Mom had been in her home for 45 years, and it was finally time to get her to a place with convenient services, companionship, and transportation. She still has her own home business which made moving her an even harder sell. I wanted to move her to the state I live in, but this place offered way more than I could find her at other retirement homes in Texas or elsewhere! Marjorie (sales) and Michael (director) are the kindest people I have ever met. The place is first class. My mom was super stressed on lease signing day (she was very worried I wouldn't get her settled properly before I had to fly home) and Michael brought her tea, gave us all the time in the world, and even summarized the lease for her page by page so she could understand all the details with no surprises. They even provided a gorgeous, BIG lunch plater and a plethora of drinks and snacks for us and our movers on move-in day. Everything my mom requested (from extra shower bars to a ceiling fan to help with her dryer hook up etc.) was done in a snap. The dinning staff are overly kind, the food is good with plenty of options, to-go containers are readily available, and I was impressed that they offered canned sodas (most places only had tea or lemonade in the dinning room). My mom liked that there are tablecloths. The transportation options were really robust with certain days reserved for special request trips to supplement their regular route, plus certain days for Drs. Activities were plentiful and engaging. Most places I toured primarily had cards and bible study, but this place offered so much more. While I was in town they had activities like chocolate night, flower arranging with real flowers, specially cocktail tasting, happy hour 3x a week, musical performances, and much more. The outings to restaurants and shows were a regular occurrence. The building is cheerful and has lots of natural light. The courtyard with pool/hot tub and screened terrace is lovely. Balconies in the units are a big plus. I couldn't find anyone that didn't like the place after living there for a week while I did the move. Her unit is very spacious with three closets. We fit all her big furniture. One last package arrived as I was leaving town that needed assembly, and maintenance was busy. The director was kind enough to assemble it for my mom same day! I really can't say enough good things. I already have friends planning to schedule a visit to check the place out for their parents. Big thank you to the staff! read more

My mom has been a resident at Conservatory of Plano for 5 years. While she doesn't take advantage of all the fun activities they have, she does enjoy living here. The food leaves a lot to be desired lately but the staff from the back office, front desk, dining service personnel and on site home health care and rehab services are excellent. We have used those from time to time. There is also a couple of on site doctors that come weekly which really helps. They also provide transportation to activities, stores and doctor appointments. read more

I come here weekly, several times per week. So I have good visibility into the front desk staff throughout the course of the week. They are consistently disinterested with visitors who arrive, are not wearing masks yet the sign on the door says masks are required, and want to screen you and take your temperature while unmasked. Honestly if I wanted to get Covid I would probably come here because the front desk staff come across like MAGA cavaliers who think this pandemic business is just a hassle. But wait, don't forget that people coming to ask them questions or trying to check in are also a hassle. As a matter of fact, you probably shouldn't even come here at all because the front desk don't want you here and you're just going to annoy them. read more

I'm not sure how this place compares to others since I only lived there for 5 months then moved back into a house. The firm changed hands about the time I went there so my references were out of date. The food, which was originally good, became nearly inedible--pretty bad. They refused to make any consideration for those who needed diabetes friendly menus. We were forced to eat the same two or three meals at all times. The maintenence was terrible. I was left with a stuck door for a week that I reported several times. The maids were awful--worse than hotel maids. The staff was great except for maintenence. Although these places say they are for 55 and up, the majority of people were in their 80's and 90's. Sweet folks but I found myself tending to them. I cannot recommend. there is no excuse for that kind of food service. read more

