We had an appointment for routine maintenance of our air conditioner. It was scheduled that they would come between 7:30 AM and 12 noon. I was up and dressed and ready for them by 7:30 and had arranged to be home for that time. They didn't show up at that time. I finally got a call at 1:15 PM saying they would be here in an hour. Well they didn't show up, so I called the service line at 4 PM and they said we were still scheduled for that day and they would call when they were coming. Well, after waiting all day, they never showed up. No call, no apology. Pretty sad business practice. read more

I recently received a paper from Constellation Home saying that I owed them two months of home warranty service. I pulled up my BGE account and realized that Constellation Home has been billing me for service ever since I cancelled. I have confirmed that my account notes do show that I cancelled service. Now, I would like a refund for the payments deducted from my bank account since February 1, 2021. I have called 11/4, twice on 11/7, 11/11, 11/14, 11/22 and now today, which is 11/24. I PRAY FOR YOUR COMPANY DOWNFALL During COVID, I requested assistance from a company with whom I had about a 7-year contract to service the heating unit in my rental property. They sent subcontractors, who not only broke the unit but also left live wires exposed and damaged the building's breaker. Without notifying me or my tenant, they left the property, forcing me to hire another company to fix the issue. This new company informed me of the extensive damages, which resulted in approximately $14,000 in repairs. Initially, I tried to resolve the matter with the manager, Darren Robinson, asking for reimbursement for the losses I incurred as a loyal customer. Unfortunately, I was met with appalling treatment--he even hung up on me. Despite years of waiting, a court trial, and numerous attempts to obtain a copy of the contract I signed (which they could never produce), I was awarded less than a third of the repair costs. This incident triggered a series of unfortunate events, leading to the loss of the property I inherited from my father, who worked as a janitor for 60 years to secure it. The rental income helped support my mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's. I have had a service contract for over 15 years with them. I have used it a handful of times and have been satisfied. Lately things have gone downhill. I do not recommend this company. I have been without heat for a week now. They ordered a very common part they should have had in stock. Nobody has called back and nobody is answering the phones. It is the middle of winter and I have no heat when I have been paying monthly for years for a contract I have barely used. By the way, the last time I used them it was for my dishwasher. They did a very poor job and it is still not right. I didn't even waste the time to have them come back out. I only kept the service contract for emergencies like this and again they dropped the ball. I am unaware of ever having signed up with Constellation Home. The first communication from them was a bill with several months' charges. Phone calls to them result in chains of transfers to people who cannot deal with the problem or "I cannot cancel your contract but I will transfer you to someone who can" but the next person says the same thing. The system never operated correctly, and the company has consistently refused to repair or resolve the issue. Detailed Timeline: 2022-12-20: Coil failure in the old unit. Decided to replace it with a new one from Constellation due to their warranty offer. 2022-12-23: Signed contract for the new unit. 2022-12-30: Unit installed. 2023-01-13: Service appointment due to no heat. Technician fixed incorrect installation. 2023-07-05: Unit not cooling; service appointment scheduled. 2023-07-06: Technician identified issues but left the unit running after disabling safety feature, leading to water damage. Technician later apologized for the mistake. 2023-07-07: Unit not cooling again; service ticket opened. 2023-07-08: Technician stated the necessary part was on backorder. 2023-08-18: Technician arrived with wrong parts, behaved aggressively, and police were called. 2023-08-28: Scheduled service call; no show. 2023-11-28: No show for a service appointment. Do not purchase the Constellation Home Energy Warranty Plan; it's a scam. I had the Home Energy Warranty Plan for my furnace, AC, and water heater. My furnace needed a new motor and wheel, and instead of replacing these parts, Constellation Home ghosted me. They ignored my phone calls and outright lied to me when I could get someone on the phone. I could not get a straight answer from the customer service or the Parts Department for over a week. All customer service would say is that they "understood my frustration and were sorry for my inconvenience." I have been without heat in my home for over a week and the temperatures are below 20 degrees. Constellation Home Energy had NO INTENTION OF REPLACING THE PARTS IN MY FURNACE. Seems like there are some frustrated reviewers here, so I offer a different experience. I lost power to half my house about 5 days ago. I made multiple reports to BGE with no success, so I called BGE Home to get an electrician. They initially indicated that the first available appointment was early September, but when I explained that the outage affected both my kitchen and A/C they provided an appointment within 48 hours. That delay was fine as I was already off work so the proposed appointment was perfect. The tech called well in advance, and quickly confirmed what I suspected(one phase was out). He reached a live human at BGE (the utility) and arranged for a service call My tech was David R (leaving last name off for his privacy) and he was GREAT. This man truly seems to love his work and his positive attitude put a smile on my face. I have a couple non-emergency future electrical projects and not only will I call BGE Home but I will also request (if not insist) on having David do the work. His upbeat manner and enthusiasm made a annoying situation much, much more tolerable. BGE Home (if you're reading this)--David is tremendous ambassador for your brand. read more

