Turned out my battery was swelling and upon further examination my hard drive cable was also damaged. He was very upfront and honest about his recommendation to discontinue the repair and let Ol' Bess finish out her days in peace. He got it to where the trackpad was temporarily functioning again (it was sticking due to the swelling battery) and even re-adhered the loose glass to my screen (a separate issue) I appreciate his candor as previously I'd been given the run around by the Apple Store. I was charged a very reasonable price considering Jon was able to get Ol' Bess working just enough for me to retrieve some documents off of her. I ended up ordering a new MacBook Pro and if anything is to go wrong with that one, I'll surely SKIP THE APPLE STORE and go straight to Friendly PC.

Said needed to leave for 2 days to open it up, told him I just want an idea to see if was worth replacing and asked since he has done "Thousands" of these repairs, what the highest cost was? This Business Genius tells me "A Million Dollars". I told him that is F'ing crazy. So this place either does not know what they are doing or they are crooks, either way you don't want your business there. Ended up going to 2 other repair shops and both were able to give a high end estimate. Robert, your response is as ridiculous as your "Million Dollars" quote. I did not get frustrated until you gave an obviously ridiculous answer. Yeah, I shouldn't have said your answer was F'ing crazy, but no other words could describe it. Don;t worry, I found Peace when I went to a professional repair shop that had no issue answering my questions. 3/24/26Worst customer service/customer relations I have ever experienced!…read more Agreed to a "one hour" on-line service, using Schrock Desk, intended to reconnect my email servers, which connection were lost when Cox transferred my account to Yahoo, after the Schrock tech gave me verbal assurances it would be a simple task, taking no more than one-hour, with their minimum fee of $160. When time arrived for the one hour on-line service, the assigned tech was initially unable to find my previously provided account info, so this used part of the one-hour before we even got started. Eventually, the tech said servers were connected, and the job was complete. Since the whole hour had not been used, we proceeded to make the same repair on my second computer, but the tech could not establish the on-line connection. Having failed, but not having fully used the 60 minutes, he suddenly had to leave for another customer. So, Ok., good enough, I thought, the first computer was connected. Soon after, I tried to send an email only to discover my computer was not connected to the server. The following day, I went to the Omaha Schrock physical location to request a review of the situation, only to be told I could either leave my computer at their office and they would get to it in 2 - 3 days, or we could do another Schrock Desk on-line fix, in the near future , for another $160 fee. Having lost all confidence in their service level, and feeling I should be refunded my fee for lack of performance on their part, I asked for a refund. The tech declined my request. I suggested I would then have to ask the credit card company, through which I had previously paid the $160 fee, to assist in my effort to get a refund, by filing a dispute. The tech threatened me that I would be charged with criminal theft if I filed a dispute. Or, I could escalate my complaint to their regional manager. I did escalate and the regional manager timely returned my call by leaving a voice mail message and his telephone number. Subsequent repeated efforts to contact, first, the regional manager, and, then, the owner/President of the company, have been fruitless.

Looking for the right company to assist with restoring my computer to it's original state and ensuring continuity of my data files. Thought I was going to have to send it out of state to one of the bigger data recovery organizations, but got a good recommendation locally. RMS-IT-Services was recommended to me by a software programming acquaintance of mine. The owner of RMS is Mark McCoy and he and I chatted the very next day (Friday) ref what was going on with my computer system. Mark was very engaging and told me he had a tech in the area conducting a service call and would it be okay for the tech to stop by later and look at the computer (absolutely!). Matt was the tech who came to the house. Very knowledgeable and informative. I showed him the items that could be seen that had been changed by the ransomware and Matt went on to explain the possibility that portions of the Windows Registry had been modified as well. Matt went ahead and took the computer back to his office to work on it. Saturday morning I receive a phone call from Matt that he has the harddrive removed and is using his diagnostic equipment to scan for the issues for follow on correction. Sunday morning, Matt calls again and tells me my computer is fixed. Wow. Matt then delivers the computer to me. Absolute tip top service. Wish everything worked this way. Reasonable rates, especially when he came to my home and picked it up and then had it finished quickly. Final cost was for pickup and three hours of work - $65 dollars a hour - A BARGAIN - given what it could have been. RMS website states that the company specializes in Business Continuity Planning (BCP), to include Disaster Recovery, and IT Service Management for Small to medium Sized Businesses. They also provide all aspects of Information Technology from Virus/Spyware removal on Home Computers to the installation and Support of Enterprise Level Networks, Website Development and Support. Oh and NO surcharge for after hours or weekend work - Outstanding While the RMS main office is in Fremont, the Company serves all of Omaha and the surrounding area and their techs will come to you. I would recommend RMS to anyone needing assistance with their computer system.
