The experience at Universal Studios was great me and my sister enjoyed last night's Fan Fest we mainly came to enjoy most of the live attractions, rides, food and shopping. We would say that overall it was well worth it. Only thing that stood out where we think that could have been better was was the food from the Cocina Mexicana restaurant. This time we tried the Sailor Moon meal combo which came prepackaged, the texture from the sushi was dry, the octopus weiner as well. The potato salad and Tuxedo Mask cookie was tasty though. We won't be back for at least a year and that is only because my grandson will forget the horrid lines, no care of the handicapped and again, long lines. 1.5 hours for one 2 minute ride. It is expensive, parking is outrageous. The place is very pretty, but there is no where to sit and catch your breath. The show we saw was great. It is called Water Works and my grandson loved it. He also loved the few rides he could get on, waiting more than 1.5 hours for some. I think you can pay for a pass that gets you on a ride faster, but we are not rich. The food served there is very good and all enjoyed it. The stores are so expensive, no thanks. The staff is nice and they try to do a good job and I thank them for that. They also changed the hours on us at the last minute. I bought the tickets and read the hours. But they put up some event cutting us out of several hours. That is not okay. My first time at Universal Studios Hollywood! Absolute fun. Definitely a place one needs to go to take a break from being an adult. Lol The food and drinks were great. I really enjoyed the Butter Beer in the Harry Potter Universe! The amusement rides and interactions throughout the park were fun. The meal we had while there was a great portion size for the costs. Roughly $25 Per Person. I literally could've stayed in Super Nintendo World for hours punching loot boxes and gaining coin after buying the character power up bands in their gift store. Check it out! Revenge of the Mummy was a great ride! Freaking Jurassic World. So good. You won't leave this ride dry. Thanks Dilophosaurus! Semi spoiler alert: I can't wait until the Fast and Furious ride opens! A 72mph coaster whose individual cars twist and turn as they travel on the track! There are some attractions and entertainment I look forward to going back like checking out WaterWorld, the Raptor Encounter, and expecting more shows. We did take the studio tour which was nice, but I heard they cut a bit of it out and it was shorter that day than was expected. It was cool seeing the sets where movies and TV shows were filmed. All in all, must go for families, couples needing a weekend get away and those who just want to do something different with their summer. Go! You won't regret it. read more

Wow. It has been almost twenty years since I last went to Universal Studios Hollywood with my family. So much has changed but in the best way possible. One fact that stood out to me was how there are two levels and one of them requires a few escalators to get to. The bottom lot holds the Mummy Ride, Jurassic Park Ride, Transformers, and Super Mario Kart. The top lot holds a few more of the family friendly rides including Simpsons Land (this is a focal point to find the bottom lot), Secret Life of Pets, Minions, etc. There is an upgraded feature called the Universal Express pass and you can either take advantage of the unlimited feature or enjoy each ride one time. Grab a beer at Moe's inside Simpson's Land and I really enjoyed my time at Diagon Alley. If you're looking for a free locker during your rides, a few of them offer it! read more