Terrible misleading scammy company, using illegal false advertising. I bought a service contract for water heater and it clearly says $0 costs for parts and labor and covers everything except what's mentioned in the exclusions list. My water heater is not repairable and needs to be replaced and I was told I'd have to pay for the whole unit, while the unit itself is NOT mentioned in the exclusions list, so clearly illegal to advertise as $0 charge for parts and labor and then say I have to buy the whole water heater since they can't repair it. They know exactly what they are doing with advertising it the way they do, knowing customers will assume the unit itself is covered. Very dirty sales tactic and calling customer service was a waste of time. 2nd level supervisor told me "we will just have to agree to disagree on whether it should be covered or not, and there's nothing left to discuss". We purchased a Home Comfort Service Plan and the benefits were so poor that we ended up not using the services and had to cancel. After we canceled the plan, Constellation Home refused to recognize that we had canceled the plan and continued to send us letters claiming that we had opted to renew our plan automatically for another 12 months. We called them three times to stop the auto-renew but we kept on receiving notices that our plan would be auto-renewed regardless of our cancellation requests. I called Constellation, spoke to Christine, who seemed kind and accommodating, and explained the situation. I had to call back on Sunday, July 23rd with the serial number of the water heater and to scheduled Constellation to do the work on Monday, July 24th (with a 12-4 pm window.) Two men arrived, one after 4pm and said that I would have to dismantle a bookcase before they could do the work. I complied and rescheduled for Wednesday, July 26th. I left work early, and waited till 3:45 and no one called or came to the house. I called Christine and she told me the window is from 12-5 not 12-4. I explained that our basement is flooding, mold is beginning to appear, and we need the job done ASAP. Christine was no longer kind and accommodating and restated that the window is from 12-5 pm. Christine then asked for full payment for the job because she wanted to leave work by 5:30 pm. I said that I am unwilling to pay in full for a service that I have yet to receive. I called Christine at 5:15 pm and asked what was going on. She said that she would speak to the technician and get back to me. She called back and said that he was 40 minutes away. She then asked if he should make the trip at this point because it was so late. Now my basement is flooding, mold is growing and I had to destroy a bookcase to accommodate Constellation Home. I tightened my chin strap and called their renowned Customer Service Department. I told the young lady that my policy had been cancelled on 3/1/23. She reviewed thei records on the computer and acknowledged that my contract had indeed been cancelled on 3/1/23. She even read back to me the Confirmation #, which I verified. By now, you know I'm a glutton for punishment so, I asked the nice agent to explain to me how I could cancel my contract on 3/1/23, why in the world would Constellation generate a bill on 3/17/23? Her res was priceless, "Mr. A, I wish I could answer that question but I don't work in Billing." Her parting advice was to disregard the bill. Constellation, get your stuff together. I am very sad to see such low reviews for BGE Home. I like how one of the other reviewers phrased it, I will offer a different experience. First let me be clear we pay an awful lot of money and have our whole house covered with everything they offer, from electric, plumbing, appliances right down to the well and septic. We've had this coverage for 7 years. Mostly things in our house have not gone wrong, and we have newer appliances so as my spouse never tires of pointing out, we lose money every year. But I like the security of a whole house coverage. And, when we do need them, by and large, they have been great. No, I don't like having to wait 6 weeks for an appliance appointment, but they got me a plumber very fast (2 days). Maybe the appliances appointment, where the policy gives you unlimited visits and no deductible, is why it takes so long, vs. the plumbers, $50 deductible. I had to pay $4400 for new AC two years ago, because whatever part(s) went wrong was on the exclusions list. I didn't much like that either. What I do like is that their techs are usually really good, and they fix the problem. So right now, it's a cold snap. My heating went on the fritz yesterday (Saturday). Today, Sunday, they had a heating engineer out. This guy was amazing. He usually doesn't work in my neighborhood, he explained, but he had the Sunday beat. He diagnosed and explained what was wrong, he did some (yucky) cleaning of the system, he changed a part he had on his truck, all while entertaining me while we swapped stories about our teenagers. My heating is now working beautifully. He called when he said he would, showed up on time, wore his booties in the house, didn't accidentally let my cat out, social distanced to 6 feet and it it cost me nothing. I have not really used them much during COVID so I called recently because it felt like all the little stuff was building up. The lady kindly and helpfully set up five different service appointments for me, one after the other, and explained how with one of them, if I had actually got a new cooktop because the old one was beyond repair (as I said I was considering since four of six rings are out along with the knobs that I can't get on amazon), they would install it instead of trying to fix the old one. I wouldn't have thought to ask for this. So that's my review, a different story. And for the guy who was working Sundays (and often works 7 days a week), 6 stars if I could. read more

