Heard the manager tell another patron that one employee who was supposed to start at 4p called and asked if they could come in at 430 and manager gave the okay. Lots of tables availablewe were told we had to wait till 430 .. a 30 min wait. Evidentlywhen the other employee came in.. . with tables available. The service was the only upside to this restaurant unfortunately. The food was extremely disappointing! Cesar salad came drenched in black pepper and dressing that tasted rancid. My spinach salad came overflowing in a tiny bowl, I was unable to mix the dressing as my food kept falling out into the table. The chicken part of the chicken Parmesan was very good, however the sauce that coated the noodles tasted like straight heavy cream and Parmesan, too cheesy and thick. We love coming here for an affordable, hardy and good meal that will last us a couple of days of leftovers. Our son loves the kids spaghetti. Hubby always orders the Roman pasta. I tend to try something each time and enjoyed all of my meals. Tasty salad comes with the pasta dinner. They have lots of homemade dressing that we enjoy - creamy Caesar, feta and tomato balsamic. We've been coming to Contos for over 15 years and it never disappoints! I feel like the it's been the same great quality as it's been since I first went. We love the get the Contos' Own Special pizza with dinner side salads. Their homemade ranch is absolutely delicious. I've tried many pasta dishes and lots of different appetizers and can genuinely say everything we've had was great. Everyone that works there is so nice and we've never felt rushed to leave. We just discovered this place although I think it's been here for a very long time. The food and service are outstanding. So far, we've placed two to-go orders. We really like the tortellini with alfredo, supreme pizza, garlic bread, and tiramisu. We could tell it's a super popular place as the first time we visited on a Friday night the line wrapped all around the front door outside. The portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and leftovers last several nights so you get a good value for your dollar. The employees are attentive, friendly, and welcoming. This is the best restaurant I've ever been to - And I've travelled all over the world. I literally fly from out of state and drive from Seattle to Lake Steven's to specifically go to Conto's. It is the best Italian food I've ever had in my life (including my two trips to Italy). The salad, the pasta, the bread, any appetizer you order, it's all amazing. The Italian Sodas? Massive and incredible. The portion sizes for all the food is insane and will feed you for two more days. I have brought people from all over the state and out of state to this restaurant. First time here. It was pretty busy and the service was great. Our waitress always had a smile on her face and was working hard. As for the food, I'll start by saying- Italian food is not my favorite type of cuisine. However, tonight we were in the mood for Italian. I got a Caesar salad upgrade, which I thought was totally worthwhile. It was a large portion size and the Caesar was delicious. I also ordered the eggplant Parmesan with a side of Italian sausage. I'm not sure if I was given Italian sausage or the meatballs. Either way, no complaints as it was pretty good. My biggest piece of feedback is about the eggplant parm. I have to say that it was not what I was expecting. Usually in this dish, the eggplant is star of the show. The dish is created around the eggplant. However, this dish felt like the spaghetti was the star of the show. The description stated that the eggplant was over the spaghetti noodles. I had assumed this meant a smaller portion, and the rest of the dish would be quite the same. It really just felt like spaghetti and instead of meatballs, eggplant was swapped out. I'm unsure if the eggplant was actually breaded, there was no crispiness to it and it appeared to be soaked into the meat sauce. Overall, the portions were big and service was good! read more

It's been a good 15 years since I have been to Contos in Lake Stevens. My husband and I finally gave into the memory of greasy food that upsets your stomach. We didn't regret it. We started with the baked feta and rustic bread. It was good but a bit to salty. The feta and Kalamata olives that were used, were to salty together. We then shared a dinner salad with ranch. I love a good restaurant ranch. It is the only time I will eat it. Salad was great all around. For dinner, we shared the chicken Parmesan. The chicken was good. Salty but good. Noodles and sauce all had great flavor and not as greasy as we had remembered. Dinner comes with garlic bread, it is good, nothing to write home about, we passed. On the way in we noticed the dessert fridge. All dessert is cut and put in to go containers. So.. we got the Bischoff cheesecake to go, it isn't on the menu. It was amazing. We snacked on it later in the evening as room was made. I was concerned it wouldn't taste fresh being packaged who knows when. It was. It was grand. Next time I will order the dinner salad and dessert We would return and recommend it with the thoughts, you should share everything, go on an empty stomach and take dessert home with you. We'll I can't stop reviewing Contos tonight was manly cause of the desert Pumpkin cheesecake when I saw that on the menu it was a no brainer got have it. So after stuffing myself on a small pepperoni sausage and mushroom pizza, I was able to finish 8 out of 10 slices pretty good score but I was hungry lol, after sitting and allowing for some digestion it was time to try the pumpkin cheesecake. You can see from the picture it has a glaze and some walnuts that are nice accent to the cheesecake. You can taste a nice subtle pumpkin flavor in the cheesecake when all are combined you have a nice Halloween inspired dessert get it while you can it's awesome. A local standard, Contos Pizza is more than just a neighborhood pizza joint! They have a full menu including a rich, tasty meat sauce on their Eggplant Parmesan. The pizza, Contos Special, was just perfect! Thick pieces covered with tasty pepperoni , sausage, mushrooms and cheese. The restaurant was bustling and the servers got orders out steaming hot to our table. My husband has diabetes and the server, Cali, worked with him to get more eggplant and less spaghetti in his delicious dish. I have lived in Lake Stevens for 20 years and patronized Contos on and off mostly for takeout pizzas. This visit my husband and I decided to dine in because it was too hot to cook at home and we were both hungry when we arrived on a Tuesday around 4:45pm and we were able to get a seat quickly. Everybody was very pleasant and helpful. We were originally seated in one of those tiny little two top booths and we asked for something with more tabletop surface and they happily moved us to a bigger booth. The ambience of the restaurant was lovely and the temperature inside was nice and cool. As I looked around, I noticed how clean everything was, no tired looking decor, it felt like an upscale Italian restaurant. I ordered the chef's salad, and my husband ordered the special of the night, which was a ziti pasta with spicy Italian sausage in the sauce. Both dishes were enormous. The salad could have easily fed four people and same with the pasta. It was very fresh & very good quality very flavorful, really impressive. I was only able to eat about a quarter of the salad and the same for the pasta. We brought our leftovers home and had more salad than two people could eat the following night for dinner from the leftovers. We only dressed the amount we ate at the restaurant so what we took home was undressed. Their blue cheese dressing is to die for so I bought an 8 ounce container to take home. I love Sizzler blue cheese dressing, but there are no sizzlers in Washington anymore so I was so thrilled to discover such a fantastic blue cheese dressing! They sell it I think in 8 ounces and 16 ounces and they make it in-house every day. The prices are moderate. It is not an inexpensive place to eat, but no place is anymore, when you take into account how many meals you get out of a single dish and then divide it by the price it's really very reasonable. I look forward to returning and trying something different next time but was impressed enough to take the time to write this.
