Considering all of the glowing reviews for this business, I'm thinking I must have caught them on a bad day. My Macbook Pro was giving me a message that the battery needed service. I requested a quote via Yelp and got an almost immediate response, which I appreciated. Kevin said they'd have to see it to know what was wrong. I brought it in and Koal told me they'd get right on it and would even expedite it. Because it was a Friday afternoon, I was prepared to wait, but Koal assured me they'd get back to me later that evening or the next morning. I had to call the next day. No answer, but Kevin called me right back. He didn't know anything about my computer, telling me he was "between games." He said he'd check with Koal about the status and get back to me. He did, 3.5 hours later! He told me they were "confounded" and needed more time to figure it out. Since the computer was still working, I arranged to pick it up (at a gas station, where I had to wait 15-20 minutes for Kevin). While very polite and apologetic, he seemed evasive. He repeated that they were "confounded" and needed more time, but assured me they were confident they could fix it (how, if you don't know what's wrong?). He encouraged me to bring in the machine the following week. Not feeling good about our interaction, I found someone else who told me over the phone that I just needed a new battery. That was, in fact, the solution. I much prefer that a merchant be honest with me. In this case, I think no one at Computer Doctor had a chance to look at the Mac and Kevin was stalling by saying they couldn't figure out what was wrong (which caused me to worry unnecessarily that I had a serious problem that might not be fixable or would cost a lot of money). Considering the outcome, this is better than thinking they couldn't see that it just needed a new battery. read more

After a power outage, our home computer just simply did not want work as it used to. My husband called the Computer Doctor after looking at the positive Yelp reviews. They actually told us someone could come right out, but we were actually heading out the door to run some errands. So we arranged for someone to come out the next morning. They were on time and fixed our computer in no time. I wish my husband would have gotten the guys name, but he did not. I'm the IT guy for our family. Unfortunately, I was out of state when the custom desktop I built for my computer-dependent dad decided to corrupt it's windows install. Windows would hang and never boot to a desktop. Multiple attempts to recover windows failed, and trying to get my dad to create a windows install USB drive were beyond his willingness to comprehend. I also couldn't have him buy a disc because they are not sold by MS anymore and sending him a USB drive would be too much downtime. So basically, I needed someone to do a fresh install of windows, install graphics drivers, configure the 3-monitor setup and that was it. I looked around SLO and SB county for someone near Pismo Beach, but nearly all the computer repair businesses that seemed reputable were closed on the weekend, except for Computer Doctor. When I called Kevin and explained the situation he understood, gave me a quote, and was available in about ~2hours from when I called on a Saturday. He arrived at my dad's house, texted me that he arrived, performed the work, and then texted me when he finished and that everything went smoothly. Literally couldn't have been a better experience. We have two PCs and a MAC all misbehaving and giving us fits. We called Kevin who came to our home on a Saturday afternoon. 6/26/14 my cpu went nuts on me, I couldn't use it .I went into hp? and did a refresh Wrong thing to do. All my files were taken out and nothing worked. Koal and Kevin are the best. They had my computer for a week due to Memorial Day weekend. That part was really hard for me. They were determined to make my Dell desktop new again as it was less than one year old. How did this happen: Windows 10 forced a 2-hour update one evening and the next morning I had a black screen. I tried all the usual stuff but Win 10 doesn't offer a "restore to a certain point" anymore, only a complete reset. At least that was all I could get out of it and decided to take it in. We moved to Lompoc in March so we had no clue who to go to, so we believed in the reviews and took a chance with Computer Doctor. This was a big change for our office as our six computers were not networked properly and I wanted to install a server computer. I got a virus on my computer. It would not even boot up or load windows. Kevin took it for a few days, and when he gave it back to me, everything was there. Well I just want to say that everyone should use the Computer Doctor! I had a defective laptop screen. I took it to another place in the area before Computer Doctor. I had such a bad experience with it, that I was giving up on getting it fixed. That place had terrible customer service, kept my computer for about a month, and never would call you when you asked them, then they had the nerve to ask me to pay for the part before it came in or got fixed, they were sure it was coming and this was a month in, I was giving them a chance because someone recommended them to me. I finally went in took it back and they kept saying over and over the part is coming. The part never came. This was in May. I finally took it to Kevin at the Computer Doctor in Aug. He had the computer fixed in less then a week, got the part the other place couldn't get in 4 days and brought it to me house, when I said I would go pick it up.