Guest relations have great staff. Just wish they could fix some of the issues the park has. I've made quite a few comments about how they do things and most of them can be fixed with simple logic. I don't know why they are sometimes all about a few extra dollars from the public. I don't t want this to be a forum to complain so I will say that the park is improving their rides and entertainment. They obviously need more land to build it the way they want. The guest relations staff seem to be limited on what they can do to rectify issues. I'm glad they take reports and I hope that they learn from them. They have some pretty good food available and I think most of their prices are fair. Alcoholic beverages are steep as that is the case with all theme parks. I am 100% bias on this review because it's hard to complain about anything when you were gifted tickets to come to USH. That said here's my review. Parking was admittedly frustrating, they literally have you going around in circles. I was redirected to go to the booth to pay, then to make a u turn and go back exactly where I was trying to park to begin with; it could had been so much easier not just for me but others that I saw as well wondering where we park? How we pay? Can I go in here? Signs, signs, signs could have fixed these issues. Once we found a parking spot in the "accessible" area it was really easy to walk to the front of the park entrance from the elevator. Once inside we made a game plan of what we wanted to do : Tram ride, Mario Karts, Simpsons & Hogwarts where on our must list. This is an amazing place, but they say there's a single rider option available, but in reality, no ride ever offers it. If you're going solo, you have to wait hours for all the big attractions. For the whole day, you'll only get to ride 2 major rides with 2 - 3hr wait times. Also fast and furious is still not open. At least app pre order dining is finally available. Take the days and go. Take a few extra after to recover after spending the days at the park, you'll need them. A lot of walking and moving with very little rest. I recommend this location.m it's one of the best ever!!! Come have fun bring your family and friends. Lots of options to eat from and lots of options to drink from. You'll want to keep coming back. Every visit is different and worth it even with slightly bad weather and things running you can bar the park to your self. Do yourself a favor and just save for the VIP. It's worth it. Much better than all the other parks for its value vs cost. Not a fan that park hours aren't posted and are publish 1 month before as we need timely notice for planning. My youngest son had a field trip. So I followed with my 2 other sons. I had a blast! Mario land was amazing. It was busy and normal but it was California's spring break week. I rode mummy and Jurassic world twice. Mummy is my favorite ride. Transformers was kinda boring. My kids didn't like it. We all loved Mario kart ride. We didn't get to ride tram tour at all. But we did ride Harry Potter twice. The turkey leg was my favorite meal next to the fish n chips from three broomsticks. Love the alcohol variety to numb my feet pain from all the walking. You need to play and win 3 games to power up your watch so that you can play the main game. The main game is so awesome. The last time I came to Universal Studios, there was a Wild West Stunt Review, a Collapsing Bridge on the Tram Ride, and a Blues Brothers Stage Show where we got a VHS tape with excerpts from the 1980 movie where they spliced edits of my family into it. Needless to say, it's been a while since I was here. And while there are a few live shows still here at the park, they seem to have closed the bulk of them down in favor of thrill rides, like you'd see at Six Flags, and totally immersive experiences, like you'd see at Disneyland. In some ways, that really works. In other ways, I have my issues. Regardless, Universal Studios Hollywood was a lot of fun! Brought my wife here mainly for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She's a huge fan, loves the books and movies, and has finished the game through multiple playthroughs. I was able to purchase her own Gryffindor class robes (Ravenclaw for me) online so we'd be ready for our day. She was lucky (and very thrilled) to be selected at Ollivander's to have a wand choose her to be its owner. We had all of our gear personalized. We rode the rides multiple times. We drank Butter Beer in multiple forms. We saw a Tri-Wizard Tournament Show. And we spent more than half our day in this one limited area, enjoying ourselves immensely. This alone made our day worth it. Additionally, we took the Tram ride, which was as fun as I remembered. Thrill rides, like the Mummy and Flight of the Hippogriff were fantastic and well done. Some of the other rides, like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, as well as the Transformers 3D, rely a bit too much on watching movies for the majority of the ride, though they do blend in some practical effects as well to make up for it; Forbidden Journey does this pretty masterfully. The only disappointment was the Mario Kart ride, which I was very much looking forward to and came away shaking my head. Regardless of all of this, the queues for these rides are beautifully crafted, making the waits to get on a delight. And we came during the off-season, making waits for all rides just as long as it took to walk the ramps. About the only real issue I had was fitting into the restraints. I'm not monstrously bloated, but I am a bit overweight. And I found the bulk of the harnesses I had to squeeze into required a deep breath and push down to click. I can't imagine anyone over 250lbs having fun trying to do most of these rides. In the end, an off-season day made for quick ride waits and a relatively cheap ticket made for a very reasonable experience; leaving plenty of money to be able buy as much treats and merchandise to fill that hole in our souls. An impressive variety of rides and shows gives something for everyone to try. And what Universal has done with their IP's is pretty creative and very enjoyable. I wouldn't put Universal Studios Hollywood above Disneyland in anyway, but it's still a fun time and worth trying in if you live in Southern California. read more

