Unfortunately the internet and sites like Yelp give people the opportunity to air their opinions on hard working individuals and companies without giving the company the respect and courtesy of rebutting the accusations.
Monroe f. was a client of ours and every every part of our construction project together did not go smooth, but in no way was it the intention of JB to cause a bad experience for our client.
The facts are as follows:
1-The owner delayed the project one year from when initial permits were pulled, we renewed the permits without charging additional fees for the permits
2-The electric was shorted out during demolition, but when we checked the circuits it seemed that all the power was returned by the end of that day. We did not hold the contract for electrical work on the project.
3- The wire was clipped by the concrete truck and instead of the owner contacting the project manager, they contacted the office, whom at the time the individual who answered the phone did not know about the project. The project manager hired an electrician to properly secure the electrical mast to the neighboring house.
4- The wire to the garage was cut during excavation and the project manager did not know of the problem. The owner knew of the problem and did not discuss with the project manager. If they did then the PM would have address the issue. The PM did not want to use a separate electrician for the repair work because the owner was responsible to hire an electrician for their job. In NYC the electrician needs to pull a permit for the work.
5- The window that was installed was an Anderson window that cost twice the amount then the vinyl replacement windows that were existing in the house. If the owner discussed the issue with the window before it was installed for 3 weeks, the PM would have tried to return for a new window. Again the time for that to happen came and went.
6- The exterior table set was broken during construction. The table was suppose to be secured by the owner, along with the other items in the yard but they left them for JB to move. The owner was reimbursed for the cost of the table.
7- The owner has a long lasting problem with their neighbor who refused to move their truck for the duration of the project. JB needed to perform work around this vehicle including; framing, soffits and gutters, roofing, and we waiting for 2 months to see if the two neighbors could settle their differences, which they couldn't, so we had to complete our contract without finishing the exterior stucco on that side of the house. We reached out to the neighbor, owner of the vehicle, and had a meeting in our office to discuss the issue we were having working on our client's house, but he said that in all due respect to our company he would not move because his neighbor, our client, and him would not come to terms on an ongoing dispute they had.
8- The owner was suppose to have all the clay roofing materials for the entire project and they didn't have all the materials necessary. JB purchased additional materials at no cost to the owner.
9- The PM of the project visited the site almost daily when work was scheduled for that day and was in constant communication with the lead men of each trade on the project.
All said and done, JB was there to complete a project that may have had a couple of bumps in the road on both sides of the contract, but we stuck out the job and were fair when it came to owner requested change orders and credits the owner wanted for issues that came up during the project. All issues and requests of the owner were satisfied by the end of the project and JB stands behind the work completed read more
