Yelp Review 2026 #99: This is a bigger location in Luzern. It's about a 5-8 minute walk from Luzern Bahnhof and I highly recommend coming here instead of the Bahnhof location. They have way more stuff here and they also carry other brands of chocolates. Not to mention the chocolate wall they're famous for. They have chocolates, ice cream, pastries, sandwiches and savory food. The chocolate wall is fun to watch for a few seconds and you're back to shopping for chocolates. Since this is a big location, you would think they would have employees behind every section but they don't. O wanted to get truffles but there was nobody there. I waited for a minutes but nobody came. So, I moved on and grabbed a bar of chocolate instead and paid for it at the sandwich counter. The staff behind the counters are helpful and patient. The place can be packed at certain times of the day especually because it is at the center of town. What an amazing bakery and chocolatier! While there are a number of Bachmanns in the area this location is one of the bigger and busier stores with a cafe in the back that we visited. They have a larger variety of baked goods, sandwiches and other sweet goodies than the other stores. When you first walk in you feel overwhelmed as you don't know where to start or what direction to look! We picked up some chocolates and other Swiss goodies to try and to take home for family and friends. You definitely need to stop by here and check it out read more

The staff there is very helpful and will speak to you in English if need be. This shop is on a hot spot of within walking distance to all the stores and river bank of Lucerne. For such a famous chocolate chain, their pastries and chocolates are very mediocre with expensive price tags. I grabbed a few pastry items and chocolates boxes and they didn't even taste as good as any pastry items you can order from a Dunkin Donut store in the US. We were disappointed. read more

Highly Unprofessional and very Rude staff, avoid this store at all costs.. There was a middle aged lady named Agnes who responded in a loud howling manner "No" when simply asked if they carried certain type of chocolate. We were completely taken aback by such behavior. So much so that my 2 young boys were shocked and one of them started crying. We spoke to manager of the store who intervened and subsequently spoke to Agnes for over 15 minutes and Agnes was having some heated arguments with her. Finally, she came and very unwillingly apologized as if she was forced to do so, but she herself didn't realize any wrongdoing on her part. We returned all chocolates that we brought from the store right away and are going to boycott Bachmann store going forward, and encourage all our friends and families to do so as well. We hope by way of this review, the management team of this store takes action against this employee and trains their staff to exhibit proper courtesy towards customers who run their business. #boycottBachmann read more

Highlight of the store: the chocolate fountain Wall! Of course the largest chocolate fountain in the world is at Bellagio, Vegas, but this one is very cute and stylish! Another highlight: the chocolate moose and hot chocolate. I am not sure if it's just coincident or what, Swiss people like to make their food firm, I had the firmest tofu here, and this chocolate moose is a lot more firm and dense and thicker than the usual ones you would expect. But, it's surprisingly great in a different way! The hot chocolate is super thick and sweet as you can see that the milk is on the top, and you need to mix them up together. Sooooo good and satisfying! One star off for the service here. Workers are very numb to tourists, and they don't have the typical Swiss friendliness or at least Luzern's friendliness. Price wise, let's say, you can get it for half the price in the States, and this is confirmed by talking to another American couple I ran into. However, they do seem to have a lot more choices, I would buy some if I am going home after Luzern, which is not the case unfortunately. :p read more

Classic European sandwiches, an emporium of open face sandwiches with glaze that look unreal and taste phenomenal, and a slew of pastries, tarts, quiches, chocolates, breads, and macrarons. Let's be clear, my judgement was tainted when I visited Bachmann. I hadn't consumed anything but vodka truffles and had been stuck on a bus with 75 people and no air conditioning. I was nothing short of absolutely delirious. All the restaurants the tour guide took us to were Indian restaurants, and despite being Indian, I absolutely DESPISE Indian food. On the fourth day, we were booked to spend the night in Lucerne. My mom, worried that I may have gone overboard with the truffles, caved and bought me a panini. I often think of that first meal in four days, fondly remembering the beautiful tomatoes and stringy mozzarella. The air conditioning welcomed me delirious, drunk self with open arms. The panini, I recall, was a little greasy, which is why I shaved a star, however greasy food is exactly what my drunk self craved. I'm a fan of this bakery!! When you walk right through their doors, you'll be amazed by the glamor, glitz and pastries. It is so well lit that they showcase their delicious goodies beautifully! I got the ApfelKrapfen and my lil bro got a Berliner with Vanilla creme. Together it was about 5.10 Franc, which to me is pretty cheap/average. The ApfelKrapfen was so good, homg, i'd bring bck a box of these if i could. It's square like a sandwich and in between the two pastry layers are an apple compote - Not too sweet, apple-y, delicious, finger lickin' good! The crust was perfectly crusted with a nice sound to it when you bite into it. If you are looking for sweets, Bachmann is the place to go to, especially for yummy breakfast goods! Ps. They have tables and chairs outside if you're looking for a place to chill. Oh, and their wedding cakes look beautiful. read more

Our Hotel was located way too close too this place because it was too easy to wander over here whenever I felt one of my multiple cravings throughout the day for a snack come on. The problem was I'd go in for a couple of macarons but end up leaving with a 1/2 pound of pralines and some chocolate croissants. There's a wide variety of goodies to be had here and everything I tried was delicious. My favorites were the various tarts (I tried apricot and pear) and the croissants (marzipan and chocolate.) Unlike many of the pastries you get in the US, which could instantly throw you into a diabetic coma because they're so sweet, the pastries here weren't overly sweet, they were just sweet enough. Besides all the pastries, macarons, and chocolates, they also serve toasted sandwiches which looked delicious as well. Bachmann has so many choices of sweets that there is really something for everyone! Initially, I did not want to have any chain food, but I am glad that I did not give it a go here! You can find a lot of the locals also grabbing goodies from Bachmann so there is no regret here. The staff is super friendly in helping you find something that you really fall in love with. I am bummed out that I did not have gelato from here, being that this branch did not carry it, but I will on my next trip to Switzerland! I definitely fell in love with the chocolates here and really wish I brought more truffles home! Lucerne is the cutest city ever. I'm here now in Dec 2014. There is snow and it is beautiful. This is a great bakery. The macaroons in Europe are alot Tinier than the US but the same price. Why?? Darnnn money exchange maybe. Bachman carries lots of breads, croissant, pastries, and paninis. I got the curry chicken. It was so delicious!! The cheese in the sandwich was strong and yummy. The bread was super hot and toasted. Gotta love the Europeans for their love for Nutella aka hazelnut chocolate. I got the hazelnut croissant. Sooo yummmm!!! Like I said this city is expensive. We were strolling by the lakeside after a delicious lunch and found this bakery that offered ice cream. I opted for hazelnut flavor and it was the most delicious dessert I had, as well as a perfect addition to the lovely stroll in this nice weather whilst enjoying Lucerne. The scoops were generous so I decided to stick with 1 scoop in a cone. I'd recommend eating it fast, especially in sunny weather! read more

There's a separate price for eating-in as opposed to taking out but it's not like there's a waiter or anything. They literally just give you your pastry on a tray at the cash register and charge you one extra Franc. Unbelievable. It's like I'm being taxed for taking up space. Sorry God!