Universal Studios Hollywood is definitely a theme park for kids old enough to remember their visit. Not much in the way of preschool properties so I'm not sure why anyone would expect otherwise. Anyway, we did take advantage of the early admission for Super Nintendo World. Worth it for your first visit because not only will the Mario Kart line be too long the rest of the day, but you can get a head start on the other lower level attractions. The land and queue for the Mario Kart ride are impressive and immersive. The ride itself is pretty cool, but the helmets are heavy and cumbersome. Definitely a one and done attraction for anyone that doesn't want to invest in a band and spend their day playing live action Mario in this section of the park. We had a reservation for an early lunch at Toadstool Café. The food was above average but overpriced (our bill was on par with upscale restaurants at Disneyland.) My son and I really liked the pesto aioli with our sandwiches. The truffle fries had a very subtle flavor, so if you find truffle fries heavy anywhere else you'll prefer them here. We would have liked a little more of the truffle flavor. The tiramisu was amazing. If you go for no other reason, get that. We had dinner in "Springfield." It was just okay. We were able to ride everything we wanted, some rides twice. The only line we encountered that was over an hour was for Jurassic World later in the day but we already had our group picture so we just spent a few minutes in the single rider lane instead. That said, pictures aren't included like they are at Disneyland/DCA, and the prices are unreasonably high unless you get them all. The only big disappointment of the day was Bruce demonstrating why he was also called the Great Wide Turd. He was broken at the time we took the tour tram. Apparently your best bet is first thing. The earthquake sequence also didn't work. Other experiences were cool, and I loved seeing the Nope set. The set used for the Good Place was in use and unavailable, though. We did have a surprise encounter with a certain mama's boy. Human performers are so much more reliable than animatronics. We were also surprised that the escalator between levels was actually three or four escalators (and one or two of those was two stories high), but there's an incredible view of the San Fernando Valley between escalators. Not my all time favorite theme park but definitely still enjoyable. My favorite time to visit is during the holidays. The decorations are so fun and festive. You definitely have to meet the Grinch if you can. I highly recommend planning out your trip beforehand. If not, you'll find yourself taking the escalator up and down multiple times since this park has many levels and inclines. Also, sometimes they have specials on their annual passes. The family and I had a great time here. We came on a Monday morning. No lines, not much traffic, not much of a crowd. The kiddos had a straight shot to the character meetings and photo ops, I had a straight shot to the food. The most expensive thing was parking and the gift shops ($30 for a girls headband and like $20 for a small bag of chocolate covered pretzels). Decided to splurge and get the VIP tour at $500/person and it was worth it!!! Started the day at the VIP check in where they have unlimited breakfast and drinks. Your guide will come and introduce themselves and get you ready for the day. Our guide was Karen, and she was AMAZING! Went to the lower lot and got to walk all the way to the front and right on every ride immediately. Had a buffet lunch for an hour in a VIP dining area where a few characters stop by and say hello. Dracula was my favorite. Our guide then took us on the studio bus tour and since we were VIP, we got to get off the bus and learn some very interesting facts. We skipped the last part of our tour (Water world) so we could go and explore on our own. We got to continue to use our VIP passes as fast pass. Just a little bit of a wait. Overall, amazing experience and worth trying at least once. read more

Universal is such a fun place to go to!!! I am a Disney lover through and through but Disney always breaks the bank. I think Universal is a great option if you like theme parks, rides, food and the experience for a much lesser price. We bought single day tickets and added the early entry into super nintendo world, and the prices were very reasonable. Food was good everywhere we tried, the longest line we waited in was about 45 minutes, but we accomplished everything we wanted to see and do in one day. I highly recommend Universal, it is great for all age groups! read more

This review reflects my experience during normal park hours and the Studio Tour/tram ride only. It does not apply to special event nights such as Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) or Fan Fest, which can be a very different experience. As an AP holder I still give 5 Stars!!! They really treat their AP holders well!! Recently they had removed the 3D version of the King Kong ride, this is just me personally, I'd find it fine as 2D version. The tram ride is still fun and informative, however...because there is no longer the Fast and the Furious attraction, I get the feeling the tour guide extends the tram ride to equal amount of time on the tour by talking more and share with us more videos on the tram. Only reason this got 4 stars was because the Customer Service located further in the park by Starbucks, when it comes to their lines, it is very very disorganized, the Team Members are not even aware of this...there is a rope line with a sign that reads Line Start(I wished I had taken a picture)as we had a question about our passes...apparently the Team Members were just accepting people who just walking in, who were not even in line as we were standing there out in the heat. My husband brought it to their attention and she said "I thought you were with the same party". Uuuuhhh...no, how can that be??? We were still standing outside! Anyways as it turned out, they can't help us and sent us to Customer Relations by the entrance of the park. Now...we had a better experience there!! They were organized and helpful. Otherwise I would give this 5 stars if it wasn't for the line debacle. And as always I do love that there is a Starbucks here and Hello Kitty Store. OH! Also, if there is someone who is a Head of Universal Studios reading this...I'm here because I love the vibe and certain rides, and as the new Fast and the Furious ride is coming soon and you also have Harry Potter ride...I'd love to see Universal Studios add more attractions for guests who are prone to motion sickness or prefer non-thrill rides, since not everyone can enjoy intense roller coasters or simulator-based experiences. Before getting into universal security and guest services can be rude. I had a special needs child and they were giving me the run around and sending me all over to different places despite me calling ahead of time to make arrangements. What happened was I bought my tickets online and I called to change the date. There was no issues with my tickets, but my son's ticket. The date wasn't changed so a lady told me to go to the ticket box, at that specific box that I went to, where I was told to go, the guest services person told me that was only for military or some sort of special people so they told me to go somewhere else. At the new ticket box, they told me to go to guest services because they can't do date changes. It was about half an hour of sending me a different places and waiting in line for nothing, again, I even called Universal prior to getting there to make sure it wouldn't be an issue with my ticket and the date change. I was so upset as I had to do this with my child who could barely handle waiting in line. I complained to corporate and they try to make it right by giving me an express pass, that I declined. I felt like they were not listening to me. I have a special needs child. We can't go on rides anyways and if we can go on a ride, my child has the accessibility pass. They ended up giving me a voucher for some cookies. After that horrible first experience, we do continue going to Universal Studios because once you are in Universal, guest relations and the workers are awesome. They're very kind. We do have the accessibility pass and they make it very easy for me to submit my paperwork. They called me to address my concerns and were able to accommodate without giving me the runaround and humiliating myself and questioning my family's needs. I bought the annual pass and I just renewed them and got 15% off. We decided to keep going because my kids love the characters and it's never as crowded as other theme parks. If you can get past the rudeness prior to entry and avoid talking to people in guest services and security, Universal would be good for family trips. read more

