That cinched my decision! As soon as he arrived and tried to pry open the back of my computer, I suggested he take the screws out first. That should have been my first clue. But again, those great reviews.... He took out the power box and we ordered together, a new one. He took my computer home to finish the 'repair' when the new boxe arrived. When he received the new power box, he told me it worked for 5 seconds then the computer again turned off. My original problem was my computer just shut down. So he said it might be the motherboard which he doesn't do repairs on, AND he said 'to tell you the truth, I don't think it'd be worth it to put money into it to fix it." NOTE: My computer is a great computer, above the average home computer. It's 5 years old. I asked him to bring me back my computer with the 2 power boxes, the original one and the new one. He brought it back to me a few days later, no power box installed and only one of the screws to hold the back of the computer was there. :( Long story short, ha, I told him I would be getting a 2nd opinion. The next day I took it to another person and he fixed it within a couple of hours. He said, the place you plug in the power box, the pins were bent and the casing cracked with a small piece broken off. He was able to straighten the pins and get the new power box in and the computer works great! I can assure you, the pins were not bent when Mr. Coppens took my computer.

Saying it may not even be worth fixing because my laptop was old and out dated. I later took it to 99 PC repair and got my laptop back it's working great and I didn't need to buy extra parts and when I asked if I had an outdated laptop 99 PC confirmed it was only a year old laptop. I would not recommend this PC guy at all. Just be honest and say you can't fix it before wasting someone's time and money.

Fast forward to about a month ago where I closed my laptop lid and CRACK - something happens where basically the bezel, back over, and hinge gets damaged to the point where it looks like I ripped it apart when I open my laptop back up. Tried to fix it and somehow made it worse by messing up the screen and man, I've done my fair share of taking computers apart before but I wasn't going to mess with my laptop after this series of unfortunate events. Cue Eric! I reached out to a couple of repair guys for a quote and Eric gave me the best one AND the hope that my laptop could be saved (I had a couple others tell me it wasn't worth the fix; mind you, my computer itself worked fine still - I just had to plug in an external monitor to get anything productive done). He was timely with messages, and even let me know that some parts were missing for repair and ordered it for me. His quote was reasonable in comparison to the cost of a brand new laptop and now that I've had it back for a couple weeks; I can honestly say it feels brand new. Appreciate his quickness and his expertise, would definitely come back for any silliness I encounter with computers down the road. Thanks, Eric!

Asked for a simple JB weld job as I didn't have the JB weld and didn't want to order it and I was…read morewilling to spend $100 bucks to have someone do it. Instead they tried to tell me I need much more expensive repairs. I order the JB weld for $6 and fixed it myself. Now the owner is out $100 and get a bad review for being dishonest. Edit: owner is also a liar trying to defend his dishonesty. I've attached a picture of our conversation in Yelp. Edit 2: oh so you didn't lie about talking to me you just so overwhelmed you couldn't remember all the people that you spoke to which is why you said you didn't speak to me. And you're not dishonest you are incompetent because you had to quote a much more expensive repair instead of doing quick repair. Makes sense considering you are so overwhelmed with business that you would immediately try and push a longer more expensive repair instead of a quick JB weld job. People if you do business with this man you deserve what you get.