I would never recommend BGE Home to anyone needing their type of service. Had BGE Home recommend a new gas water heater as they said the pilot light and burner unit was rusted out and so old they would not be able to get a replacement burner as the water heater was no longer being made. They quoted $1902.00 as the price for new Heater and installation. They charged me $89.10 for this analysis. Got a 2nd opinion from Bamford Plumbing and Heating. For $165.00 Mr. Bamford evaluated, relit the pilot, waited to ensured the burner would turn off once the water was hot, and instructed me in how to relight the pilot. He further informed me that burner units were universal and he would have been able to get a replacement if it was needed. I can highly recommend Bamford Plumbing and Heating. read more

I've been a customer for a few years, but can't accept the poor scheduling service any longer. When the techs are actually at your home, they are great, but scheduling is a complete mess. Getting an appointment (even pre-COVID) is challenging - usually 3-4 weeks out.   On the day of the appointment, the tech will call you in advance, but they don't leave a message - if you don't answer or call back right away, they move on. A few weeks ago we had an appointment for a freezer repair, and despite scheduling it for the afternoon, they showed up in the AM (when initially I wasn't planning to be home, but by dumb random luck I was). They often show up at the wrong time, or as I discovered today, wrong month. We bought the home plan, which is *supposed* to give us priority scheduling and an annual systems checkup, but getting that checkup apparently will take 2 months to get an appointment. We were told we had one yesterday (no one showed) and when I called they said it's *JULY* 14th. It's definitely not worth the $50+ per month.  I'm giving them two stars because the techs are great; very knowledgeable and reasonable - just too many hoops and delay in getting to one. read more

I have a service plan for HVAC. Woke up to no heat! When I called I was told they had no appointments available for today. How is this possible? Why do I pay monthly for a service I can't use when in need? This is the second time I called for repair service and did not receive the service I need. During the summer my AC stopped working and when the technician arrive I was told they couldn't service my unit due to its location under the deck. Granted, I understand the location of the unit was not ideal ( former owner placed here) but why did they allow me to purchase a plan that they would not honor? To make matters worse, the technician left without discussing/reviewing options. He didn't even try to sell me a new unit or refer me to the sales department. I had to call a competing company to buy/install a new AC unit. I will definitely be looking for an alternative service plan immediately. read more

Constellation Home, formerly BGE Home --- worse experience ever. Pay good money each month to cover all appliances. Had an emergency leak from my refrigerator that caused a flood from kitchen to basement. Constant water. Did not know how to stop it myself. Called for service, tried to schedule me out TWO WEEKS, then corrected for the next day. I pleaded to the rep, explaining this was an emergency. Said they'd put me on "wait list". This was 3pm, signed up for text notifications, I heard NOTHING. Literally left hanging. Got a friend to eventually come over to stop the water (they were working and came in the evening). By then, wood saturated, items ruined in basement. Had to buy a dehumidifier, etc. etc. I had to call MULTIPLE times to try to get help, try to get some indication that someone was coming! I never got a single text notification until over 27 HOURS AFTER my first call for help. Constellation Home's business model SUCKS; when they tell a person they have an appointment, they say it could be anywhere from opening of business to close...which can be, according to the rep, 9 or 10 o'clock at night! Absolutely incompetent and idiotic. By the way, when the plumber arrived 28 HOURS LATER, he assessed the issue to be a pin hole in the line to the ice maker. And guess what?...our insurance/coverage does not cover the ice maker line. Hahaaa..... OF COURSE IT DOESN'T. But, because we have paid through the nose (for years) for this "coverage," they gave us 15% off. So, to replace the compressor and gent another tube line in (in copper, for "liability reasons," according to the plumber), it came out to a whopping $385.50! WITH THE DISCOUNT. I will be re-evaluating my need for this rip-off scam of "protection and coverage." I need to FIRE Constellation Home and hire someone else for my appliance needs. I have had the chance to do business with this company when i became a home owner,I bought house and didnt know history of my water heater so i decided to try BGE Homes bought hot water heater used their services,later I also utilized their other side of business and had a new exterior door installed. Had problem with door and cont to have problems with how door was installed ,this came with a lifetime warranty again they fail to honor their warranty found out they sell door and and outside installer group of Hispanics do install hard to communicate with so i just basically live with making decision to live with mistake of choice I made.Usually I dont write reviews but my water heater developed a problem I called and set up a repair date.A day later I received a call from billing that I had an outstanding balance and appt would be cancelled,Again keep in mind i spent over 2,000 dollars on water heater and another 4000.00 on door through this company not one mention of a balance being owed and all financing was done with this company which required a credit check on both.Prior to doing business of this dollar amount being spent,I had a Service Plan had it for 1 yr.Called told them i didnt want to renew Service Plan they refused to cancel and kept billing,amount is not valid.I recently had a new hvac heating system installed.It is better to go with a local reputable company that will respond than this one that don't correct problems and don't respond.Save yourself future Headaches. read more