Universal Studios Hollywood has officially crossed into straight-up robbery territory. Let's start with the biggest issue: the hours. The park only operates from 10 AM to 6 PM. Eight hours (1/16/26). That's it. For a major theme park charging premium prices, that feels like daylight robbery. My wife and I paid $458 total -- and that includes Express Passes. For almost five hundred dollars, you'd expect to comfortably experience most, if not all, of the attractions. Nope. Even with Express, we still couldn't ride everything. Lines were still long, one of the rides broke down, and time just disappeared. Now imagine paying this much without Express. There's no way you're getting on more rides than we did. You're basically paying hundreds of dollars to stand in lines and constantly check the time because the park closes absurdly early. The rides themselves are fine, but few needs an upgrade, but nothing here justifies the price-to-time ratio. Between the limited hours, overcrowding, and insane ticket cost, it feels like Universal is squeezing every dollar out of guests while giving less in return. Bottom line: * Extremely overpriced * Short park hours * Express Pass doesn't guarantee much * Stressful instead of fun * $55 parking is criminal Unless you're okay overpaying for an incomplete experience, I'd honestly think twice before coming back. Universal needs to either lower prices or extend hours -- because right now, this just feels like a cash grab. read more

Universal Studios Hollywood felt like a must-do stop since we were taking a family member to Los Angeles for the first time. It's such an iconic experience, and in that sense, it definitely delivers. The absolute highlight of the park is the movie studio tour. That alone makes the visit worthwhile and is truly what sets Universal apart from other theme parks. If you enjoy rides, you'll also have a great time. That said, despite some newer additions over the last 10 years, this visit felt very similar to the last time I came about a decade ago. There wasn't a strong sense of novelty overall, especially if you've been before. We visited during the holiday season, and while the festive atmosphere was nice, the ticket prices felt a bit steep for what you're getting. I'm a new GOLD passport holder the perks are good and does not break the bank. Parking came with the pass , easy to walk in the park no overly crowded. However lots of steps, escalators so were comfortable shoes. The park is clean and staff everywhere was very nice. The rides are ok nothing spectacular. One show which is Waterworld a must see. Park closes on the earlier side. They lack the fireworks and shows which I feel people would want to see. But people on budgets this is a great place. Good prices are ok but you can bring your own food. During hot weather they do have fans with misters which helps. They also don't have a lot of outdoor seating under shade areas so keep that in mind.. Lots of shops and areas that sell goodies. I will be back.. read more

Where else can you go to check out a real life movie studio. There are days when you are even lucky enough to see film come to life and catch a few stars waving at the trams as you pass through the lower lot. It has been quite busy the past few times we've been but the perk to having a pass is we can wander around a bit, grab a bite to eat and head out since we know we can come back. Universal has a wide variety of food and snacks which is nice. The meat pies at the little cart in Harry Potter is always tasty and a nice little bite (w/our pass it is about $6 and some change too) want and very filling. I also love to hit up the Irish Pub before wandering around the parks. Tram ride is a must, if you like coasters the Mummy is a blast too. I believe most rides have a single rider line (does not always move very fast though) which is nice and can be a time saver if you don't mind riding separately from your party. Lot to look at and do though. If you are planning a one and done trip front of the line passes are available or even the VIP (which gets you exclusive access to places around the lot like the prop room, I believe breakfast if early, special buffet lunch, your own group tram, front of the line, and other fun stuff). If you are in town visiting and this will be your only visit or you are looking to do something special the VIP is pretty cool. We did it for our honeymoon 20+ years ago and have also done the RIP version during HHN a few years back which was cool too (I think both have changed and probably gotten better since we last went on one). read more

