Please read, this seems to be a money grab business. I stopped in and talked to a gentleman (not the technician) about my daughters laptop. A relatively simple problem, her laptop stopped connecting to our modem when on the far side of the house, however she can connect when in the same room as the modem. Other house laptops could connect, so it seemed to be her laptop. The gentleman explained some possible problems and said there would be a $45 fee to examine the laptop and this fee would be put toward any repair. Fair enough. My daughter brought her laptop in a few days later. At this point, let me cut to the end for a moment, they ended up giving her a device that fixed the problem. Back to the beginning. The first thing the technician (Michael) did was run a virus scan and said he found over 50 viruses. This is a solely used college laptop which was running absolutely fine until the modem issue. He stated that this should fix the issue. It did not. Here's the kicker, at this point, they are now into us for $130 without fixing the issue. I called that night and again talked to the original "older" gentleman, he said they guarantee their work and they will fix it. My daughter returned the next morning (again nobody at the store for an hour after "opening"). He handed her the "device" - FREE OF CHARGE was the words that curdled my blood. I called immediately and asked what was $130 (with the orig $45 which I can see paying) for. The mumbo jumbo that came out of the "owner" Michael's mouth was staggering and he would not let me talk, just kept droning on and on. I asked "If you had given her the device when she walked in, wouldn't that have fixed the problem"? He replied "Well that's 50-50". So...why wouldn't they try that first? And if it doesn't work, then we proceed? Instead they ran a needless virus scan that he said "They do to all computers.." (Unless I assume you come in with a cracked screen or something). If that's the case, you're out $100+ right off that bat. All I wanted was to connect to a modem - not a virus scan, not an upgrade to Windows 10 "I did that for free" (I can do that for free to on the internet). He said the device is $85 - funny, it's $17 at Staples. It's as if I had a leak in my roof and they decided to paint my fence. Unprofessional, rude and a blatant rip off. There's nothing I can do at this point except learn from the experience and warn others to avoid this place. Bottom line, we paid approx. $140 for a $20 device. Yes, I can agree with paying the $45 diagnostic fee - after that it was pure BS folks. Stay away. Thanks. read more
