My price ended up being much less than the quote because my fix was so simple and so fast! I got my computer back the next day. (I low key also thought there was a possibility of a virus, but luckily that wasn't the case). The service here is top tier and I'm so happy to have my computer back! I should note that I pay annually for the place I purchased my computer to fix it and I went out of my way to come here, so it's definitely worth it. Just to mention my issue, my computer wouldn't shut off completely when I would shut it off. Like it would look like it was off but my tower lights would still be on as well as my fans. Then it would randomly just shut off in the middle of gaming. And then it wouldn't turn back on unless I completely shut the power off. So I'm happy it's fixed before more damage could be done. He also taught me a little about my computer as well which was very helpful.

The young man answered all my questions (sadly I don't remember his name), he was great. I went back to Paloma and made my purchase. I decided on getting the 1 year Geek Squad warranty which includes the info transfer and tech support for one year. I got a great deal on my new laptop. I then took it to Geek Squad for the transfer. Today I went to pick it up and their tech, Josue, spent time with me showing me what had been done. He was patient with me as I asked several questions. I'm pretty good at doing my own trouble-shooting, but I was in fear that the worst thing had happened, and that my OS got clobbered somehow. Here it is - a Sunday - and I NEED this thing. I was so happy to find that Jeff answered the phone on the second ring. He was able to talk me through a deeper examination and we determined that, indeed, I was looking at file corruption. His suggestion was to try and system restore - something I had never done before (it's easy but not something I would just randomly try on my own). It took almost 2 hours for the restore to complete, all the while I was freaking out because I'm realizing that if it's caught in an endless loop, I am risking that it will never restore and that I'll need an expert to try and get my existing off this thing (my back up hard-drive is in NJ!!!!) I was lucky! The restore worked. And, I have Jeff to thank for getting this back up and working.