I had a great time here at Universal Studios, I ordered the gold season pass which covers good value with parking, discounts on stores and very little black out dates for the year, it was kind of pricey for $300; but, it has the best value in my opinion, even more so than regal theatre's unlimited one year subscription. The rides or attractions/rides here are somewhat decent. My favorites are the studio tour, transformers, Jurassic world and the mummy. There will soon to be the best ride there called fast and furious, which is taking forever to open. It's a new coaster similar to the mummy. One show I recommend watching is the water world show, they basically took the best music from the movie and did stunts on a stage, very entertaining and it has been said it has been there for 30 years. One my least favorite would be the king fu panda due to its kiddy nature for toddlers and bizarre theater. It was short and a little cheesy. The minions ride was ridiculously long for what it is. Super Nintendo world is very bizarre and it is reminiscent of super Mario land for the Nintendo 64. I rode the ride there and got the least points in my group, I didn't like it. If you suck at video games, I would feel demoralized. You can buy a watch here for $50 and you have access to the games, if you beat three games it unlocks a level where you battle a final boss named bowser for a golden mushroom token. I lost in one of the games as toad and gave up. Food here is mediocre at best, I suggest going to universal city walk to order something instead. The Harry Potter ride is one of my personal favorite rides here. The ambiance of the world is fun and exciting. I bought a $60 wand here and it works well. As for the other attractions or shows, they were very entertaining, not much else here other than souvenir shops and the Halloween horror nights. I don't like the Halloween horror nights as it interferes with the additional time needed to cover everything in the park without an express pass. This express pass costs an additional $180 just to save time. It is worth it as the lines here are ridiculous even on a weekday that it eats up most of the day. The hours are 10-6pm but I felt like I needed to rush everything just to get a decent experience, this includes a cardio session I could otherwise do at the gym. Be prepared to run to each ride if you want to cover everything within your 8 limited hours due to this annoying Halloween horror night in October. I also believe this is the hours of Christmas and November due to the activities. I tried two of the holiday items: Who Pudding and the Who-Bilation Funnel Cake. I'll start by saying the menu photos looked way better than what you actually get. The Who Pudding was just okay. I expected something more substantial, but it was a very small dessert and honestly looked nothing like the menu picture. Flavor-wise, it was fine -- not bad, just underwhelming for the price. The funnel cake was completely basic. I asked for everything on the side since I was taking it home, which they did, but there was nothing special about it at all. Just a standard funnel cake -- nothing memorable, nothing exciting. This is kind of my ongoing issue with Universal Studios food in general. Every year, for every event -- Halloween Horror Nights, holidays, everything -- the food is consistently disappointing. The drinks are expensive, not tasty, and don't even give you a buzz. The food feels like the cheapest ingredients dressed up with high prices. Universal food is not good. They might take a cue from Disneyland, if we compare their foods, I'd like to say universal is ok but honestly, it's not even close. Disney wins by a landslide when it comes to food quality and value. It's frustrating because there are people who genuinely love Universal, but it often feels like the consumer experience isn't a priority -- and unfortunately, that same lack of care shows in how employees are treated too. Most locals have visited. I am pleased to say I've been recently. No more "Back to the Future" and the "Jurassic Park" ride has been renewed. There's even talk of the "Fast and Furious" franchise coming as a ride. read more

Always a blast with my kid.:... he loves it... yes it's busy but not as busy as Disney lol.... Just something to do and burn some calories:) can't wait for the new rollercoaster to open fast and the furious I think my next year. read more

Such a good time. Our littles could probably wait to go again till they are bigger (6-4) as there were things they weren't tall enough for. Get the pass that gets you the lightning passes. The waits can get a bit long. Use the app to pre-order food and GET THE CORNDOG. I'm still thinking about their corn dogs. We had a blast and didn't leave till closing. The studio tour was a big let down, they made a big deal about 3D glasses and we didn't need them at all. Also it was night time so there were things we couldn't see.
