The cost would be over $300 for a new hard drive + another $100 "if" he could recover photos off the old drive. I picked my computer up to take it elsewhere. It was still unassembled!!! I was told "don't lose the parts they're hard to find" But he couldn't be bothered to put the computer back together & return it to me in the same condition I brought it in to him. He was very rude when I said I didn't want him to replace the hard drive. The hard drive wasn't bad it turns out & my photos + music that was unrecoverable are still on my computer!!! The two guys that operate the business have been nothing but helpful to me. They have always managed to get my systems back and running after my self-inflicted screw-ups. Kerry(?) was able to diagnose a simple fix for the last visit, had the computer back running with a clean Windows install on a new disc I had installed myself. Computer was ready for pick-up in 24hrs and the bill was the minimum $115 charge. If you need help with your computers go see CC , they are knowlegable and don't rip you off. I hired CEG in the spring for my studio's urgent digital maintenance needs. I paid $1,000 for a…read more"full assessment" and a recommendation for a new RAID system (a $10K+ emergency). The service was an absolute failure: Zero Urgency & Unprofessionalism: It took MONTHS--not days--to get an equipment estimate, despite being hired for quick response. There were constant delays, missed deadlines, and all-around poor communication. Hidden Fees & Massive Overcharge: Their final quote was a shocking $19,000--nearly double the initial estimate. A closer look revealed an undisclosed, hidden surcharge on all hardware, and $1,600 more than B&H Photo for the main RAID system. Rude Management & Illegal Practices: When I called to question the surcharges and ask for my $1K fee back, the supervisor was rude and condescending, defending the "normal" surcharges. Admitted to Illegal Recording: Most alarmingly, the person I was speaking with admitted on the call that he was illegally recording the conversation without my consent, only stopping the recording midway through. As California is a two-party consent state, this is a clear violation of state privacy laws and demonstrates a complete disregard for ethical and legal business conduct.
