Don't ever go here. Extremely unprofessional. No sense of customer service. Usually people sit in front of the desk waiting 15-20 minutes before being helped (when there are at least 5 employees in the store). I only know this because I've been there over 5 times. I had a macbook brought in for service, they quoted me $125 to repair it. When I came back to pick it up, they couldn't find the thing! After 3 visits and 5 phone calls over several weeks, they "found it in their warehouse off site". I arrived at the store to pick up my laptop after 3 months of confusion. The bill was $400. me: "WHAT??? $400? You quoted me $125 when i dropped it off." them: "Ohh, well what we thought was the problem, really wasn't, so we went ahead and replaced your hard drive and fixed the motherboard" me: "I didn't authorize that repair. Had I known that, I wouldn't have had it fixed" them: "Well what do you want us to do now, I can only give you $75 for it" Do NOT go here under any circumstances. Do not buy any of their products, they are overpriced. I eventually negotiated the $400 down to get my computer back. They had it installed with an OLDER version of mac OSX than I originally had. Also, they replaced the battery with an older one that does not hold a charge. They ought to be reported to the Better Business Bureau. In fact, I'm going to do that right now. read more

Ok, I'm a Macster. Why I keep an IBM PC running is just my nerdy secret....shhhhh-don't you tell a soul! I'm a geek in some respects, I admit it. You heard it here. Last week, the inevitable happened. After loading and re-loading all the crap and peripherals that make this thing work, it uttered its last gasp and refused to reboot even just one more time. Since I'd wasted a whole day off (evidence of my devotion to dying technology here- you'll thank me when the apocalypse comes and we can MacGuyver some radio with its parts to communicate with the people who might be left alive...) I gave up and went online for help (with my good computer, silly). I found these guys via an ad on Craigslist for a free diagnostic. Called them up, they said bring it in and we'll see. A couple of hours later, they worked their magic and this baby was up and humming for a song. ($65 bucks). They even said it's actually one of the better PCs they've had in there, so that was a vote of confidence! (My nerd cred is still intact, yo) Short story, nice service with quick turnaround. Would definitely recommend it to you. I'll be back when the next leaf falls and I can't fix it....OH! I should've checked their specs on Yelp first, they have a COUPON! 15% off....make sure you get it before you head over! read more

I live in the area so CGN is one of almost 6 options. I found their service and performance to be well above other area repair places. They do have a very casual, family feel, and there have been times that it has taken a while to find a misplaced cable, etc, but the cost and just that they have a consistent staff make it well worth it. I prefer them to visiting the genius bar at the Apple store since their diagnostic approach is similar and they can actual perform maintenance and repairs, sometimes while you wait. Try to go during off hours. Note: I am an Apple user and can not comment on any specific experiences a PC person may have. read more

I love these guys: love, love, LOVE these guys. I have many computer devices, and I am very clumsy. I am always dropping and scratching and scuffing my machines and last week I dropped my MacBook Pro, shattering the LCD screen, breaking the hinges and denting the case. Fred and Jack repaired my machine (cleaning it in the process to a diamond sheen) in a single day so as not to paralyze my business and for a price less than a crappy Acer netbook. This isn't the first time these guys have 'saved my bacon,' and I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. I don't know if these guys are crooks, or just incompetent. I brought my macbook in with a loose cable causing screen flicker. It worked fine with an external monitor. Leo agreed at the time, and said it would be done in a few hours. He called later and said the motherboard had failed and asked if I had spilled liquid on it. Of course had not. I told him to put it back together and I would come get it. He seemed surprised and said, ok, come by six. He called a half hour later and said Monday at noon. I returned Monday at 1:30, and guess what, it wasn't ready. But a miracle had happened, it was a cable after all! And now the system software needed to be re-installed. It would take another hour to install the cable. I said fine and came back an hour later, still not done. when he finally got it done, he showed me $30 worth of cables, for which he planned to charge me $65, plus $95 for labor. I quibbled over the price of the cable and the manager or owner, not sure which, decided to join the conversation. There was another customer waiting, but he chose to argue with me, saying that they get charged $10 for shipping on those cables. I said, yeah, maybe for the box of 50 that you order at a time, but not each individual cable. I said to him, "look, I don't have a lot of trust in you guys. I bought this in needing a cable, and you tried to sell me a motherboard, how am I supposed to believe anything you say now?" He then argued with me, saying they would never recommend a motherboard, because it was too expensive to replace and no one would pay for that. He also tried to convince me that it is easy to confuse a loose monitor cable with a dead motherboard, and that the fact the computer worked PERFECTLY hooked up to an external monitor did not mean the motherboard was not fried. I informed him I had more than just a little knowledge of computers, and he was full of it. I told him I was willing to pay $40 for the cables, and felt like $95 for labor was a rip-off but I wanted to be done with them. The boss and the tech both continued to argue with me, in front of the other customer who inexplicably had not run out of the store, wallet still intact. I just got it home and am reinstalling the software on it as we speak. Fortunately I have a backup computer. I just read a few more reviews, and it appears they routinely recommend new motherboards. Interesting indeed. I only went to these guys because their website said they are an Apple certified repair center. Somehow I doubt that. I will be contacting Apple with my complaint as soon as I am finished here with this post. Save yourself a lot of time and headache, just go straight to the Apple store. read more

