Outside, there are two adjacent outdoor kid's playgrounds. Near the entrance they have juice and fruit vendors and a balloonist. Entry fee is very reasonable at under $50 for family of three with in-and-out privileges. Inside the museum, its like 80% outdoor exhibits and 20% indoor. They have an onsite cafe and food vendors throughout. The outdoor exhibits has a park area dedicated to physics. You'll see fans, pulleys, etc. to help your child appreciate scientific concepts while having fun. They also have tie-dye stations, climbing structures, tricycle race tracks, live music, and my son's favorites - the sandbox and pretend farmer's market and veggie patch. I noted lots of friendly staff dressed as camp rangers working with the kids and maintaining order with a smile, which is huge. Inside the buildings, you'll see traditional kid activities like toy trains, quiet reading areas, legos, and even more climbing structures. Looking forward to coming back next time we're in the area. The in-and-out policy is nice since they have lots of nearby offsite restaurants in nearby Old Pasadena.

We called again when we were 30 minutes out to ask about height requirements. Our call was missed -- and they called us back, so they had our number. We drove from Simi Valley to Sherman Oaks to find the entire place shut down for a private event. When we arrived, Lucine informed us that the party had upgraded their package, which resulted in the entire venue being booked. They had time to make signs for the party but couldn't take two minutes to call us back and save us the trip. Or save my 3-year-old the disappointment. When I said I'd be sharing my experience, Lucine handed over free passes -- then asked if I'd still be leaving a review. That told me everything about the gesture. It wasn't an apology. It was damage control. We may give them another chance, but this visit was sloppy and unprofessional. Call ahead if you're planning a trip. And maybe call twice. Edit to add: I already noted in my original review that an attempt was made to remedy the situation -- bringing it up again here with a dollar figure attached feels more like a rebuttal than a genuine response. For accuracy, what was offered to my three children was two rides and an arcade card each. I'd also push back on the characterization that it was 'gladly accepted.' When you're walking out the door disappointed with three kids, accepting something in the moment isn't the same as feeling made whole. As for the 155 five-star reviews -- a business that opened in September with 155 Google reviews but only 21 on other platforms raises valid questions. That kind of gap doesn't happen organically. It happens when customers are specifically directed to one platform. An honest review is not an attack. I shared our experience so other families can make informed decisions, and I stand by every word of it.

We got there yesterday late afternoon/evening and I was more excited to get on those slides and other games that they had, than her granddaughter was. They only allow kids between the ages of 1 to 7. Thank God we qualified and were in that age group:-)) No, her granddaughter is 5, soon to be 6 in April. They have great staff, a lot of activities to do. Rebecca & Susanna were both very kind, patient, helpful and nice with everyone. Not only with the kids. They also have a small store where you can buy drinks and snacks. The place is spotless clean and very welcoming. I was watching other kids having so much fun with their parents/grandparents. Even made couple of friends. They also do events here and the cost of 3 different packages are pretty steep. So if you have some extra money to splurge for a birthday party or any other event... this is the place to go! Everything was pretty, pastel colors and the rest is up to you. Go try this place out and you will definitely go back whenever you want. So much to do here at Griffith Park Public Recreation center…read more The pool is closed. The 12 tennis courts are always full. They do have lights! Some pro only courts. The website states there are free and pay courts. Go to laparks.org for all info. Kiddie playground looks fun. There are a few picnic tables in park next to playground. They just turned 2 of tables into ping pong tables, they are next to center court closest to Riverside Drive. The soccer field always looks very well maintained, a lot of games/ matches played here. The bathrooms are next to tennis courts across from centre court, opposite sides of building with pro shop. Tables outside of pro shop area. Free parking lot shared by tennis/ (pool)/ soccer so it fills up fast. Free not metered parking on Riverside Drive. Especially on weekends we see a lot of people parking on Los Feliz Blvd in front of the apartments and walking to the courts, park, soccer. They also hold Dog training classes in the park next to the kiddie playground. Shortcut to LA River park is behind tennis soccer field. You go up over freeway and end up other side of love lock bridge. Great way to avoid crossing the freeway entrances and exits on Los Feliz - so dangerous.

If your kid is a train lover, this is a great FREE place to visit. I still can't believe it was free lol. There's a play place for kids inside the museum, but you have to provide your own train toy for the tracks there. There's a gift shop near the museum where you can buy those. We bought our son one of those that you pull backwards, then it goes fast in forward motion on its own. Totally worth the $12 price tag because he hasn't put it down since, and even sleeps with it lol. You can't get into any of the trains, BUT there is a black one under the awning where many of them are that you CAN go up into. The kids were obsessed. There's plenty of space on the property to setup a picnic for the day that doesn't involve having to rent one of the covered spots. We were there for 3-4 hours walking around the grounds with the kids - a huge group of 3-7 year olds - and none of them got bored.

My family and I have been coming to Travel Town for many years…read more After entering travel town and walking past the many old steam engines that display there is a ticket booth and entrance to the miniature railroad. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for children, the same as the Griffith railroad on the other side of park. The ride is a brisk 12 minutes or so and takes you around travel town with two laps across that time. The whole breadth of travel town is available to be seen, including the many steam engines, miniatures, gift shop, and more. The train you ride itself is comfortable, covered, clean and well maintained. They make an excellent ride for a family. Our kids loved it! As with Travel town's sister railroad on the other side of the park, I recommend sitting near the back of the train to avoid the exhaust smell. The staff are very friendly and clearly love their jobs - I don't blame them! The rest of travel town is otherwise quite limited. Aside from a large number of locomotives, and nice areas for picnic, the museum and other sites are fairly limited. You come to travel town to see the big locomotives and ride the miniature train - that's about it. A playground would go a long way! Thankfully, admission is free and parking is plentiful. You need not budget more than two hours for your visit unless you are a true train aficionado. Nonetheless, Travel Town is an excellent, worthwhile stop for families and especially those with children 8 and under.
