I had a lot of fun playing mini-golf here! i landed here just by chance because I was in AMC 30 to catch a movie and changed my mind and wanted something more out-doorsy because the day was beautiful! Very nice course nicely laid out and good staff! =) The one little complaint people could have is that it's kinda small -- it's literally 18+18 holes just on one little hill! read more

Love coming here to mini golf. It's like a good 1-2 hours to kill if you and your friends have nothing to do. You are never too old for mini golfing! I think it was $8 or $10 to play. The course has some easy holes and some difficult ones as well. If you have a large group, it sometimes takes a while to golf and people behind you will have to wait. But that's usually no problem because everyone plays at their own pace. Try not to get the ball in the water though. I'm sure they don't clean the water! read more

After driving by nearly a hundred times since we moved to the area we finally stopped to play a round last weekend. I'm glad we finally did and will likely come back again in the future! A really fun place to take your family, friends or date. You have the option of playing two different courses - Congo Rapids or Congo Falls - or both if you have the time and stamina. We tried out the Rapids course because it was considered more stroller friendly than the Falls. The price of admission is split into two groups, adults and children under 12. The cost seemed a bit high to me at first ($8.95/18 holes) but the course is nicely maintained and diverse in challenging holes. The greens are clear of debris and all bridges, holes, and props add to the game experience. Fun 80's and 90's tunes play throughout which adds to the overall atmosphere. There's also a scavenger hunt laid out across the courses with hidden artifacts (some better than others) and a reward to collect if you find them all. It's a little something extra that can help keep younger players busy while waiting for larger/slower groups to finish play. read more

Congo River Miniature Golf - Mini Golf Near Me - Hoffman Estates, Illinois

Such a fun course! Had the best time with family here. Did the entire 18 holes and my nephew and I both got hole in ones. Had fun, friendly competition with the family and created lasting memories. Tyler Montgomery was extremly helpful, friendly and informative. Will be back and hopefully I can have the high score of the day. read more

I've never been mini golfing before so this was a fun first time mini golfing! I liked the Congo River expedition theme with the cool waterfall to look at. You can pick between a 36 hole or 18 hole course. We chose the 18 holes for $9.75 each. This was a reasonable price and it took an hour to finish the whole course. The course was fun and good for all ages. It was challenging since it wasn't just a straight surface. There were curves and different levels of surfaces to make the mini golfing challenging. I went here on a Saturday so it was busy and we had to wait for the groups of people to finish before it was our turn. Overall, I had a great time and it was fun being competitive playing with my boyfriend. I only lost to him by a few points but I'll probably come back here for the 36 holes to beat him! read more

I had mini golf on my summer bucket list and I am so glad I chose this place to check it off my list. My husband and I arrived around 8:45pm on a Friday night and I would say all 36 holes were occupied with a group. It made it a little slower to play but we were happy to see so many teenagers out on dates and double dates - so cute! I think it took about an hour to play. We ended up playing the Falls 18-hole course and we had so much fun. The course is challenging enough without being discouraging. By far my favorite hole was the one where you could let your golf ball travel through the stream. I am sure we will be back to play the other 18-hole course. read more

Idiots. Put a mask on to hand me a ball and then we can remove the mask? So stupid. It's all 100% outdoors. Spend your money elsewhere