BEWARE BEWARE !!! I've bought 2 I Macs from these people and both the mother boards had problems less then a year. I heard from another store that they get there macs from apple when they they get returned and they don't do much to them. There are better used mac stores out there then this one. When I brought the first one in to get looked at they lost it also and gave me someone else's with missing parts. They never found my original computer and the guy Randy in store tried to accuse me of making it up. "Who's got the time to to that" ! And the owner just hides in the back of the store and avoids coming out when there is a problem- STAY AWAY I am going to report them to Better Business Bureau Also. Free estimate was suppose I take one day. They had the MacBook for over 4 days and I got worried they were doing something shady since every time I called they were always "still looking at it". So I picked it up by surprise and they said that it was not salvageable even thought I could clearly see the light shining from the apple on the computer from the counter. So this 1400 computer was a goner. Did they want me to sell it to them for cheap since it was in near mint condition? Long story, I learned how to fix it for 30 bucks. DO NOT GO HERE. I don't have any more energy to go into all the details of what happened, but these guys are not honest and they do not give good customer service. One thing I will say is that aside from a number of repair issues, we bought a battery here that died after two months. They claimed that was normal - it is not. We also have reason to believe it was actually a used battery. They tried to blame the battery dying on us - that we did not use it correctly. Even though I knew this was BS, I checked the Apple site to see what they recommend in terms of how to maximize battery life and we were well within their guidelines for maximizing usage. Furthermore they said the warranty on this battery was only 30 days. All other batteries I have found have a 12 month warranty. When I asked what brand it was (so I could look it up and see if they were lying) - they didn't know. I asked how they could not know and the person I spoke with said he didn't order it and the person who did wasn't there and he didn't know when they'd be back. And that's not all folks, we brought the computer into Apple and even though these guys claim to be Apple Authorized Service Providers, they gave us an off-brand, non-authorized battery which, according to Apple, could actually damage our computer. We wasted over $300 on a dead computer - avoid this place at all costs. They are not trustworthy and do not know what they are doing. read more

