How cute is this place?! It's family friendly but also a great place to go for some adult fun. It's right near the river, and near lots of food and shopping if you wanted to get some of that in before/during/after your visit to Constitution Yards. I didn't feel super "safe" eating there as a gluten free person with their menu options (the only reason I have 4 stars and not 5), but it's super easy to go in the area and get something and even bring it in! The drinks are great - I will say that when the weather is nice, prepare for a long line. Doesn't deter me though! read more

My only gripe is the price of drinks is insane. You'll pay over $19 for a Jack and Diet Coke (20% tip included). You're talking higher than airport bar prices! So I spent $80 on 4 drinks last night. Constitution Yards is how you'd hope Wilmington would be perceived and experienced, especially on a warm spring evening. It's spacious, safe, clean and has one of the best vibes you can find in the area. To top it off? They pour some absolutely amazing beers -- the "best of" microbrews. Your biggest problem will be choosing which one to splurge way too much money on for a pitcher or two to share with friends. They also serve food and have a text service to let you know when it's ready so you can get back to your friends while ensuring your order is fresh and hot! Great for large or small groups and since it's outside it is very Covid friendly. Also great for those who want to bring their kids OR those who want to leave them at home. They have a variety of games available and the space is broken up into several different areas to let you choose your crowd. Bathrooms were clean, even though they are in an outdoor trailer. They had the Phils playing on the tv while I was there - think an opportunity for improvement might be to add just a few more TVs to really kick this spot up a notch in the sports division. Some of the attractions include; cornhole, a huge beach chair , axe throwing. Huge flat screen tv to catch the game. There is a sand pit for the kids. I met some friends at Constitution Yards for a Saturday night hangout. I arrived around 7:30 and the scene was already crowded. The setting is certainly unique; sand, wooden planks, concrete, tables and chairs scattered throughout, Christmas lights, live music, and much more. There was a fair mix of people, from young children to adults, and a handful of obedient dogs having a good time. I ordered a few beers, a soft pretzel, and chicken fingers. The beer selection is extensive and the prices are more than reasonable. The pretzel was a little weird given the placement of salt (refer to picture), but it's a minor issue. The chicken fingers (fortunately) tasted like chicken, so no complaints there. Overall, the quality is on par with typical bar food. The one thing that bothered me was the wait to get food and drinks. When I ordered food, the guys behind the counter seemed confused with every order, whether it was an issue with the order number, the accuracy of the order itself, or some other reason. Hopefully they can streamline their processes to reduce the wait time. I had a great time and I plan to return in the near future! read more

Love this idea for Wilmington- outdoor area with big picnic style tables and activities for kids and adults. They have a large chair great for photos. There are two large sand pits which the kids enjoyed. There is a bar and basic food like chicken fingers, pretzels, bratwurst, etc. The food is mediocre but it's more of a place to go hang out and have a few drinks. I like bringing the kids because they can run around and play while adults hang out. It is right by the river and you can see the river walk path from Constitution Yards. The perimeter is made out of shipping containers which is a fun way to recycle. It closes for the winter in November so it is more of a summertime place. Will be back when the weather is nicer! read more

My girlfriend and I met some friends here last week. It was my first time and I enjoyed myself & the Constitution Yards experience. This is a massive beer garden with axe throwing and multiple bars setup around the space. The beer selection is impressive and they offer multiple draft choices as well as bottles & cans. The night we went was a little slow but there was so much space that I'd imagine everyone could get a seat on a crowded night. A friend suggested this place on my first visit to Wilmington. A nice beer garden along the banks of the Delaware River. We arrived at about 5:30 in the afternoon and it was already crowded. We had to park a couple blocks away, but the weather was nice and cool, so we didn't mind. There was no cover charge, despite a band playing. The band was called The Jimmies, and they played music from the 80s (A Flock Of Seagulls, Billy Idol, Springsteen, Prince, etc.). Although I didn't eat, I noticed they had food for sale (burgers, hot dogs, chicken, etc.). An extensive craft beer selection both on tap and in cans was also offered. I had the Dale's Pale Ale from Oskar Blues brewery and the Hazy-O from Dogfish Head brewery. Both were pretty good. The place was pretty big with lots of tables. In the center were people playing corn hole. There was a sand area for kids to play (beach theme?). Once the sun went down, lights hanging from rope above us were turned on, creating a nice ambiance. For a city that doesn't have much (this came from people who live there, not me), this was a nice way to spend a Saturday night. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by this new feature at the Wilmington riverfront. I used to live in Wilmo and bemoaned the lack of cool hangouts. Came on a pretty Friday evening for the opening night of Dave Bromberg's Big Noise Festival. They had an area roped off for people who had paid for the concert but everyone else could just eat, drink and socialize among picnic tables. There were nice entertainment options...cornhole and other games, and sandlots for kids to play in. The kids were having a blast. People brought their dogs. It was so great seeing people interact rather than looking at their phones. It's right on the Christina River and is very attractive. Food is only OK. There's just one food venue and I would describe it as fair. Burgers, salads, a Vietnamese sausage thing, hummus, etc. More choices needed or food trucks. Full bar. The bathrooms are in those trailer things but adequate. The stage had pretty good sound. They had a roped off VIP area for people who paid more but there was no advantage to doing that as the regular paying people stood just as close. Unfortunately the show ended shortly after 10 as Wilmington has an early ending for outside shows. There are mostly restaurants, office buildings, and the Blue Rocks stadium here so I'm not sure why that is. read more

