Hit a median and got flat tire. called AAA and they sent tow truck. I wasn't sure if there was a spare in this car. When Peter arrived with tow truck he called AAA to ask them to send someone to change tire. I was in dangerous place. AAA wouldn't send out another person so Peter changed it himself. Brought a car there for them to look at for one of their customers, I told them I would fix the 2 problems with the car if they bought it. They really didn't spend any time looking at the car! I am saying less than 10 minutes. I do not think they told the customer what I said! They told me the car looked great with many new parts! If they were more communicative, I think that we would have come to an agreement! From what i have heard they are VERY EXPENSIVE but do good work. So, if you want to be overcharged, it is not a bad place! I know two people that worked there so I am not talking trash! You will find out on your own! read more

This place is FANTASTIC. As I was driving home yesterday my tire pressure light came on and then I started hearing something weird coming from my driverside tire. I got out and saw a metal rod in my tire. It was close to 5pm and the first place I called was closed, so I opened up Yelp and it led me to East Side Service Center. It is at the end of the Blvd over on Hope street. I drove there hoping my tire would stay inflated and it did. Once I got out of my car I could hear the air coming out of my tire. I walked into the service center and the gentleman behind the counter asked what I needed. We walked over to the car, I showed him my tire, he ran to get his plug kit and VOILA. He literally pulled a 3inch drill bit out of my tire, plugged it and filled it back with air. I went inside, he wrote up my bill and $15 later and only 5min of my day gone I WAS OUT! He smiled and told me to have a nice day! What service... I highly reccommend this place to anyone who needs any car repairs or to simply fix a flat. In and out in 5min.. WHAT? That is unheard of! This place is simply horrible. A few weeks ago I was home sick with the flu. I woke up one morning and walked out to my car so I could drive to CVS to grab a few quick things. When I walked outside my car was nowhere to be found. I had slept basically the entire weekend, and hadn't realized that it snowed out the night before. Apparently Providence had issued a parking ban, during which East Side towed my car. I called East Side, who informed me that I could come pay to have the car released. So I took an Uber down to East Side, but nobody was there who could release the car to me. I called again and was told that a driver would be there shortly. I ultimately had to wait about two hours - along with about a half dozen other people - for the driver to show up to release my car. Then I was told that I had to pay over $200 to have the car released, which included and extra $20 fee because it was a Sunday. They were completely unwilling to reduce any of the fees. So essentially, East Side made a couple hundred bucks off of me due to the simple fact that I was sick. I will never do business with such a shady, unethical company. read more

This is the 2nd Yelp review I've ever written because I'm that thankful for this place. I have an '02 Toyota Camry with a check engine light that kept coming on after long trips. I took it to my regular mechanic (who I was not completely sold on) and they told me I needed two parts that totaled 1600$. Being a broke graduate student, I thought I'd get a second opinion. I brought it to the Service Center; they ran tests on it and called me later that day, saying that it actually was NOT necessary to buy the parts right now since the light was coming on because of a dirty filter/converter. Dave told me to fill my gas tank up with premium gas every few fills and let the hotter gas burn some of the crud out (my words, not his). He said he definitely tries to save people money when he can, which is obviously appreciated. I try it and it absolutely works. Light goes off, these guys saved me 1600 bucks and have a new loyal customer. read more