As much as I enjoy living in the Hoffman/Schaumburg area, It does have it's drawbacks when you are dating a new girl and are in need of activities for your lady fair. You have your typical fall backs like dinner out, movies, Netflix on the couch, etc. but those options tend to grow superfluous rapidly. Being the creative guy I like to think I am, I turned to the not so obvious like cooking a surprise dinner at my place (and yes, for a dude, I can cook), doing the picnic at the park (it rained, consequently), or quoting a Shakespearian sonnet from memory (kidding). I pass this place almost daily, so it's odd that I never thought of it before. Maybe I considered it too juvenile perhaps? Over the holiday weekend I decided why the hell not? It turned out to be a great deal of fun for the both of us, and it brought about a level of competitiveness in both of us that was, ummm, interesting. The facility itself is quite beautiful. Cheesy of course, but hey, it is a mini-golf facility after all. The staff I interacted with was very friendly and inviting and explained our progression in fine detail. It has probably been since high school since I played mini-golf, and unlike most of my co-workers, I would sooner take an elective root canal than don a ridiculous polo shirt and play actual golf. On the first several holes of the course, I was basically just screwing around. Essentially I was acting like a prepubescent child by cracking jokes, hitting with one hand Caddy Shack style, etc. However, what became apparent after about 10 holes in to this 36 hole epic is that the (sorta) GF was meticulously keeping score and was growing more and more poised and focused with each passing hole. In short, I was getting farther and farther behind. This I started to not so subconsciously take as an attack on my manhood! The remaining half of the course was taken on in relative silence, interrupted only briefly by my outbursts of profanity. By the time it was all said and done, the woman had beaten me soundly. I hung my head in defeat like a skunked little leaguer. I was half expecting there to be some lingering weirdness when we got back to my apartment to order some takeout for dinner. Instead, she attacked me like she had just shallowed two fistfuls of viagra and washed it down with vodka. Thus far, that has NOT been common behavior for her in the slightest. So, umm, yeah, I'll be back. read more

A little dated and a tad worn. For some reason, the waterfall and streams have a very bad odor. There are two courses, each 18 holes. You can do one or both. It has a very small parking lot that is kind of narrow. The teens working there were friendly and helpful. One of the three vending machines didn't work. There is a small arcade- the kids liked the football table and the claw machine but the air hockey tables did not work. Its was an ok mini golf course. Just average in my opinion. read more

I won, I won, I won!!! For the born competitor in you, or simply the favorite Aunt taking her favorite niece out for a girls-day, we had a lot of fun. Not only will you be challenged, you will also be eaten alive. This 3 story putt putt spot has been here for awhile and provides golfers (and I use that term very loosely) two 18-hole options; one slightly more challenging than the other. Per person: about 12 dollars each It takes you awhile to chart the course, no matter what color coordinated ball is used to match your wardrobe; basically because you may be sandwiched between a foursome who is taking everything way too seriously versus a large family of 12. Congo River is on a massive main drag giving passers by the opportunity at a glimpse of a myriad of short games, as well as those vehicles getting beaned from a putt gone awry. No worries, the over the top lighting system puts everyone on full display. Be warned: if you loft your ball into a parking lot, it's gonna cost you 50 cents. The staff is friendly and reasonable but bug spray is not included. This place has not changed much over the years, but it is pretty well maintained, though the parking is kind of tight at peak times. It also conjures up some pretty decent family memories. Fun! But ... I won, I won, I won!!! read more

This was such a fun mini golf course! They have two different course options, so you have the option of doing one of those 16 hole courses or both for a total of 32. We decided to go for all 32 and it was a great decision! The holes are relatively simple, none have moving obstacles, but they did still have some interesting elements, like needed to use the river. This made for a really simple and enjoyable game, though I would have liked just a few more interesting holes. That and the price are my only complaints, but I'm sure I'll be back again! read more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! We will never go back again. From the expensive cost of 18 holes that are just basic and only have a waterfall to look pretty for, to the 50 cents if you lose a ball (which we've never seen out of many other mini golf places in the suburbs), this place was a complete jip. The girl at the front desk was seemingly friendly (aside from when she was on her phone). We got through all the holes in about an hour which was unusually quick...but probably due to the poor course. We took our ten-year-old nephew to celebrate his birthday, and by hole 15 his golf club broke. I looked at it, and honestly, for any kid that would use a golf club, he probably used it just the same. The handle area split, but not in a way that looked like it was destroyed by a little boy. He said it was loose and then all of a sudden it just broke. Instead of just leaving it at the desk and going our way, we tried to be kind and up front until the girl at the desk told us it would be $15. My husband tried to talk to the manager who basically told us "We gave it to you in one piece, and now it's not, so...". UGH! What happened to appeasing the customer? What happens when other kids do the same? Do they leave with other angry adults? That club has been used hundreds of times, it was just normal wear and tear and it can't be our fault. We will never be back, and we made it clear, but the manager there didn't seem to care. DON'T GO HERE! There are amazing mini golf places in Vernon Hills, Skokie, Des Plaines...just don't waste your time here and get your money's worth elsewhere. read more