Update: I just responded to Jim's private email. This is what he sent me: "10/6/2019, 11:13 AM Jim J. F U!! You are a fucking nutcase! Effing loser!11:13 AM" This is what everyone means that posted a 1-Star review of this man. Go for yourselves and look at the 1-Star ratings. He has been unethical borderline criminal with many. He drinks while working on your computers. The mistakes, broken parts, and shoddy work are inside. He wants to claim that because he is a Trump supporter he is being vilified but beware...this is absolutely false as this is not about political affiliation. One writer stated Jim bragged about being in prison before; others have noted his shady character. I am a teacher with a disabled son of whom Jim took advantage. I will never go back. Just read the 1-star reviews, they speak volumes about Jim, and the funny thing is that although written in different years, they all support each other even though no author of the 1-star reviews knows each other! He also offers discounts upfront for the good reviews, so are they really good? Go do the research yourself before you decide. He was also ranting about his neighbors who were of other ethnic persuasions. He is not a nice person. Jim is not trustworthy as he took advantage of my disabled son. He took the computer which was around $2,000 in the value of the parts and case and destroyed the case and switched parts that were substandard and of lesser value. He did this but claimed he was using Samsung. I have the old emails and photos. He put a cheap part in that failed within a year. My son had to have the computer redone and buy a new case. When I went to pick it up, Jim was drinking vodka (and even offered some!) and appeared to have had too much. I was scared to say anything as he was still working on the computer but was close to being done. I prayed that the computer would be fine. It worked for a short while. But when it stopped and we looked inside, it was horrifying. I am a teacher and expect a higher level of professionalism. Based on his conversations and professing to have been in questionable activities in his younger days when he had his old girlfriend present, I was frightened to go back and deal with him. He sounds nice in the beginning, but in all my years, it was a horrid and terrifying experience. I just decided it was not worth the hundreds of dollars I wasted and just got it right this time by not going to Jim. It really makes me sad to post this but others should examine his work inside the computer to make sure he does not butcher the inside and to make sure he does not give you substandard cheap parts as he did to my disabled son. Never again for us. I believe Yelp is a necessary forum to warn others of problems like this as we all work too hard to get taken advantage of. THIS GUY IS A SCAM AND A RACIST BASTARD. He claims that he has a team that he is working with but clearly he does not. He works alone in his house. I called him to fix my computer and he came to my house first thing in the morning the day after I called. He called me later on saying my computer had a minor problem and it should be fixed by installing a new anti-virus software. He delivered my computer back to my house the day after he said it is "fixed". I tried to use my computer and it seems to have slowed and the problem still exist. I called him right away and his answer was "really?". He told me that he will make an appointment for me, but then I received no calls for 2 days. I called him again and again for days until it has been 2 weeks. Everything I ask for an address, he just tells me to call every other day. I called on the day that he wanted to, he said call me later this afternoon. I called again and he said he will be at his house tonight and he will call me when he gets home. I waited all night and received no calls last night. This morning I finally had the point where I asked for a refund and he said he doesn't give any refund but it clearly says in his website "no fix, no fee". Since I was not born in this country, he also said "go back to where you came from". Unbelievable. This guy should be out of business. He doesn't even let the costumers explain what the problem is. He just says "stop" and do his business. I am writing this review because I am a victim and so other costumers won't be victimized by this horrible person too. read more

I called to ask for a quote for a computer repair but the microphone to my phone wasn't working so I hung up when he couldn't hear me. He called back and I ended the call so my husband could call for me on his phone. Instead, he texted me "Bitch" then when I texted back that my phone is broken, he said "lol." I had my husband call him to talk to him about calling me a bitch and he started threatening him over the phone. Then he texted me saying "I bet you're a liberal too." My husband called him back and said he would find us so he could fight my husband. This man is a trump supporting piece of shit who threatens his customers with violence. Fuck this guy and his business. He made terrorist threats to my husband, myself, and my kids to intimidate me into removing my Yelp review and sent me pictures of him holding his rifle as intimidation. He googled my information and was trying to scare me with his knowledge of my personal info. He lied saying he sold his business but he still answers the phones for them. Not only am I not "old or demented", he had his phone the whole time in his car while he terrorized my entire neighborhood who filmed his manic episodes for 2 hrs. Police verified that along with the fact it was in working order. What he never saw coming is my neighbors mainly consists of Military Personnel, Firefighters & Police Personnel, my husband included. He ran with his tail tucked between his legs like the lying bitch is he...Liar, liar, pants on fire! I caught you trying to sabotage my computer....My husband did not die of old age, as for your reference to Robert (19 yrs) you scared him to death by charging up to his front door to demand to use his phone. As by your own admission you spent 9 yrs in prison & apparently are mentally unhinged. I decided last week on a whim to call Apple Service and ask them to help me wipe my hard drive so I could start again with a clean iMac after owning it for 2+ years and with the Equifax hack and lately malware taking over one of my browsers for awhile. Anyway, it was a dumb idea, since the result was my hard drive didn't show anymore when we got to the screen to re-load El Capitan. I called Jim from Computer Repair of Temecula, and he picked up my iMac and took it into the shop. His Mac technician Dave called me within 30 minutes and asked me if I really wanted to swap out the hard drive with a solid state one since I had a fusion drive and it might not be necessary, anyway. I told him to go ahead and try to fix it and he did. Jim returned the computer to me a couple hours later with El Capitan loaded. I couldn't be happier. Good customer service and great tech work. One note: anyone like me with the more recent Macs (mine is late 2014), the screen is glued to the rest of the computer instead of connected the old way with magnets, so repairing them is difficult. The only recent Mac easy to take apart is the Mac mini. read more