Really like this place. My mother looked for several months and found this to be a very upscale looking apartment complex. The staff is friendly, the food is wonderful and the location is great. It is listed as "independent living" but there are many residents who require assistance. I guess this is the natural transition of things, but my mom sometimes feels like she should be in a truly "independent" complex. However, she has made friends, plays bridge and enjoys walking her dog around the property. I think a person finds like minded individuals if they look hard enough, and can make friends with people in the same physical condition as they are. The apartments are full at this time so we are glad she got in when she did. The staff is also great about helping her find a doctor, nurse, hang pictures and light fixtures, and make repairs. It is hard to put into words what I feel about The Conservatory - Plano. I am in the business of introducing clients to senior living facilities with my company, Home Transitions. But when my mom decided to move out from San Diego to live near me in Plano, TX, I went on a 20 - facility look-see in Collin County. I whittled down the list to the top 6 and had my mom out for a week of her own review and decision. What she did not know was I had put a deposit down on an apartment at The Conservatory. It ended up, it was her decision too! Just moving from a daily view of the Pacific Ocean; country club life with 28 years of friends is transition enough! But add parting with most of your belongings and the impression that you are losing your independence, accepting the fact that you no longer can do for yourself. The Conservatory - Plano is like a summer breeze. It slowly envelops you with its beautiful surroundings but most importantly, the friendly, family support that lightly hugs and understands! You slowly loose the loss of the Pacific. You look forward to amazing meals in their dining room offering daily menus, personal service and maître/dining supervisors Pedro and John (who know your name Day 1); seat you with those they think you might enjoy meeting. It is a GREAT centerpiece to the facility and HUGE cornerstone to feeling you belong. From the start, the long-terms spoke about the friendly staff. It is why they are long-term and still enjoying the life! But two stand outs are Tobie and Kellie. Tobie was our first touch to The Conservatory! As the Admission Director, she helped us lock in a place (twice), supported little coordination issues with the move but... has the most generous and warm heart. She becomes your best friend as if you are the only one in the place! And Kellie is the ever-present Executive Director. She is relatively new herself yet knows everyone's name, family, concerns and, I understand, has single-handedly made The Conservatory's offer to the residents dramatically improved - noted by a full house! With a lot of words, I still have not keyed into what The Conservatory has done for my mom (and me) in her transition from the home she loved to a beautiful new lifestyle where she feels she belongs and can flourish. Beautiful place and needs higher standards for on-site management. The food is less than desirable, it is the cheapest quality available and heated up and placed on a plate. It has been a mission of management to reduce cost and increase population. What does that mean for residents? Cheap, cheap and cheaper!!!! Residents are allowed one meal per day and may not take a piece of fruit or anything else from the FREE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. So the old people can't have any more bananas for later. Now, they are welcome to a few slices, but don't walk away with any. The watchful eyes should be on safety and improvements and not watching the bananas! I bet they spend ten dollars protecting two dollars of bananas. Management has a good heart, but supervise residents as if they are three years old. If an old person attempts to take food from the Sunday buffet, they will be stop at the doorway. The rule is clear, "you may not take food from the Sunday Brunch Buffet." I wonder if they toss the leftovers in the trash or send it home with the staff. New rule, a resident may request a sandwich to go for $4.00, which will be handed to them as they leave. They may even invite a guest for a small charge of $22.00 per person. Don't be fooled by the "Chef-prepared meals", the Chef is someone who orders frozen prepared food under close supervision of Management that would be better suited for trailer parks. Dinning room staff are allow to eat and use their personal cell phones in the wonderful dinning room, while residents wait to be served. The kitchen staff turns their music up very high, while residents are trying to dine. That is notice to the residents it's time to leave. Resemble children rushing out at the sound of the bell. Management is always on time for lunch and easy to find in the dinning room. Just look for the empty table with one person happily eating, while residents wait at the doorway to be seated. You might even see a guy called "chef" if you arrive early, but don't look for him in the kitchen. He is not a cook!!! Another one of my favorites, "Lush Exterior Grounds" plants are removed and tossed over the back fence and never replaced. Lots of bare space available for plants and flowers. That resort-style heated pool is closed. Population has increased with residents that need supervision and walkers; as it has decreased with active young-minded thinkers. It's a great place for those people that can no longer cook for themselves and have a lot of money. Trust me it's not cheap!!! read more