Let's be real here. Food could be described as "carnival food," should not be compared to "pub fare," and rates 3/5 at best. However, the entertainment potential at Constitution Yards is absolutely a 5/5 and honestly, if you choose to go to a beer garden expecting haute cuisine, then shame on you and what are you doing in Wilmington, Delaware anyway? This was not my first visit, only my first review. So strap in, folx, and here we go: THE GREAT: man, the freaking entertainment. They have free cornhole. Axe throwing (only place in northern, possibly all of, DE that offers this). River view from the garden. Sand lot with toys for the kids or adult kids. HELL, even skee ball, air hockey, a few other arcade games (bring quarters for these). A giant wooden lawn chair perfect for photo ops. Serious 5/5 in this department. THE GOOD: Beer/alcohol selection. It's varied, they have the seltzers, local dogfish, tallboys, taps and cans. Another noteworthy in this section is the trailer bathrooms, which don't sound enticing except this is a 100% open air venue except for those amenities, which I believe are even AC, so what is the alternative? Portapotties, and no thanks to those. For an open air venue the bathroom solution is commendable. THE KINDA UGLY: look, shame on you if you go to an open air beer garden for the food. But if you do, yeah you won't be totally happy. This most recent time I was part of a very large group so I got to take pictures of many options and sample several of those. Here's a summation. The salad: CBY should do itself a favor and stop calling these salads. It sets up a false expectation of health. There was nothing healthy about my "salad," more like several pumps of thousand island dressing and oversized wantons. The fries: waffle, a plus. Barely seasoned, a minus. The burgers: huge. However, we came specifically to see the band last night, the 9 member Kickback Country, as the information put out by the band made them seem fantastic. Constitution Yards is a great place to grab a drink with friends along the Riverfront during the summer. It can get pretty busy on a Friday night, so if your heart is set on cornhole, you may be better off coming during the afternoon or another weeknight. They offer a decent number of draft beers (recently, when we were there, there was a Dogfishhead tap takeover), but if none grab your interest, there's canned beers, canned wines, and premixed frozen drinks as well. Prices are reasonable, especially for some of the larger cans. The food selection largely consists of various fried foods and burgers/sandwiches and is mediocre at best, although the waffle fries ($5) are excellent --- perfectly crispy and deliciously seasoned. For $3 extra, you can add beer cheese for dipping. The chicken fingers ($9) unfortunately don't come with their own fries, so if you want both, you're talking $14 for essentially a fast food meal, though the fries are definitely large enough to share. On past visits, we were given a number to bring to a table and our food was delivered, but on my most recent visit (when it was a whole lot busier), you had to wait for 10-15 min in the giant cluster of people by the food stand to grab your order. There's activities for everyone --- cornhole, giant Jenga, sandboxes for the kids, live music on select nights, comfy Adirondack chairs for relaxing. This year, they added axe-throwing for $20 per person per hour. I've done axe throwing elsewhere before, and I felt like there was significantly less guidance/tutorial than I've had with past attempts at axe throwing. You can reserve an axe lane online for $20 (which goes toward your first person), but we definitely didn't need a reservation despite how busy they were in general. Parking can be tough --- they now park cars on the grass in front, but there's limited space. Otherwise, you're stuck street-parking or using one of the commuter lots further down Justison St, but be aware that this can be crazy if the Blue Rocks are also playing. read more