I am reviewing the BGEHOME Home Service Plan. My customer experience with this services has been horrible and I would give 0 stars if I could. First, I tried to call for services a few times and they would always have appointment two weeks away. Normally, when you call for these services, you need them right away. So I had to end calling a service and paying anyway. I have been trying to cancel the service for months. Every time I call, they place me on hold for hours. I end up hanging up. I tried the website, but there is no way to cancel on their page. They do have the ability to pay, but not to cancel. Finally, today I tried to cancel via the website chat, just to find out they instructed me to call to cancel. This is extremely frustrating. They continue to bill me and there is no way I can cancel. I've been with BGE home for the last year and a half, and I'm still trying to figure out the benefit of their service plans. In the last year we've scheduled services using their website tool and both times the wait was over 90 plus days. We scheduled a Summer Service (AC) the guy showed up in the Fall. We scheduled a Winter Service (Heat) the guy showed up in the Spring... And even with the monthly fee there was still a charge for the minor work performed. I agree with the previous commentors, their website is usless. Subpar. The only thing you can do on the website is pay and update your personal information. You also have to log back in every time you choose a link at the top or bottom of the page. It's rediculous - It's 2023 and their website seems like it was buily for AOL. I don't see any details about my service plan. For two hours I've been reading their site and looking for the cancelation button and monthly charge. It's not there. If it is it's not noticable. And what makes this worse is that it appears they've some how doubled the amount they're charging me monthly from $42.80 to $85.60. Hmmm... I did not agree to that and I haven't received anything notifying me of a rate increase. Again, I'm trying to figure out the benefit of BGE Home ... I would say Buyer Beware. The original sales guy (service rep) was a good guy. He was very knowlagable; very good guy, and had to come to my house once to correct some mistakes another rep made. Waited all morning, and the tech called, I missed the phone call and called back and was told I had to reschedule my appointment because I missed a phone call so the tech cancelled the appointment immediately. My furnace would not maintain the heat set by our Ecobee thermostat. My technician (Chris) assessed the problem & determined that the furnace needed a part replacement. About 10 years ago we had 2 heat pump systems replaced by then BGE. They did a great job. We took out a service contract that we cancelled in 2019 that we cancelled in 2020. We recently scheduled a service appointment with now Constellation Homes. I took off work on this day but they never showed. I called to inquire I was told that they will NOT be coming out as I was in 'collections'. Every time I tried to contact their billing department, I was "disconnected" or could not get anyone to respond. It took a complaint to the BBB to get them to contact us. Turns out that there were NO collections and they were trying to recoup money from my cancelled contract. They now offered to come out but I declined. They are dishonest in their billing, lack any customer service and they cost me an entire day of lost wages. And my heat pumps still have not been serviced. read more

The beginning of the end: Had to have 3 HVAC service calls for an issue (gurgling noise when unit is on) that started after a yearly inspection. The first two technicians were friendly yet ineffective and the last one was patronizing. Issue never resolved until a year later...it has finally stopped on its own (or is going to break any minute). My mother paid years to have their maintenance plan thinking they were affiliated Baltimore Gas and Electric Company... They are not! When I had to start dealing with them, I noticed each tech told me something different in regards to maintenance issues. If I could give negative stars I would. I have 3 different home warranty policies with this company. HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical. I can not seem to get someone on the phone for assistance when I call the number listed. 888-243-4663 to schedule a home service that would fall under the preview of my 3 policies. This most recent time I called 2/5/2024 was for a plumbing issue. Which anyone who has ever had a plumbing issues knows usually they are serious and typically need immediate assistance. But not at Constellation Home, no with Constellation Home I held for 30 minutes. I had even gone as far as to call from my landline and cell phone simultaneously in sheer desperation of hoping someone will answer the phone. Same result both lines holding in excess of 30 minutes or more before is absolute exasperation I hang up. I eventually got someone, after repeated call attempts where each time I held for 30 mins or more. I got scheduled for two weeks out ! : 0 WHAT ?! I tried explaining this is an emergency, but it was the best they could do, at this point as a customer I am OVER IT . It took me everything I had not to lash out at the customer service rep. Between the lack of staffing to answer the phone queue and appointment availability being address so lackadaisical, I fail to see the point of my monthly premium for these policies.
