We visited dozens of sites on the internet, and drove to six places in the north Dallas area. The one place that jumped out to us was Parkview in Frisco. We have never been sorry that we chose this as our home. It is a an attractive facility, and the landscaping is beautiful. Parkview has several different floor plans and apartment sizes, but we chose a two bedroom, two bath apartment that meets our needs perfectly. It has a modern kitchen, large living/dining room and a comfortable balcony with a view. All utility expenses (except TV and phone) are included. Our maintenance needs are also included and fixed rapidly just by a phone call. But it is the friendly residents and serving staff that puts Parkview ahead of other retirement complexes. Smiles and hello's greet you in the hallways and warm conversations are the norm in the dining room. And by the way, the food and service iin our Embers Restaurant is first class, with a wide variety of selections and all prepared and served well. We love to take cruise vacations, and our life "aboard" Parkview is very much like that on a premium cruise ship: daily activities, entertainment, dining, etc. So if you are looking for a retirement place, you should come by Parkview in Frisco. I've noticed that there's ALWAYS a happy buzz in the restaurant - which to me says a lot about how much people enjoy themselves and I've NEVER seen that so consistently at any of the other many many communities that I've been to - and the food is GREAT! Parkview actually have the ONLY restaurant that I've been to in the US where I can get a salmon cooked and served as it should be - and I'm from northern Sweden so I definitely know my salmon! :-D ...and the grilled chicken salad with the Chef's homemade dressing - O M G it's so fingerlickin' gooooood I wished they sold it bottled!! The last time I visited, I got the chance to see their new Assisted Living and Memory Care next door and...WOW!! That is the most astonishing AL/MC that I've EVER seen - on any side of the Atlantic ocean! It seriously looks like a serene SPA with a Texas-twist - it's sooooo beautiful in every little detail and it's amazingly well thought through to help the residents thrive. The best people at Watermere are the sales people. They know how to sell the product well. But,…read moreonce you move in, you find out that a lot of it is window dressing. The apartments are nice, but the maintenance is lacking. Once you get there, you find out that most of the residents do not eat at Watermere. They go to the restaurants surrounding it. One of the reasons my father wanted to go to an independent living place was because he was tired of eating alone, so he found this disappointing. But, once you eat the food, you understand why most residents don't eat there. It is terrible, and they charge the residents high cost for the subpar food. They recently went to a flat fee for the meal. They often run out of something, but you are charged for the item in the large fee even though they ran out of something. I think the manager should be forced to eat it every day, maybe it would improve. There also seems to be turnover in upper management. They seem like they want to fix the issues but their hands are tied. This place has such potential but it just seems poorly managed. It's not cheap, so where is all of the money going?

I found The Heritage while searching for a new memory care community for my father, who was living with dementia and Parkinson's. I had made the difficult decision to move him from his previous facility because I no longer felt confident that he was receiving the level of care and attention he deserved. Anyone who has had to make this decision for a parent knows how emotional and overwhelming it can be. You are placing someone you love in the hands of others and trusting them with their safety, dignity, and quality of life. From the moment I visited The Heritage at Twin Creeks, I felt a difference. I was incredibly impressed by the cleanliness and appearance of the community, but even more important was what I saw in the residents and staff. The residents appeared happy, comfortable, engaged, and genuinely cared for. Watching the way the staff interacted with them gave me a sense of comfort that I had been desperately looking for. Matt Gerleman, the Executive Director, along with William, the Sales Director, April, the Memory Care Director, and Deborah, the Wellness Director, made an especially strong impression on me. Their communication, compassion, professionalism, and willingness to answer my questions helped give me confidence that my father would be in good hands. I never felt as though I was simply being "sold" a room. I felt that they understood what our family was going through and understood the enormous responsibility that comes with caring for someone with memory loss. Sadly, my father passed away before I was able to move him into The Heritage. I truly wish we had found this community sooner. Although he never had the opportunity to live there, I walked away believing that this was a place where he could have been safe, cared for, and treated with dignity. When you are searching for memory care for someone you love, beautiful surroundings are important, but what matters most is the people who will be there when you are not. Based on everything I experienced and witnessed at The Heritage at Twin Oaks, I would absolutely recommend this community to families looking for a place where they can feel confident that their loved one will be treated with compassion, respect, and genuine care. Our family ultimately reached a point where we no longer trusted The Heritage to catch serious…read moreproblems unless we found them first. That conclusion came after more than a year of repeated problems, follow-ups, corrections and escalation to management and regional leadership. Our experience consistently came back to four areas: communication, training, accountability and consistency. We dealt with medication-order discrepancies, missing or inconsistent blood-pressure documentation, care-plan concerns, poor communication between shifts and situations where responsibility seemed to move from one person or department to another. We also witnessed friction between caregivers that added to our concerns about communication and teamwork. We documented problems, met with management and eventually escalated our concerns to regional leadership. Some issues were corrected after we identified them. Yet problems continued. There are employees at Heritage who genuinely cared about my mother. Our criticism is directed at the failure of the systems surrounding them. Families should not have to audit records, verify orders, chase answers and check whether previously reported problems stayed fixed. After more than a year, we no longer trusted the admin or its systems to catch problems before we did.

I'm so grateful I found A Friends Place Adult Day Services for my mother who has Dementia that…read morelives with me. The staff is so caring. She has been attending for over 2 years. She comes home each day so happy and more alert because of the socializing and fun activities they do during the day. I can't say enough praise about the service they provide. They even started providing transportation to help get her to the facility. This was a huge help since COVID changes disrupt our family schedule constantly. I can count on the staff and facility to provide the activities and attention we are not always able to provide her due to work or school schedules. The staff and facility are such blessing to our family and community.