My sister had a few oh... million viruses on her computer for quite a long while and so we had finally thought it wise to get it all scored away and fixed up. Except we were not the brightest tools in the shed and decided to take it to geek squad first, because I have my warranty so I use them for everything, of course the moment we got there they said it would be 200+ dollars to fix the bloody thing. That was to wipe the hard drive with a back up of files and nothing else. Needless to say my sister and I didn't have the time or money to pay for something like that so I went to Google and started searching. She made a call, caught him after hours, but we still were able to take it over and have him check it out. Jim told us the problem and the price then we left the laptop thinking it wouldn't be ready till late the next day but apparently Jim was faster than we thought and he had the laptop ready that night! We were able to drive down and get it then bring it back without any incident and for far less than geek squad would have done. Plus it now has virus protection! read more

Jim is the man! Honest business from start to finish. The quote was reasonable, actually about 50% less than the quotes I received from other businesses in the area. He went above and beyond to provide additional services free of charge. Had issues with dust buildup and overheating in my laptop, and not only did he fix these issues and return the laptop to me in less than 24 hours but he also discovered and removed malware on my pc which was causing it to slow down. I had no idea about the malware, so it was great that he discovered this and addressed the issue especially because he didn't charge me extra for it. You can tell Jim is very experienced with computers, and I would trust him to work on any of my PC's. I will be contacting Jim again in the near future. He provides many great services for great prices and is a friendly and personable guy. No complaints. 10/10 service. read more

