Outdoor concerts in a lovely park. The temperature is so much nicer than the San Fernando valley. Great way to spend a summer evening

We brought our 7-year-old son to K1 Racing in Thousand Oaks specifically for their youth night,…read moreexcited for a fun family evening. Their own website clearly states to arrive at 6pm, with no mention of calling ahead, no reservation system, no waitlist. So that's exactly what we did. We arrived on time only to be turned away because the spots were already gone. Apparently there's an unwritten rule that regulars know to call ahead, information conveniently absent from their website. When we asked the general manager, Cameron, why this wasn't communicated anywhere publicly, her repeated response was essentially "we're popular", offered with the self-satisfaction of someone who sees no problem with the situation. No apology. No empathy. No acknowledgment that their website is actively misleading customers. Just a shrug and a reminder that this is "how you learn for next time." My son was in tears. What's most frustrating isn't the miscommunication, it's the attitude. A good manager finds a way to soften the blow, acknowledge the failure, and make a family feel heard. Cameron did none of that. When I pointed out that if calling ahead is policy, it should be stated publicly, she had no real answer, just more deflection about how popular they are. K1 may be too busy to care about losing one family's business, but we had been planning a birthday party there. That won't be happening. If you value clear communication and basic customer service, proceed with caution.

First race I placed low and then the second race, I finished in third place. You get the hang of it after a couple of races but overall, fun and they make sure you are safe. I would totally bring the boys out here and race each other.

I've driven by…read moreit many times and remembered going to Hobby City when it was at the same location (which has been closed for years). If you have kids, this is worth a visit and is affordable. Parking is free, and there are plenty of spaces when their isn't other events or services going on at the same location. My first visit was for a family kid's birthday party, and we were all pleasantly surprised. The party itself was organized well and had its own area inside one of the buildings. We had our own area decorated (you can bring your own decorations, too), and the food was fantastic for amusement park food. We had pizza, turkey sandwiches, chicken tenders, soda, and punch. We had about an hour for lunch before being released to enjoy the rest of the park. Many of the staff were kind during the party and throughout the park and made the experience that much nicer. The variety of rides here will please most young kids and adults. There are a couple of roller coasters, a carousel, a train that circles once around the park, and many more rides. I'm surprised how much they fit into the park space. There is also an arcade and a petting zoo. For food in the park, you have the standard burgers, pizza, tenders, pretzels, churros, ICEE, ice cream, and more. The prices aren't too bad either. Plenty of snacks and merch to purchase, too. There are also plenty of places to sit and relax, with shaded areas. Especially needed during a warm SoCal day. It was the first time for many guests in our party, and everyone enjoyed the experience. Many of the kids want to go back and have their birthday parties here next year, too.

The rides are definitely fit for my precious girl. She did not want to leave. The only negative I would say is that the arcade is waaay too loud. I recommend lowering the sounds of the machines if possible because even I found myself irritated inside but overall we had a great time. We'd come back again.

Some information for you: Parking $40 general area. $10 after 5pm. If you come just for the cinema, you can get the movies tickets to deduct the cost. There are 2 Express passes: unlimited for all rides or one time each ride. But no matter which pass you get, it doesn't really help for the newly opened Fast and Furious ride. Even with the express pass, you still need to wait in line u see the sunlight to get to the entrance, from there, you can get express access. But the wait before that is hours. Our favorite rides: Harry Potter Transformers Jurassic Park Mario ride is shooting game on the cart, a bit boring but the whole entire Mario world is just so colorful, brilliant and fun to stay. You can get the souvenir cup which gives you all day free refills, even with slushy. But only one or two cafe has slushy. You can fill the drinks at the machines. Best dining option is the bbq at Harry Potter. And of course you can't skip the famous butter beer, according to the staff, the slushy butter beer is the best, and we agree with it. There's the show outside Harry Potter castle before the Park closes.

It was a deal where you buy a day and get the second day free. We liked that you could choose the two days and it didn't have to be consecutive. The person at the booth that sold us the tickets was friendly and helpful. The theme park has several levels. You can ride the escalators to go up and down each level or walk the stairs. While in the theme park we spent time on each level enjoying the rides and the food. There were lines but the lines moved at a decent pace. The indoor rides were nice as they had air conditioning. The theming in each area was great. It was very immersive. It can be loud with all of the people but if you take ear plugs that can help with the sound. Most of the rides are family friendly but some are more intense rollercoasters. Overall spending time at Universal Studios was a lot of fun. The themes are bright and fun. The rides are family friendly with some being a little more intense. Everyone that worked there was friendly and it was easy to get around. It was a very positive and enjoyable experience.
