We have had no working fridge/freezer for 2 days with no rush to help, emergency maintenance calls and messages on the weekends go unanswered, and important items are mishandled, resulting in extreme inconvenience and growing expenses. I've tried to reach WPMLA's owner to discuss my concerns with no reply. Property owners are paying a good percentage of their rental income and tenants are paying good rent -- all deserve better service and accountability.

Then, I came across a WHAB listing in Sherman Oaks, contacted the property manager, Brianna, and was able to schedule a self-guided tour that same day. I walked into the unit, absolutely LOVED it, so fresh and updated, I knew I had to put in my application asap. I told Brianna I was applying, and my app was accepted within a few hours after submission!! Brianna was very helpful and knowledgeable and answered all my questions about the lease details. She even offered to hop on the phone with me to explain some things I wanted to ensure I understood. Once lease was signed, I worked with Lauren to submit my final paperwork, security deposit, and get my keys. This whole entire process with WHAB was easy and quick. I appreciate the team's welcoming nature and willingness to give me the time of day to answer any questions I had. I recommend Brianna and Lauren to anyone, and I imagine that WHAB holds the rest of their employees to the same high standards that these ladies have!

For the past 4 years they have all been PHENOMENAL. Before Blackstone, us tenants (in a 5 unit…read morebuilding) were terrorized and abused by our landlord. When she finally gave the reigns to Blackstone, everyone's life in the building changed. Everyone who works at Blackstone knows how to manage a property with professionalism, approachability, integrity and efficiency. If something needed to be repaired, either Anton would come out himself or a trusted vendor would be there the same day. The communication was always impeccable; Gaby and Yuri would always follow through and take care of all/any issues. And a big shout out to Dante, the property supervisor, he handles even the most complicated situations impeccably. Blackstone runs like a smoothly oiled machine and they truly are fair every step of the way doing the right thing on behalf of tenants and property owners. They know the laws and they really do work in accordance with them. What I admire about Blackstone is they know how to deal with particularly difficult property owners and tenants with ease and class to resolve any issues fairly for both parties. For any building owner out there scouting for a management company, look no further than Blackstone. And any tenant who is lucky enough to live in a building managed by Blackstone: count your lucky stars. These guys deserve the recognition they have because they're outstanding every step of the way and outshine any other property management company in LA. If I could give this review 10 stars, I would.

This company is what wrong with the housing market and what will cause the next house crisis, they are bullies. I'm 37 years old. In almost 20 years of renting in LA, I've never been asked for tax returns -- not even when I bought a property. This is ridiculous. Extremely rude, invasive, and discriminatory. I have lived in many apartments all over Los Angeles, usually jumping from one place to another…read moreeach year. Barrington Avenue has been one of the best rental experiences so far. My partner and I lived here for a little over a year but I would have happily stayed longer. I'll start with the cons, because there aren't many! * The walls are a little thin, so you may be able to hear people in the hallways or next door. You'll be hard pressed to find an apartment in LA that doesn't have some noise leakage though, that's just part of city living. Overall, the noise very rarely bothered us EXCEPT..... We lived next to 3 young women and had issues after asking them to keep their noise level down late at night a couple times. I'm talking like 2AM on a weekday. Unfortunately they didn't take kindly to this and got very hostile - from slamming the door in our face, cursing at us through the walls, turning up the noise, and banging on our door randomly throughout the next few weeks in some form of bizarre ding-dong-ditch harassment. They eventually moved out though, and the other residents I've interacted with have all been friendly and polite. I'm only docking a star on an otherwise 5-star living experience here due to the neighbor situation, but no matter where you live, you're rolling the dice on the people around you, so it's not _really_ any fault of the complex. * We lived in a north facing unit which got very little natural light due to the building next door. We often had to keep our lights on all day. (This might not be an issue for some people.) Now to the pros: * The property manager, Frank, lives in the complex so he understands what life is like for residents here! He's constantly improving the place and has been very responsive. In the last year, he's upgraded the bathrooms to use water saving faucets/showerheads, updated the intercom system, done roof and electrical maintenance, and probably more that I'm forgetting! It's great that the building and units are well taken care of. I also appreciated that Frank took issues seriously - such as the aforementioned neighbors. He did his best to remedy the situation and even suggested pursuing legal action when their harassment began escalating. It's heartening to see a property manager who cares about the well-being of the residents. He could have easily brushed us off or refused to get involved. * There's an Amazon locker, which is my favorite amenity. It's so convenient and gives me peace of mind whenever packages are delivered. * The complex is conveniently situated near Whole Foods and plenty of restaurants. I will miss being able to just walk down the block to get groceries and lunch! The area is very safe and clean. * The gym is good for the size of the complex. There are weights and several machines. Perhaps it's because of covid but I've never encountered anyone else at the gym when I've gone. There's also a pool but I've never used it. * Parking is gated. Laundry is in the garage and I've never had an issue with machines being taken. There's also an app you can use to pay which saves you from having to keep tons of quarters lying around! Overall, this is a really great place to live. It's telling that there's no reviews at all on the page yet - people often only write reviews about apartments when they have a bad experience or when management pressures people to leave good reviews. (So, you know mine is genuine haha!) I will definitely miss living here! Another big thank you to Frank for making our experience here great and for all he's done.
