on her cell phone, but no time to make coffee for the customers? I don't get it, what am I missing? read more

This deli has been here a long time and it was always a favorite when I lived in Fishkill. I can remember going there when my kids were babies about 15 years ago! They're still as good as they used to be, sandwiches are great, they do some really good lunch and weekend specials and I've never had anything there that I didn't enjoy. My name is Brittany, I'm from Wolcott, CT and I am turning 22 years old in October. I came out to New York to visit my friend James, and we went to the Deli Mart to play the lottery tonight. As soon as we walked in we could tell that it was a bit busy because there were only two people behind the counter and about 6 to 8 people in the Mart waiting on food. The girl behind the counter asked if we knew what we wanted to order, and that she would be with us in a minute. We promptly told her that we were just stopping in to buy some Mega Million tickets. She asked us for our ID's, and James handed his ID to her. I just stood by because I wasn't personally buying them, I just went in with him because I didn't want to sit in the car. So then she looked at me and said with a huge attitude "I need to see yours too." I said "ok?" and went into my wallet to pull out my license, and as I was handing it to her she informed us that she had to card both of us if we were both playing, which I responded "i'm not playing, but you can see my ID anyways." She took the card, inspected it for a minute, and then looked up at me and said "So can I see your real ID?" .. I was so taken aback. I have never been accused of my REAL license to be a fake ID before. Currently, my license is still vertical because I was 16 when I started driving, and it actually expires this year so I have to get a new one in October, which is when it will finally be turned horizontally to signify that I am of legal age. Which is a HUGE indicator that it was NOT a fake ID to begin with. So once she said "Can I see your real ID?" I paused for a second and said "What?" and she just repeated herself again and THREW the card across the counter back at me. "Can I see your real ID?" so I started to get mad that she was accusing me of not even being 18, and that my real license was a fake, and she repeated again "Can I see your real ID?" in front of a Mart full of people. So I raised my voice at her and said "Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!?" and the rest of the conversation went something along the lines of this: girl - "No, I just want to see your real ID" me - "That is my real ID" girl - "Can I see your real ID?" me - "I don't know what you expect from me. Do you want to see my birth certificate and social security card?" girl - "No, I'm not asking for those. Can I just see your real ID?" me - "No, that IS my real ID. I don't know what the problem is" girl - "Well you guys are from different states, and it is my job to make sure that people who buy lottery tickets are of the legal age" me - "Yes, I understand that. I am from CT, I live an hour and a half away. I'm visiting my friend James. That is my real ID. I don't know why you are disrespecting me in front of all of these people." girl - "I'm not being disrespectful. I just want to see your real ID" me- "Well that is my real ID, this is ridiculous!" girl - "Well I don't know what this whole attitude is for. I just want to see your real ID" me - "THAT IS MY REAL ID. THAT IS MY LICENSE" she threw our lottery tickets across the counter, and continued to help other customers who she was a complete bitch to also. Had a HUGE attitude to everyone in the Mart, and was throwing receipts and pens across the counter to innocent bystanders. This was a YOUNG, mean looking, scrawny, skinny faced girl with straight black hair and bangs that hung across her eyes. I wish I caught her name because management needs to know what she is doing when she is there alone. I am completely and utterly appalled at how I was treated at this establishment tonight. I work at an accounting firm and know how to hold myself in a professional manner. There is a proper and polite way to say things, and a rude, mean, and disrespectful way to say things. This girl needs to be taught professionalism and how to treat customers with respect. I know I look young, but to be treated like I'm a young teenager when I am fully graduated out of college and working at a professional accounting and auditing firm is completely ridiculous. This girl obviously has a miserable life and hates her job. I feel bad for the owners who do not realize how she is treating their customers (or should I say how she is driving them away) when they aren't there. read more

I am at Wingate Nursing facility which frequent this deli often. One of the nurses received a green mold sandwich and as he is talking to them nicely, they were rude and said they would not refund money or give home another sandwich!
