I scheduled for someone to come look at my 50 year old gas powered steam boiler for an assessment and tune-up. Toni came out and did a great job. He lowered the pressure on the system to the proper range (1PSI), pointed out how the system works and why certain rooms were not getting steam (aka 50 year old boilers should be retired). He also found 2 issues, one of which I was already aware of that explained why the efficiency was so low. He was able to give me fair prices for parts and labor and also suggested following up with Mass Save before deciding to spend anything on the system. I wrote several months ago concerning damage done to my driveway. I think I received 2 responses after I contacted them multiple times. I sent pictures, truck I'd and employee number. It's been 6 months and I still haven't heard an honest reply. I think they don't care about their responsibilities to correct damage. Btw the driveway is clearly marked not to enter AND I'm not a customer of consumers. Bogus operation if they don't want to correct the damage their truck did. Since my last review, I have been allowed to run out of oil twice while on automatic delivery w price lock and burner contract. It also took 10 full days to get a propane delivery. Prior to paraco takeover I never once ran out of oil in 16 years and propane always came in about 3-4 days. When my contract is done I think it will sadly be time to move on unless something turns drastically for the better soon. read more

So scammy! Multiple people I know have asked a specific dollar amount, only for the person to intentionally fill the gas tank more then asked and then demand money fir the difference. If you come here, make sure they confirm your limit and watch the pump closely! I have been ordering propane from this company for over 12 years. When I called to order some approximately a month ago, I was told that my name was not on the account. They said they needed to talk to my husband so he could allow me to order the propane. My husband has never ordered the propane, I have. When he gave his verbal OK over the phone, the woman then allowed me to order it. I asked her to look at whose name was on the credit cardand it was mine, not my husband's. I asked that my name be added to the account and the representative told me she had to go to ask her superior. What is wrong with this company? Terrible practices which I have confirmed from another propane business are illegal. When you call them. the woman says things like "I am not going to deal with you". We were offered a very "competitive rate" after these people came onto our property and turned off services. They claimed we should have received a postcard, which we did not. It went from one post card mailer to trespassing on property to turn off tank without any notice. I asked if we owed any money, to which they said no. I am astounded by these practices. read more

They locked our propane tank fittings!...we bought a new construction, a few months pass, propane stops working, I go check the levels, found line locks and a disconnected house line, WTF!...no bills in the mail, no notices on the door, no notices in the mailbox to current homeowner found...maybe we're missing something here but we don't recall ever talking to, seeing any mail from, nor signing anything with this company!...all we did was buy a new house!...we paid the previous owners for estimated fuel at the closing!...whatever grievance this company think they have are with the previous owners!...it appeared they TRESPASSED on and VANDALIZED our property!...we called and were told that they had a right to disconnect the tanks because they own them...they said it was for 'safety'...safety to prevent us from using the fuel we ALREADY PAID FOR?!...safety because the property is clearly occupied with lawn furniture, lawn decorations, furniture seen through windows and at least 1 car in the driveway at all times?!...B.S.!...so they: 1. NOT warn the new owners they're going to disconnect the tanks 2. Disconnect and lock the tanks 3. NOT notify that they have now done this 4. WAIT for the new owners to notice the gas stopped 5. WAIT for the new owners to figure out what they did 6. WAIT for the new owners to call them 7. B.S. the new owners that it was for 'safety' 8. Deflect when asked why they didn't post a notice on the door prior to nor post disconnection 9. EXPECT the new owners to SIGN A LONG-TERM CONTRACT?! HOLY CRAP WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?! Do they really think we want ANYTHING to do with them after this utter, total NON-SENSE?! I'm now shopping for other propane service that don't seem to completely HATE THEIR CUSTOMERS! After this company was bought out by Paraco the service has been non existent. I had a credit card on file, they send me a late notice and when I called they had everything on file. I wasted 1/2 hour on hold, this never happened when Ken owned it. I am on automatic and had to call for propane. I put in a call to get the gauge fixed so I could read it, they never came out after multiple calls. to top it all off the price per gallon was nuts!!! I was buying over 500 gallons and they charged me over #3.00 when everyone else was under 2.50! stay away! read more

My experience with the new consumers since they merged with paraco. Have been the worst one could possibly expect. I have been a customer for over 22 years and have never recieved such horrible service. I have had multiple accounts at the same time with them for rental properties. most recently I did have a balance owed but I'm not going nowhere and made over 1000$ payment towards my accounts on the 3 of sept. and on the 8th of September they actually went out of there way with no advance notice came to my house and disconnected my underground tank from all my equipment. heat, hot water, cooking, cloths drying and fireplace. The only notice I recieved after paying a 1000$ was that I would have to call in future deliveries. Completely understandable. nothing to the effect that they are going to come on my property and lock me out of the gas in my tank. and have no manpower to turn back on for 2 days. That is just busting me. Obviously, they have staff to do emergency repairs when needed. I have used their service before 24 hrs a day. The lady would not help me out at all even knowing there are young children in the house. And while it is not an emergency repair it was even easier all they had to do is connect me back up. You should not disconnect service without notice. if you don't have the manpower to reconnect for 2 days. You created the problem. A hold on delivery is all you had to do. I want to start with the people were pleasant and appeared to be knowledgeable. We decided to use the company because the previous owner had used them for the propane needs. The salesperson came out and was thorough, but noticed we had natural gas in the house. She informed me that you couldn't have both because of Fire Dept regulations; even though there was a huge propane tank in the back yard when we moved in. We signed a work order for the company to install gas piping so we could use our 2nd fireplace. It took a long time to get the install scheduled and when the two-man team arrived, I was informed that they did not have proper parts to complete it due to the order being submitted incorrectly, they were apologetic and pleasant people, but job not done. After repeated calls and being told they needed to check on the pricing (instead of saying they'd honor the quote- by their salesperson); I waited and waited and waited. I called a number of times and was told they were "checking on it". I started this process on November 18, 2024; I called them today, February 3, 2025 and cancelled my involvement with the company, never hearing back from them once. No text, no calls, no emails, no communication at all. Extremely poor and inept in my opinion and I will not recommend them for anything- if you cannot effectively communicate, then you don't deserve the business. We didn't actually end up using Consumers because we are converting to gas. However, the customer service was amazing! Richard went out of his way to come to my home and talk to me about the service they could provide and their price is half of what our old company charges!
