This store is a true design gem (not just in North Carolina but nationally - especially due to…read moretheir robust online offering and incredible design industry knowledge) and the owners (Ivy and John) are absolutely amazing in every possible way - truly the sweetest people. As a principal designer (with a key focus on interiors) at an award-winning national practice, I have worked with countless retailers, supply houses and interiors consultancies. Without question, these folks are my absolute favorite supply partners and I work with them every possible chance I get (note that they also offer trade pricing should you happen to be an architect or designer). Over the years my wife and I have bought several pieces from them at various price points and have always been impressed by their level of service, responsiveness, kindness, enthusiasm and overall product (and industry) knowledge. I truly cannot say enough great things about either the store itself or the people behind it.

I can't speak for the in-person experience since I ordered online, but from my email engagements…read morewith the founder of Palette & Parlor, Ivy Simon, I have to say this was my most fabulous buying experience. I had purchased an item that turned out to be unavailable until October and while Ivy could have let me wait, she actually emailed me within 24 hours of my purchase to give me a chance to cancel the order if I didn't want to wait. I really appreciated her gesture and ended up keeping the order. She was very responsive through the entire process and I can't rave enough about my experience. Thank you Ivy and as I had let you know, you have a lifetime customer.

I was curious about the selections and discounts. I saw several different items that were up to 60% off. The options are a unmatched steal to own luxury decor with a discount. The furniture was unique and definitely showcased a variety of quality items. There were 0% engagements from the staff here (this wasn't a busy day) Perhaps this is the norm for discounted luxury furniture. Staff definitely saw me but didn't interact at all. No warm welcome or acknowledgement. I was invisible to staff and perhaps this is the norm.

Workers are nice though! If you're looking for something more specific, one of the employees said that they can write down what you're looking for and your phone number and they can be on the lookout for that item and can contact you if it comes in. That's nice that they can do that, but you're relying on them to follow-through on some unicorn pieces. Also, we were looking for four matching chairs, they had two of them and there's no guarantee we would find the other two. It wasn't a risk I wanted to take. As for the pricing- it's still pricey. It's not like you're saving a ton of money, but you're still saving some. Overall, the visit was "meh".

I used to stop by Mills Outlet all the time and always loved the experience. It's been a few years…read moresince my last visit, so I decided to make time to visit today. I've always enjoyed walking the fabric aisles to admire the vibrant colors and unique upholstery designs. They usually have great remnants at good prices, but today, I have to say, I was very disappointed--and this will likely be my last visit. While browsing the precut remnants, I noticed an employee staring at me. I moved to another section of the table, but the same employee "coincidentally" hovered near me again. I ignored it and kept looking, determined to find a piece for a special project I had in mind. As soon as I found something I liked, I turned around to see her standing nearby, pivoted toward me, and she commented, "I see you found something." After a long day at work, I was simply looking for a quick, creative outlet to pick up some fabric for my design project. Instead, I felt scrutinized and uncomfortable. As an avid fabric purchaser who regularly shops in fabric stores from Raleigh to High Point and NYC, this was a disheartening experience. Most stores I frequent are welcoming and allow me to browse freely without unnecessary oversight. Mills Outlet, please do better. Your customers come to you for inspiration, not judgment. You never who could be shopping in your store.

There's a huge selection of Oriental/Turkish/Persian rugs in all colors and sizes in the back. It's art for your floor and just as hard to pick only one to take home. But getting to the back of the store to see those amazing rugs is only one piece of the adventure Nomadic Trading offers. You first have to walk through a collection of Oriental, Indian, Turkish art history of assorted items. All of them, the furniture, water jars, lamps, beads, etc. are striking -- simple, yet complex at the same time. The natural materials are a refreshing change from modern-day chemical-based creations. When you get to the back of the store, you'll see rugs in colors and patterns unlike any others. The blues and reds attracted my attention, but each of them is intriguing in its own way. The patterns and colors all had a story to tell. It's folk-art. If you're truly fortunate, you'll be able to listen to the owner play his drums - I think they're Dybbuk (I forgot to ask) -- to add to the ambience.