HAPPY TO FIND THEM. Everything goes busted sooner or later and that is what happened to my laptop. I was nerves really really nerves with all the dead lines and I did not know when or if I will be up and what about my DATA. They were nice and understanding over the phone they told me they look at my laptop and give quick evaluation while I am waiting since I had dead lines and that is what they did. Bought an iMac here a little over a year ago, and one day it just died. Bring it in, explain what happened, and a week later they call to say the hard drive, super drive, and memory are all dead. It would've cost more than the computer was worth to fix it. I've been using Apple products for 22 years, currently have 4 Macs at my home business, and I have never heard of such a systematic failure. I decline the fix, but when I went to pick it up, they tried to charge me for the repair even though it hadn't been done. Miscommunication ? When the boss looks at the write-up he says I must have had a power surge - no I've got 4 other computers, and a recording studio. The entire system is on several levels of surge protection, and balanced power. Couldn't be safer. By the time I got home the manager called and offered to fix it for half-price. Gee, that makes me feel better. . . . How about standing behind your products a little ? Not sure what's going on there, but I suspect they're buying up broken computers and rebuilding working models fro resale. trust me- run. i have a mac laptop (old G4) and they had it for over 2 weeks to fix a fan and install memory. when i went to pick it up, it wasn't ready and there was some new problem. this happened not once, not twice, but three separate times. they claimed that I had a "software issue" and after the first issue i balked and they gave me a loaner laptop. when i explained why i was upset with the service, the one guy who works the front (longer hair) accused me of trying to "take advantage" of them bc they were a "mom and pop" store and that I would have never complained had I been working with apple. uh no, I think you've been sitting behind a screen too long buddy. lots of asperger's flavor individuals going on here. go anywhere else. literally, anywhere would be more helpful. read more

My first experience with them was meh. I bought some ram, got home and installed the ram only for it to fail a week later bringing my entire system to its knees. They were kind enough to replace the ram for free. However, when I brought my iPad in for a screen replacement That is a different story. The seal and metal body of the iPad looks like they used a crowbar to remove the broken screen. The edges are rough to the touch and the screen falls off. It looks like they broke the seal the wrong way and tried to repair the screen with double stick tape. My mind is blown at how shotty this work was. As convenient as it is to go my neighborhood Mac repair guys, I refuse to go back. It's shameful that they allowed me to pay $125.00 for this pile of junk repair job. I have called them twice and left voicemails in regard to fixing the screen again and they never return my calls. I also brought in two iPhones to sell for parts and they have basically stolen them at this point. I highly suggest looking elsewhere before going here. it seems like there are some wildly disparate reviews for CGN on yelp so i feel compelled to write about my experience yesterday. i found out about this place because my friend bought his girlfriend a used macbook he found on craigslist here in december and had a good experience with them - computer worked well, he got a good deal, everyone is happy. its looks a little like a rundown auto shop when you walk in (boxes everywhere, sort of disorganized) but don't be fooled - its actually a really good place to get a used mac (the best i've found in LA after looking around pretty extensively and wanting to buy from a certified retailer rather than from a stranger.) i killed my macbook with a spill (ack) last week and had to replace it fast. i dealt with randy and explained that i needed a macbook that was fast/strong enough to deal with my music software. he was dealing with about 3 other customers at the same time, but was attentive to my concerns, showed me a couple of used macbooks (which were less than half of the cost of a new one), and we settled on one that was mostly what i needed - and could be easily modified. i expected the upgrade to take 3 days - it took three hours and the labor was surprisingly inexpensive. i walked out of there the same day with a souped up used macbook with a three month warranty from apple. i found the service to be quite good and prices to be cheaper than elsewhere - so i wanted to weigh in on yelp. my friend and i both had very good experiences here. i recommend it. read more

Furthermore, I just took my hard drive to them as it was not reading on any computer and within a matter of hours I got a call that my drive was repaired and working again at a price cheaper then I was originally quoted. Very inefficient and incredibly ridiculous pricing. Despite the fact that I was told I would receive my computer in two to three days, I didn't receive it and have yet to receive it after three weeks. In addition, they wanted to charge me $300 for a simple recovery on top of additional charges that were unjustified. So i brought my macbook pro for repairs as he lcd screen went bad they quoted me roughly 300 for labor and parts but few weeks later than promised after 3 visit to their store i finally recieved that something else was broken that anoher 150 wud be charged ok the bill is no problem but as this was right before new years i went away for month and my comp been there about a month last week i called in to check on the status of my comp they claim that they no longer have it tha they cant keep cpmputers in their storage forever. But not only bad service with rude attitude they claim they will give me a similar model for 675 so long story short these people are scam artists. And im basically buying my own computer or even worse condition back with 275 more thant it wouldve cost me to get mine repaired and back?