This place was fun!! You have the option of 18 or 36 holes of mini golf. They have 2 separate courses depending on 18 vs. 36 holes. Don't forget to check them out online...there's a $1.00 coupon that you can use for up to 5 people. read more

I have been visiting Congo River since I was a kid, this used to be our treat for good grades from my parents for my brother and I when we were young... And now it's just a treat for me when I don't get yelled at while at work :-) The courses are fun and challenging, but not too much of a challenge for kids. You have 3 different options for what you want to play at Congo River, 1 course, the other or BOTH. Price-wise I don't have much to compare it too since there really aren't a ton of mini-golf places around, but it seems a little expensive to me. Regardless I still enjoy myself every time the mood strike for some mini-golf. read more

One of the best mini-golf places I've ever played. This place has 2 18-hole mini-golf courses which are challenging but fun. I will say that this place is fairly expensive, but its worth the price of admission. One tip: if you want to save money, try going here right after they open for the season as prices during spring are a bit cheaper. read more

This is a beautifully landscaped facility. It is an ideal location for the inexperienced golfer. There are two courses to choose from; both are easy. There is no need to worry about anyone becoming discouraged and losing interest. We didn't bother keeping score and had a 5 swing limit to avoid causing delay to the people behind us. I can't say the same for the people ahead of us. Regardless, we had a great time! read more

This place looks great from the street. Waterfalls and rivers with safari decorations makes for impressive curb appeal. However, the actual greens are very plain and not very challenging. It seems most of the money and creativity was used on decorations and the artificial mountain instead of a fun course. Most holes are par 2 and have little more than a bend to justify the par 2. No moving contraptions requiring timing or hazards. I grew up just down the street from Bunny Hutch in Lincolnwood which has all sorts of crazy contraptions so I was disappointed by the lack of a fun course at Congo. It is great for kids though since it is a challenge for most yet stays easy enough to be rewarding. Every kid I saw had ear to ear smiles. Great for a date as well since you won't have to concentrate so much on the game and instead focus on the date. Not the best but close to home and a neat place to visit once in a while. read more

By far the best Miniature Gold course I have ever played! Not only does this place have TWO 18-hole courses, they are challenging, well thought out, and placed upon some very well kept greens. The facility itself is definitely 'above par' (pun intended), while the cost is reasonable, staff polite, and there is video game arcade at the end if 32 holes of golf just wasn't enough. read more

Cool place! We came with two groups of adults after a luncheon together and had a great time. It's fun just to walk around with the waterfalls and so on and makes for a great opportunity to converse while enjoying an activity together. I absolutely love this place! It does tend to get crowded cause it is soo appealing from Barrington Road and it is such a cute course. But don't worry, if it is busy you might have to wait a while to put, but it is worth it cause the scenery is just pleasant, you don't get hot cause there is a slight breeze, and it is just downright fun. Good place to bring kids... good place to have a date... and it is pretty reasonable for a great mini-golf course. read more

Easy to get to location, two courses to choose from: one star Interesting layouts for each of the holes: two stars Smelly dyed blue water, holes spaced close together so that there's almost no place to wait if you have a slow group ahead of you: zero stars Also, fairly expensive for 18 and 36 holes. read more

Par for the course on mini-golf places. Just kidding, it's actually better than most with the layout. Most places have a completely boring and flat layout. It shames to me to use the this review as an excuse for a pun... read more

This place was pretty neat. There are two courses. We chose to go on the rapids course which takes you around the outside and up the mountain. The waterfall course is the easier course and takes you around the waterfall. Wear a tank top and shorts on a hot day. Very possible to quickly tan here if the sun is at a perfect angle. The course is easy. They also said they would charge 50 cents for a lost ball. My ball got lost on the third hole and they did give me a new one for free. We had a good time but make sure you stay hydrated. Good restaurants are near by if you want a decent meal before or after. read more

it's was a nice area to be with your friend and golf. Although there were construction during the time i came, and i missed one hole. It was real fun and easy. The mini golfing is nice with the water scenic view and although it didn't have cool gadgets. The hills and the way it was build brings the same amount of challenge as objects blocking your way. read more

