They also have reliable hours, open at night, later than most independent pet shops. The store was clean, organized, and well stocked during my recent visit. I had no problem picking up a couple of items for my bunnies, with service at the front register quick and easy. In addition, parking was plentiful right out front on a Monday evening. In terms of small animal products, I don't really trust a lot of the ingredients in the treats that they sell at big chain stores like this (ie. fruit flavored drops). But I got the vitakraft veggie pies, which I can at least sift through to remove anything I don't feel comfortable with giving my bunnies. They're due for a spoiling, and the chew toy selection in the store sucked, so this would have to do.

We recently applied to adopt a cat through the adoption center at PetSmart, and the experience was…read morevery disappointing. It has been over a week since we submitted our application, and I have yet to receive any response. I've left several messages expressing our interest in adopting, but no one has returned my calls. From my understanding, the purpose of these adoption programs is to help pets find loving homes. Unfortunately, that did not seem to be the priority here. It's frustrating to hear the message on hold about doing "anything for pets," yet potential adopters cannot even get a simple call back. Because we never heard from anyone, we ended up visiting Petco, where we were able to adopt a kitten the very same day. He is now in a loving home, which is exactly what these animals deserve. PetSmart has the resources and platform to do great things for pets, but the adoption process at this location needs serious improvement. These animals are depending on you to help them find homes. Please do better.

But this summer we adopted a chihuahua mix that had got a bit fluffy and needed a haircut. I didn't know what to ask for, so the groomer (Carlos) gave some recommendations, and I went with his plan. I was a little surprised that the whole job took more than 2 hours, but they have a process that enables them to handle multiple dogs simultaneously. I was a little worried that our puppy would freak out in his first haircut, but he came through it fine. Kudos to the staff for their professionalism. Pro tip: call the store directly to make an appointment. That way you'll get all the details right, even if you're already in their online system. Also, show up on time. They get busy, and the groomers will spend time with you to discuss your options if you haven't put them in a hurry. Caveats: This was my first experience with the grooming services at this particular Petco. YMMV. I've had good experiences with the retail staff there as well, but like any retail store these days, sometimes they're understaffed. Nevertheless, even the retail staff have been knowledgeable about their products.

He was attacked…read moreby dogs in the past, and in October 2025, he was hurt by a groomer at another place so badly that he needed an ER visit for his nails. Since then, he's been extremely scared of grooming, and honestly, I've been scared too. I've been looking for a new grooming place ever since, but trusting someone again wasn't easy. When I called Woof Gang, I explained everything about Rogers. I didn't feel rushed or brushed off. The team really listened and worked with us to find a time that would be best for Rogers, knowing how anxious he gets. That alone meant a lot to me. When we came in, everyone was so kind to him. Calm voices, treats, patience--just genuine care. They also made sure Rogers was paired with a groomer who knows how to handle nervous dogs, and that made all the difference. Fernando was amazing. Rogers usually tries to run the moment grooming is over, but this time... he didn't. After the grooming, he stayed in the shop waiting for treats from Fernando. I'm attaching a video to this review because it still surprises me when I watch it. No amount of treats ever makes Rogers stay--but somehow, he felt safe enough to. That moment told me everything. This whole team truly cares about dogs. From scheduling to accommodating us to making Rogers feel comfortable, they went above and beyond. I'm really grateful we found them, and I finally feel like I have a place I can trust with my dog.

They are now nearly 4 months old. In a couple months they should be laying eggs. The women behind the counter are knowledgeable with chickens. With their advice we got medicated feed to keep them healthy. The cost of chicks is reasonable at around $10 each. Nearly full grown hens are around $40-60. Since they can lay eggs every other day, it can be worth your while. Our nearly hens are more like pets. We walk them, watch tv with them, and they're really a lot of fun. We used to have rabbits, but we feel that the chickens are more fun.

They are a great resource,…read moreespecially since they are located in the Willow Glen area and close to San Jose, Santa Clara etc but their prices are reasonable and you can buy almost anything for your animals there. I mostly get bedding and food for my chickens and bird seed of which they have a large selection. During the spring, they sell chicks as well and you have to check their website for types and days that you can get them and you have to line up early. I saw harness and leashes for chickens on my last visit! The service tends to be hit or miss but mostly miss. The ladies at the counter don't necessarily want to answer any questions and have several times waved me to a section when I asked for an item so I gave up asking questions. You have to pick and pay for your items and then provide the receipt to one of the helpers outside who will load the items in your vehicle. I have seen people pulling trailer loaded high with bales of hay. I haven't seen them selling eggs but they have chicken towards the back of the yard. If you pay with anything other than cash, even debit card, they will charge either a fixed amount or a flat fee, which tends to be a bit higher than most places. Take cash. Plenty of parking and it's in a quiet neighborhood. One of the last places left that sells affordable animal feed at a reasonable price!
