A cozy atmosphere, you may be asked to share a couch with another group. The drinks were nice, but the sticky toffee pudding was the highlight. The service was good, our server was very knowledgeable of the drinks.

Bar Prequel is easily our favorite bar in the city, so it was inevitable that we'd be checking out Compton Ave at some point. We managed to snag an early reservation on a recent Friday evening, which turned out to be a very fortuitous decision. The joint has unadvertised happy hour specials, which meant we were able to start our evening off with two extremely affordable (and extremely delicious) martinis. We had several other drinks, and they were all amazing. We also ate quite a few items, and they blew us away too: I'm a big Scotch Egg fan, so obviously we had to start with that ("Sage & onion stuffed pork, black garlic aioli, smoked hay"). It's so good. It has all the flavors and textures you associate with the venerable dish, but it's elevated by superior preparation (and presentation) and a distinct flavor profile. Fried Brussel Sprouts ("Maple & dijon, radish, fennel, puffed tapioca"): Again, a very traditional dish that's been enhanced by some seriously creative cookery. We gobbled this dish up right quick. Cottage Pie Croquettes ("Beef cheek, potato purée, herb aioli"): I love a good croquette and these were easily among the best I've ever had. They've got that irresistible crispy exterior and the pillowy, smooth interior. It's so damn good. Finally, we had to get some dessert, so we went with the Sticky Toffee Pudding ("Salted caramel, caraway ice cream"). At this point, would it surprise you if I said it was one of the best versions of this dish I'd ever had? It was a perfect end to an absolutely incredible experience. Our server was great, as well, and I love the dimly-lit ambiance in there. Compton Ave is absolutely now my second favorite bar in the city. It's fantastic.

I didn't get to try the food but it looked wonderful! Lots of friend things though so if you're heading healthy it might not be the vibe. The cocktail menu was so extensive and creative. I'm someone that like to make cocktails at home and there were so many here that I knew would be difficult to make at home. That always gets me excited about a menu. Not only were the names, but the cocktails we tried were delicious I also love that they have spirit free ones because there are so many people in my life now who are not drinking alcohol. Our servers were so on the ball and so friendly. And then, obviously the ambiance is stunning. We went for the holiday one and it was so gorgeous inside. I felt so fancy.

If you're looking for a little taste an eclectic London bar, you'll find that at Compton Ave. After a recent visit to Toronto, I'm still thinking about my experience. From the sexy & dark interior, a high end take on British bites, delicious cocktails, different seating options and friendly staff - there's a little something for everyone. I definitely recommend coming in early for their martini hour (discounted tinis), and ordering some snacks. We stopped by without a reservation and we initially had to wait in their bar top standing area until seats became available. + fish & chips + steak with Diane sauce + scotch eggs + cottage pie croquettes + any & all the martinis or gin based cocktails

Bad & Bougie. Dundas's best kept secret. This venue is beautiful but tiny. They have a list of signature cocktails and a great set up and I have to say I LOVED the music. The amount of old school music I heard - took the cake.

Every time I come here, I still think about a drink that's no longer on the menu. I've tried showing them photos and asking if they could recreate it, but it never quite tastes the same. I guess every bartender has their own way of balancing flavors. The cocktails here are beautifully presented. Out of the ones we tried, I liked the one served on the large round plate the most -- both visually and in taste. This time, I also tried the colorful cocktail with cotton candy that everyone talks about. Some people say it tastes amazing, others say it reminds them of soap. Personally, I didn't get that "soapy" taste, but it was definitely on the sweeter side. If you only order that one, it might feel a bit overwhelming. It's very pretty, though -- I found myself alternating sips with other drinks to balance it out. Everyone's taste is different, but I personally prefer cocktails that are more refreshing, slightly sweet with a bit of acidity. The ambiance is great -- dim, stylish, and perfect for photos. It's a fun place to visit, especially if you're looking for creative drinks and a unique atmosphere.

After a short uber ride we were pleasantly surprised by the cool decor, ambiance and service. We immediately noticed the BBQ tower - decided we had to give it a try. Not disappointed-- it was delicious - so much variety cooked to perfection! Cool sauces like espresso BBQ and hot sauce were zippy and flavourful. I had the Caesar, one in our group had the turkey burger, another brisket and the tower shared by 2. All were very good. In fact one of our BBQ aficionados said the food was better than famous Dallas based Terry Blacks! Our server was on the ball and friendly. I agree with some of the other reviews, this is a must-eat place in Toronto.

The restaurant itself is beautiful with very high ceilings yet still felt cozy. We were given a table for two situated the very end of a long couch that had a high arm rest. Hubby sat in a chair directly across from me. We ordered the roasted pear salad to start. It was good albeit a bit overdressed & I didn't find much gorgonzola in it. For the main, we had the pitmaster platter which consists of pork ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, fried chicken and cheddar jalapeño sausage accompanied with French fries and pickles. We also ordered the jalapeño cheddar cornbread and collard greens. Unfortunately, both the brisket and ribs wasn't tender enough to have a melt in your mouth experience. It was a bit dry which was unfortunate since the flavors were delicious. The pulled pork & sausage was good with the fried chicken being our favorite out of the meats. Both sides were fantastic! My dining experience could have been better. The high arm rest was in my way from cutting into my food. I had to sit on an angle to avoid this. The meat platter was half covering our plates... while the table for 4 beside us sat empty for the entire time. With a bit more attention to the temperature of the meat & the comfort of the dining guests, this place could be so much better. We had several people ask us afterwards if we would recommend the restaurant & sadly, we cannot at this time.

Located at Ossington & Dundas, this spot is perfect to chillax or catch up with friends. The restaurant is just right to accommodate large groups, but you would have to make a reservation as most of the seats are 2 seaters/bar seats. They have a lot of unique cocktails available to go with your meal, but if you want mocktails, you can get a customized one for just $5.50 too ~ If I had to say, all of the food I've tried was delicious, but here are some of my favorites. - Noodles ($11): Their soft Chinese cut ribbon styled noodles is topped with their in-house special beef paste. - Opium Chicken ($13): Their Taiwanese style chicken is seasoned well and made out of dark boneless meat that's marinated in their special recipe for hours. - Veggie and beef dumplings ($8.50 each): The dumplings are always made fresh in house without MSG. Getting them pan fried adds the perfect crispy texture! (+0.75). The owners who are usually working were very friendly to us. We had a good chat and I can really tell how passionate they are about this business. I highly recommend checking this bar out if you visit downtown Toronto!

Way exceeded my expectations. We started with a corona zero and ranch water (passion fruit flavour) we were both really happy with it. The didn't skimp on the tequila. We started with the Brussels sprouts which is always a great choice from here. Crispy on the outside and not an overwhelming Brussels sprout taste. This is likely because there is a generous sprinkling of grated parm and a great amount of dip. We tried the crispy tuna sushi. The tuna was beautifully marinated, so flavourful. And the sushi was nice and crispy. The vodka pie was a seasonal item and when we saw it listed, we knew we needed to try it. The sauce- amazing, the press was nice and flaky and light and really tasty. And the soccer Sada added nice saltines and flavour without being too overwhelming. For happy hour, the apps and pizzas were $5 off, and the ranch water was $5. I'd come back for the pizza alone! Jeans was our waitress and she was great!