Really cool place to hang out. It's a large open outdoor space with beer, food, areas to sit, areas to play games. We came here on a Friday night. Picked up some beers only because we were stuffed from our dinner. There's plenty of table and chairs to sit. A band was just packing up their equipment. I guess they play some nights. Not sure when. There's areas to play cornhole outside along with an indoor arcade area as well. Also, there's an axe throwing place right next door. We were watching people throw axes while drinking some beer. Really cool place to chill with friends with some ice cold drinks. They check your ID before you enter so I'm guessing there's no kids allowed. read more

It's a borderline 5-star spot, so I'll give you the skinny. Excellent location just off the downtown area. VERY spacious and COVID-safe and friendly, with plenty of tables spaced far apart. Beer selection was great, and the food was standard bar fare. I asked if they could break out the cornhole boards and they were more than happy to! In fact, they set up cornhole for other people. HUGE TV in the background with a game on. The best part was the axe-throwing area, on-site! They weren't busy on a Saturday, and the prices were decent enough ($25/per person per hour). Great outdoor place right on the river. Due to the current pandemic they have changed some things since the last time we were there. One being no yard games ex.. Cornhole. The sand pit seating has changed as well. Still a nice place to go just understand that it's modified due to circumstances. Plenty of seating and great views. Waffle fries with beer cheese is my go to. *They didn't have Brussels sprouts last time I went which I was really sad about. Last treat they had them and they were honestly the BEST Brussels sprouts I've ever had. They have a nice homemade arcade set up, jumbo jenga and *drum roll please* AXE THROWING!!!! I visited Constitution Yards over the summer with a friend and the experience was just okay. It was really packed, some people like a crowd with a lot going on but it was a little overwhelming for me. Though, it's nice to have an outdoor option for gathering during the pandemic. I'm not sure why but we weren't able to walk in from the riverfront, only from the street, which was a little inconvenient as we were coming from the river walk. I felt the drink options were just okay and same with the food. My food was underwhelming. Extremely simple, bar food. Seating was readily available - which was nice & surprising. It's just not for me, but if you're a young person who loves bars, you'll probably love it. read more

In visiting our daughter in Newark, DE so we decided to go the short drive to Wilmington to get dinner near the water. After dinner we walked along the boardwalk and discovered this outdoor venue. Lot's of people socializing, enjoying the beautiful night, sitting in the beachy chairs on the sand, playing cornhole (they even had an area for Axe throwing), grabbing a few drinks and just chillin!! We were able to get a cornhole game started (just go to the bar area and request the bean bags). A new favorite of mine when we are in DE next. read more

This is a great place to grab drinks with colleagues after work for happy hour. They have metal boxes that line the perimeter of the venue that get really hot in the summer, but there's nothing you can really do about it. I love that it's family friendly and there are kids running around, playing in the sandbox, etc. The big-size jenga is also super fun. The drinks are relatively well-priced but I must say the food is pretty expensive especially given the quality of what you get. Being close to the water is great. Just a note: When I went there yesterday I approached the bar and was told by the bartender "First round of drinks is on the house." I responded REALLY? And he said, no. I LOVE THIS BEER GARDEN! Probably because it's right in front of my apartment and my window faces it so I see how nice it is yearly. This is one of the best places you can go during the warm season for Happy Hour or for a good time to spend with friends. This is also a very family-friendly, and pet-friendly environment!! People bring their kids and dogs to play in the sand, arcade, outdoor games, or in the grass. Drinks are plentiful (beer/wine/liquor) and prices are average. Food is limited, but I would say their fries are one of the best and crunchiest you'll find in an outdoor beer garden. I went here with a friend on a Sunday afternoon during Covid. There was a football game on one of their large projector screens but it wasn't centered correctly so you didn't get much of the game. In fairness, we were not there for the game so we didn't mind but I think they should have fixed that up a bit for those who were there for that. We had a few beers and enjoyed the nice weather. The place is very big and offers ALOT of seating. They have outdoor porta potties which are kept pretty clean. Wonderful concept in downtown Wilmington DE. Toast takeout was easy. This is a young people's place for sure. However, for us older folks, the problem was that the drinks were too expensive and the food was absolutely terrible. I don't mind paying more but I need value for the money.