i would recommend Jim for your computer repair. He is very knowledgeable and fast!!! I had a problem with my Toshiba laptop, running extremely slow. On Tuesday, August 30th around noon, I called Jim Jenkins and he returned my call within 10 minutes. I just had foot surgery and couldn't take my laptop to Jim, so he offered to pick it up. He picked up my laptop around 2:00pm. That same evening Jim started working on my laptop. Unfortunately, the next morning Jim told me that the hard drive was bad. He then recommended it would be cheaper for me to buy a new one. I needed a laptop desperately and Jim went out of his way to help me get a new laptop. He didn't even charge me for the time he spent taking it apart and discovering the hard drive was bad. He even threw in an antivirus program for free as well as other programs. I am happy to report that a laptop that died of a suspected coffee drowning is now up and running and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. He was extremely professional, communicated well, and had a really fast response time. When I first got the laptop back my fan was running a bit loud (unrelated to what I took it in for) and He was kind enough to check into it and when it died in his care, replaced it for me without any additional fees. He didn't have to do that but he did. Like other reviewers mentioned, He was amazing. He understands how much we all rely on our devices and works really hard to get it back to us asap. TECHNOLOGICALLY CHALLENGED...That is the best way to describe myself when it comes to nursing my baby laptop back to health. I am starting a new business, and became frantic when I could not get my computer to respond to anything. (After my kids were playing on it...it is the summer :-) ) I was able to locate this company and messaged them right away. I received a call almost immediately. Very satisfied with the quality of work that was done on my PC. I don't have much experience with building computers or swapping the parts out so I brought it to someone who does. I had the CPU and GPU replaced as well as additional services like fixing the poor cable management I had and cloning the data on my hard drive and transferring it to an SSD. All of the work was done flawlessly. This is clearly a professional who was worked on computers for 20+ years. He also helped me fix issues with my wifi network and improved my signal throughout my house. Now i can finally stream video on the other side of my house! When my laptop began freezing and then stopped operating, I took the laptop to Computer Repair Of Temecula, a business I had used once before. They told me the cost for identifying the problem, contacted me quickly with the information about repair and costs, and fixed the problem by replacing the hard drive. Because I mentioned that I had not been able to save all my files, they were able to recover and back up everthing so I had access when I picked up my computer. I'm glad I found Jim at CRofT. My hard drive bit the dust and could not boot. I called Jim after viewing his reviews and seeing so many 5 star ratings. Well I am happy I did, he asked me to bring him my computer as I live too far for him to make a house call. Took it to him yesterday, totally dead. He went out of his way to make everything work and called me today (next day) and said it was ready to pick up. I was expecting it to be a couple days wait as he said but not the case was finished the next day and I am writing this on that very computer and it is running faster than when new. Fantastic customer service and great computer repair shop. I had problem with my apple laptop because it was water damaged. I called on Monday morning and they told me to bring the computer as soon as possible. The same day they called me back and they told me they can fix my computer and recover all of my data. I was very happy to hear that. they gave me a very reasonable price to fix my laptop. On Wednesday morning they called me and they told me my computer and my data is ready for pick. We all know that horrible feeling when something gets spilled on the laptop.....multiply that by 2 and you can get an idea the the pain I was feeling. Jim was able to repair my MacBook Pro (Apple store would charge $1200) and provided above and beyond service by replacing the track pad -- twice. In addition, I had unfortunately spilled an entire glass of wine on husband's MacBook (epic disaster). I was trying to update my OS in my MAC and it totally crashed! I use my laptop for college and writing, so needless to say being without it is pretty inconvenient! Like most people I turned to the Yelp reviews, and like all businesses there was one bad review. When I see that I feel like it's the competition! Anywho, I took my laptop to Jim, he was awesome and funny! Always good to deal with people that have a sense of humor! Called Jim for some help with my laptop and some wiring (housekeeping) problems. I was "laid up" for about five months due to some surgery complications and nothing seemed to work correctly. Jim arrived on time the same day. He wasn't able to run the diagnostics for the laptop so he did the housekeeping "stuff" and took my laptop with him for the diagnostics and an updated virus protection software. He brought back the laptop next day (on time again) and confirmed that it was working correctly. He will be my "goto" IT person in SoCal from this point on. I do recommend his services. read more

The other day my computer crashed and I'm not computer savvy, I know just enough to get myself in trouble. This place is near a cleaners that I go to and I really needed to have my computer fixed ASAP so I went in. They were very friendly and attentive, I like that! Once they took a look at it, they explained the problem to me - it was infected with viruses - and they cleaned it up. Now I have my computer back working like normal and I can write this Review. I had an issue with my laptop last night. Frantic, I searched for a repair place. Jim called me back within seconds and when he heard how upset I was, he told me to come over and drop it off. In less than 24 hours I got a different laptop, better than my old one. With all my info on it. I am a single mom, going to school fulltime. My situation is that my computer works fine but I wanted to get it ready for MS Flight Sim 2000 as the hardware requirements have just been published. They offered a free diagnostic and would charge for any upgrades that are required. I brought it in and Henry the owner called me the next day and said the computer is fine just as it is. He did have suggestions for a high refresh rate screen and to be sure to download the game into the SSD rather than the hard drive and to use the DisplayPort of the video card to connect the screen as that is faster than the HDMI port. It turns out he is an ex military pilot as well as an airline pilot and is an avid Flight Sim gamer when he is not actually flying his own plane. How cool is that? So the man knew exactly what my needs are. He suggested some upgrades for the future such as converting the system to an all SSD device. I felt bad that I made them do all that work for nothing and offered to take him out to lunch but he declined. He explained that he views our interaction as building a relationship for the future and a way to grow his business. I would for sure refer everyone I know his way. Could not be happier. In life, one needs a good wife/husband, a good lawyer, a good accountant, a good doctor, a good financial consultant, a good mechanic and a good computer/IT guy. Now I know a good computer/IT guy. Maybe a good therapist too come to think of it.