After getting hooked back on Mini Golf several years ago, I've been looking for different places to go in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. Being from McHenry, Congo River is about an hour drive each way for myself and my friends, but having 36 holes and great theming, it's well worth the trip. Staff is friendly and prices are fair, especially if you pay ahead of time to play both courses that day. Theming is outstanding, best I've seen for a mini golf course in the Chicago area. The only reason I'm giving it four stars (as of now) is because the last few times I went there during the 2013 season, the waterfalls had some form of algae growing all over them and it didn't smell too nice. Luckily it only effected us on a few holes. read more

Very pretty putt-putt course with two 18-hole courses. It made for a wonderful and relaxing family outing while visiting Chicago. My son in particular, who LOVES miniature golf, had a blast. There is also a fun mini arcade with air hockey, another family favorite. I also thought the cost was reasonable. Highly recommend. read more

This place is cheesy but what do you expect from a miniature golf place? My husband and I had fun trash talking each other while we played. There are 2 courses here. You can choose to play 18 or 36 holes. We opted for 18 this time. I enjoyed the course. It is actually designed well and not boring. There's one other place nearby where you can see every single hole and that's lame. This place was fun and entertaining. We will be back, especially since I lost and need to redeem myself. read more

My niece and nephew loved it. The staff was so friendly and welcoming to both of them (six and ten years old) as well as myself. We had a nice night out. It would be cool if they could get an ice cream truck or food truck to stop by on the weekends. Can't wait to go back!! read more

They play the exact same music every single day. Every day. Rockin Robin, Everybody's Working For the Weekend, Africa, Sledgehammer, multiple Nat King Cole songs, several terrible disco songs, several terrible jazz songs, and there aren't enough songs to last the day so it will loop after about 4 hours. None of the music is from after 1995, and even the good songs get very old verrrry quickly. I work across the street at the Poplar Creek golf course and I've had golfers complain about how terrible the music. Would it really be so difficult to just play any radio station? You spent all that money on the sound system, why not play music people want to listen to? I'm begging you, please fix this. read more

An absolutely beautiful course. Only downside is that it's too simple with not too many "obstacles" or difficult holes. You get done in like 30-40 min so you can't really enjoy yourself. And the course is designed for you to lose balls so you may end up paying 50 cents per lost ball but the first lost ball is free ! Great time overall ! read more

Wow. Lot of fun, first time - playing mini golf and it was great. Group of 4 and we played for about 2 hours, only 18 holes but. They provide all the equipment - putt and ball. Beautiful and creative little course we have here. With the lack of miniature putt putt courses in the NW suburbs I'm going to go ahead and give 5 stars because this far this is my favorite course yet here in Chicago. I believe I paid 19$ roughly for my fiancé and I and you have the option to play 36 as well. read more

Congo River Miniature Golf - Not a bad view eh? - Mini Golf Near Me - Hoffman Estates, Illinois

Fun, scenic, hilly, well designed and crowded. Only Par King is more fun.

This is my favorite. End of story. I love the setup. I love the location. I love the theme. I think it's over-priced, but for how nice I think the whole park is, it might have to be. You can do the Congo River course (18 holes), or the Congo Mountain (also 18 holes), and every single hole is just as fun as the one before. Creative, outdoors, spacious, and elevated are just some of the reasons why this is hands down my favorite mini-put place. read more

A quite excellent take on the miniature golfing experience. Had a fun time with my three best buddies taking on the 36-hole course that Congo has to offer. This miniature golf location is perfect. Right by McDonald's if you're betting with your friends. Loser ends up buying everyone ice cones! Well that's what we did. I enjoyed playing here. At first, I was worried that we wouldn't be able to play the course because there were many people. But we completed the 36 holes and loved it. Remember to capture your friend putting, you'll end up getting the most bizarre and hilarious clips. You just never know. read more