After having brake work done, the staff at East Side inadvertently kept my wheel lock instead of returning it to my car. Honest mistake, but one that could have put us in an unsafe - not to mention very costly - situation. When the wheel lock was found it was turned in to Dave, but no attempt was made to get it back to me, and this simply cannot be overlooked. I did not discover my wheel lock missing until I tried to get new tires a few months later, and futilely searched for it all over my car. I then remembered the previous brake work, ran down to the East Side Service Center just as it was closing and asked "Anyone find a wheel lock?" Dave returned it to me saying "Oh! I was wondering whose this was!" Here's the thing: There was no reason to wonder. Given how much trouble a missing wheel lock could cause during a roadside emergency, the only action to take on discovering the mistake was to remedy it. Calls should have been made to every customer who'd had recent brake work to find out whose it was. If discovered the same week, this would have meant making a handful of calls. Dave's failure to follow up on the mistake trumps any glowing review here. Imagine being on the side of a highway or a dark secluded road, rifling through your own car, unable to change a simple flat tire because Dave has your wheel lock? Beyond the safety concerns, think of the costs for towing, for storage, for replacing the wheel lock, and the inconvenience of being without a car all that time. I was not particularly happy with the work I had done at East Side, and I feel I was charged for things that did not get done. But that's nothing in comparison to Dave's response to this problem, and then later, to me. He never said "I'm sorry." He DID say "They work on thousands of cars and it's easy to leave things in a tool box." He also said "what, YOU'VE never made a mistake?" (!) And he parted with "eh ... I'm off the clock. Good-bye". Horrible experience with this service center. Only ended up there because that's who the police called to tow my wifes car. It was made very clear from the beginning our insurance would be coming out to inspect damage, and then the car would be towed to our repair site. The first time the insurance agent showed up they turned him away. Then they ordered parts for repair that we never requested. Once the car came to be towed to our repair facility they tried to charge the other company for the parts they ordered on their own. On top of that they called us to start repairs that "your dad" called about. Avoid this place like the plague. Total bush league operation that defines the shady new England repair sites. read more

After learning a little too late for my Altima what a great place this is, I'm a steady fan of this place for my Mazda. Dave is a fantastic front desk guy, the shuttle is a godsend, and the prices are fair. The repair time can get a bit sticky because UPS doesn't deliver until 3 or 4 p.m., and they close at 5. Overall, I think the kindness and the fact that they treat everyone fairly & with respect (and as a woman, sometimes it's tough with mechanics), makes this place worth every penny. read more

I needed a transmission fluid change and heat shield repair. Their quote for the transmission fluid change was about 40% cheaper than other quotes I got in the area. They were also able to fix the heat shield when another highly rated auto shop was previously unable to for whatever reason. It was also very convenient - I dropped my car off at 7:30am, they gave me a ride to work, and I got out of work late (around 9pm) and was still able to pick my car up because the gas station was open until 10pm. read more

Dave and his staff are great! Here's a typical example of their commitment to A+ service. This past summer my oil light came on mid-afternoon on a Friday. That evening I was supposed to go to Boston for an event. I drove straight to East Side Service Center and they took my car in right away, checked for leaks, and replenished the oil - all in less than a half an hour. I have had regular car service done there for years and they always explain what they need to do and why and charge a fair price for parts and service. On top of all that they give me a ride home while the car is being serviced and then pick me up when it's ready. Hands down the best auto servicing and repair shop in the area. read more

Great service from these guys. Ive had them service my work van, personal cars, fiance's car, you name it. Can't say enough good things about Dave the service advisor, who is as open and up front as they come, calling when they say they will, and getting things done on time and for a good price. The real genius of this establishment however is the connection with the gas station, and the ability to pick up your car anytime the gas station is open, which is to 10pm on most nights, and late on sunday as well! This is an excellent feature and makes it very easy to pick up and drop off your car based on your schedule. I found this Service Center here on Yelp and I couldn't be happier. I've had a few bad experiences in the past few years and I was extremely relieved to get quick, professional and friendly service. When I drove in with my check engine light on they were very busy, but checked it immediately to find out if it was safe to drive. When they identified that the car was safe to drive until fixed I made an appointment and the problem was fixed quickly. This happened two more times (10 yr old car) and each time they checked the computer right away, identified the problem quickly and got it fixed quickly. After changing a part that didn't fix the identified problem they gave me excellent service in continuing to trouble shoot until it was discovered that the part they replaced was faulty. They immediately replaced the faulty part. In the past I've had my car at a other mechanics for days or weeks on end with poor service and poor diagnosing of the problems. Other places wouldn't check it without having me drop it off, and then I never knew when I would get it back. I've been to the East Side Service Center three times in the last few months and I couldn't be happier. Fair pricing & excellent service!! They've definitely earned my business. read more
