I've been going to concept nails since I moved to the Lake Ridge Area. I was so fortunate when I found a salon across the street and especially when I met Cindy! Almost 4 years later and I'm finally getting around to making a review about this salon and the great people who work there, especially my favorite nail tech...Cindy. I hate to even mention her name because it will make it even harder for me to now get an appointment BUT when I tell you she is a total sweetheart and a perfectionist, I'm serious. Many times she's stayed well beyond closing hours to ensure my nails stay fly and I'm happy. For this, I'm grateful and love how she's always up for the challenges I present her with. I used to go to concept nails prior to Covid, but I recently decided to give them another chance because it's close to my house. I HAD fairly long nails with dipping powder. I went in last weekend to get a mani pedi. The lady started off by sanding down the top coat, then she kept going all the way down to my nail bed I kept telling her it was hot and the other nail techs around kept looking with concern but never said anything. Normally they just sand the top coat off so they can soak it, but she was being careless and halfway through realized they were my real nails, the other technicians kept saying wow your nails are so long and beautiful, but I guess she didn't care or wasn't paying attention, she ended up sanding off the tip to my middle finger. At this point I'm pissed because it's clear she's sanded the top of my nail bed. She then told me to put my fingers in a hot ass bowl with barley any remover in it but overflowing with so much hot water in the bottom bowl the owner had to come over and empty some out, she kept telling me to rub my nails on the cotton ball, but my nails felt so fragile after all her sanding I was was very reluctant to manipulate them too much. Oh I forgot to mention I asked her point blank is she was sanding my nails and she kept saying no. My nails were so fragile I asked to to just cut them halfway down, I knew they stood no chance. During my pedicure she was in such a rush she forgot the scrub (I picked a pedicure that included this) she did a terrible massage with wet watery lotion it was like getting a massage with milk. I also had gel on my toes she did not soak it off she just sanded the paint totally off and now my toenails are brittle as hell. During my pedicure she put a warm towel on my feet but then laid it on my legs and just left it there to be a cold wet rag. The worst pedicure of my life! Anyway, so back to my nails, I got dipping powder again I ask for them to be square because they were so short now, this woman could not file a square to save her life which I guess is why she kept trying to convince me to get square round, my middle finger was shaped like Gumby I ended up fixing it myself at home. So now I've only had my nails done a week and I've had 3 nails break, this never happens to me, I usually wear my natural nails very long I have for most of my adult life and I'm super careful, but because my nails are so fragile they are cracking. I also have several hangnails I'm sure that's from the sanding and how she did the soaking. Oh I forgot the powder itself is bumpy, but tbh that's the least of my concerns it's really the fact that she did so much damage to my nails I'll basically have to wear them short until they grow completely out. Sorry concept nails I normally wouldn't hold one bad experiences against a place, but there were several other nail technicians who knew she was rushing being chaotic and cutting corners and they didn't say anything! read more

I have known the nail person at Concept Nail for many years. Kim used to be kind and patient. When I went in to show her what happened to the gel she did on my nails, she wanted to place blame on me and I told it I wasn't to blame. She rudely told me to stop talking and said fine it was her fault. Over a week later, 3 other nails started to peel and the wet paint under the gel got all over the grip of my golf club and on a pair of pants. I went back and said remove the gel. She did and repainted my nails, however, she suggested I go to a different nail stylist. She also charged me $13 to repaint. I shouldn't have been charged at all. What nerve and so unprofessional. I really liked Kim, but she is so incredibly rude and won't own up to her own mistakes. Plus she is quick and in a hurry to get you out, therefore, nails do not survive well. They push gel but they don't know how to apply it. In all my years of having my nails done including gel - never have I ever been treated so unprofessionally and disrespectfully. I was at the salon for almost 2 hrs and it wasn't worth the two hours or the $95. They were pushy about getting gel when I just wanted regular polish. Their regular pedicure only includes polishing and cutting down your nails for $30! My nails have look horrible. They are so thin they will probably break in a day . I used to come here all the time before I moved & I was highly satisfied... but I went this past weekend while I was in the area visiting and I have three separate fingers that are cut up at the cuticles. I don't know if someone was just having an off day but the amount I paid for the service I got was not worth it. They just were not gentle with me. I'm not saying do or do not go here.. but if you do, make sure you say ow if they even give you the slightest bit of pain. I thought it was just a quick nip but end up digging into my cuticles. I choose the regular pedicure and manicure done by Christine, she moved quickly, but she didn't make me feel uncomfortable. I polish selection left a lot to be desired, they had a lot of off brands, as I sampled the polishes the majority were "watered down" with acetone, which diminishes the quality of a lasting manicure. $30, for a mani and pedi is great, but the polish is lifting less then 24 hours after my manicure. read more

I only went here because my normal tech at a completely different place was booked. I went there to get a pedicure and fill in w/ a nail repair. Which by the way was supposed to be 2 nails repaired. One of my nails that broke, I glued back on. Instead of taking the nail that I glued on off, she just continued covering over it. Before we started, I told the lady that my nails are ombré pink, then transitions to white and the top. I asked her multiple times would she be able to fill them in. Of course she stated yes. Come to find out, they couldn't do it. Also, my cuticles kept getting dinged while she was buffing my nails. My nails look like a kindergartner did them. I have polish on my skin, the nails aren't even, and I have bubbles forming on the polish. I will not be going back read more

I stopped in to get a pedicure as my normal place/lady was out of town, as this salon is close to home I thought I'd give it a try. I asked for a regular pedicure, as the women continued to ask if I wanted to add on or upgrade to another pedicure, I declined. By the time I put my feet in the water and was under the fan for the polish to dry was 20 minutes! It was a huge waste of money and wish I would have read reviews before coming! I am not happy about this set at all. So unhappy that I'm writing this in the parking lot right after I finished. For starters, they are not clear at all. I called and had one man telling me they take everything off and start over for liquid gel and they charge $45 for a brand new set. I've been searching for a new nail tech so I said why not and went in. Lee then tells me its $45 for a liquid gel refill. I'm sitting in the car looking through their colors which suck (they don't have a good selection at all) then she tells me the powder gel refill is $40 and the repair for a nail was $3 so it's $45¿?. She then corrected herself to $43, but I was still confused since the man on the phone told me powder gel refill was $35. At that point it was too late so I just kept on with the process knowing I wouldn't come back. I actually really hate this sets it's way too bulky for my liking and not crispy enough. She didn't shape all of them nicely either nor did she offer me any refreshments. The atmosphere was not relaxing or updated at all so I won't know what it's so expensive for considering they don't even use OPI or an elite polish brand. Ugh. It's so hard finding a great nail tech in Woodbridge. Yet another disappointment. On to the next one. read more

Oh when I go in there they talk about me ALL the time in their language, it's funny because I'll put it on speaker on my phone so the person (usually my boyfriend) hears them and i say " oh here they go talking about me AGAIN" LOL So if you go there be prepared to be talked about. This place is GREAT -- all the employees are courteous and they obviously go above and beyond for their clients. I came for a manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax 30 minutes before closing and they were able to accommodate me, and were not rushed at all. (The review below also mentions this, so it's not a one time thing!) I had two different nail technicians and both were efficient and careful. The prices are really reasonable, too, compared to nail salons in the DC area -- and the work they did was better than most mani-pedis I've had up there, including ones that were waaay more expensive. Terrible folks, talks in their language to peers when you have a question gossiping about u. I've been a customer for more than five years because they are the only shop in a half mile. My first visit to Concept Nail. The service was for a manicure on my natural nails. My manicure was $12, which I think is very reasonable (my friend pays $30 in Alexandria for a manicure on natural nails). I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait only five minutes. My manicurist did a lovely job, and I'm pleased with how it turned out. I was in and out in about 30 minutes including the time I sat under the ultra violet lights to completely dry and harden the polish. They do accept debit/credit cards but you cannot leave a tip using this method. Bring cash to tip your nail tech. read more

I love Concept Nail so much that I have driven all the way from Maryland and Alexandria to patronize them. They sanitize their equipment after each client/use. The staff take their time to make sure the service is on point and you leave happy. I get my nails done at Concept Nail nail every 3 weeks and also get waxing and lashes as needed. This was my first trip back to the nail salon after COVID-19 reopenings. I made the mistake of not asking what their cleaning procedures were and also not requesting a particular nail tech. I arrive and there wasn't social distancing, enforcement of clients wearing masks, and cleaning. They do have plexiglass barriers between each pedicure chair and on each nail tech station. The techs wore masks, but I walked by and ALL of the clients in the pedicure chairs had their masks off. I went in for a pedicure/gel manicure, so I was there about 1.5hrs and there was no sanitizing of the chairs or desks between clients either. No one wore gloves. Not to mention the nail tech I got, I think is one of the owners-the tall, thin man, is the worst. I had forgotten that he rushes everything and does a poor quality job. My pedicure and my manicure was very rushed. My gel chipped after 2 days. I usually last 3/4 weeks. I should have gone back to get fixed, but honestly I didn't want to go back in there bc they aren't serious about COVID-19 precautions. I hear other techs are better there, so maybe I will try again, but not during COVID. Don't recommend if you are at all nervous. I wish I had spoken up while I was there. I came here because my daughter attends the ballet school next door I asked for a simple color change on my toes I of course saw they were a little busy but I was willing to wait. So I was told David would be doing my toes he rushed me to a chair kind you I have my 5 year old with me but it's a color change right. he's so irritated for no reason like I've never met this dude before and I've never been to a shop that literally has to move me 3-4 with wet toes for cla freaking color change. before David would even tell me his name I had to ask him 2-3 times in order to get a response. I'm not understanding why the rudeness the lady that did my eyebrows prior to was okay but very cold they are very cold ppl j wouldn't recommend coming here because the customer services sucks they maybe okay as far as work but all I have ever gotten was a polish change so I can't say but I most definitely will not be coming back ! read more
