I've been meaning to try Compton Ave for a little while now and when they had their Christmas pop up, A Christmas Carol, I just had to go. Went here with a group of 6 of my friends and we pretty much ordered everything on the holiday menu. It's got a very old English style look to the place and was very tastefully decorated. For drinks we got the berry christmas (which they can also make non-alcoholic), jingle all the way (clarified), home alone, crosby's hot cocoa, cafecito, and muffin mans old fashioned. My friends loved their drinks. My cafecito and old fashioned were both stirred drinks and had the perfect Christmas flavor to them. I would go back again to try their regular menu next time. read more

Good vibes, good cocktails, good food! 5/5 An immersive cocktail bar that had immaculate vibes during the holiday season. Decked out in holiday decor it was a beautiful time! Made resos way in advance to the holidays, got seated at a large sofa booth and had to share the table/ seating with another party. Not an issue at all! It's cozy and nice in there but boy, was it dark! I really couldn't see the menu with their small candle light and had to use my phone flashlight instead (haha!). Perhaps should get menu lights so patrons can see what they can order. We got a variety of cocktails to try which were all delicious and so different/ tasty. Also got a bunch of tapas share plates for the table as well. Here's what we got: Fried brussel sprouts 5/5 - Crispy, sweet and salty. Cooked with maple and dijon, topped with fennel and puffed tapioca. Great sharing vegetable dish. Scotch egg 5/5 - Never had a Scotch egg before and loved it. It's a soft boiled egg in the middle, coated with sage and onion stuffed pork and has a fried exterior. The mix of textures really had a delicious mouth feel to it. Hickory smoked olives 5/5 - Can't go wrong with olives, especially when they are smoked and topped with some citrus and herbs. Grilled steak diane 5/5 - A Picanha steak, with mushrooms, worcestershire, brandy, cream and apricot. The sauce that came with this steak was the winner of it all. Delicious, well balanced flavours. Everything here was really well cooked with delicious flavours all around. Dishes are tapas style so you can expect them to be small and shared. Receipt came in a cute envelope with a sealed stamp - the details were great! Can't wait to come back here to try more things in the future! read more

Great atmosphere, lovely interior and great drinks and delicious appetizers. Service was punctual despite the busy time of the year. Only downside, the bar isn't very big. So if you cannot find a couch or chair or even high chair to sit at the bar, you might have to stand. Can get very crowded. read more

Bar Prequel is easily our favorite bar in the city, so it was inevitable that we'd be checking out Compton Ave at some point. We managed to snag an early reservation on a recent Friday evening, which turned out to be a very fortuitous decision. The joint has unadvertised happy hour specials, which meant we were able to start our evening off with two extremely affordable (and extremely delicious) martinis. We had several other drinks, and they were all amazing. We also ate quite a few items, and they blew us away too: I'm a big Scotch Egg fan, so obviously we had to start with that ("Sage & onion stuffed pork, black garlic aioli, smoked hay"). It's so good. It has all the flavors and textures you associate with the venerable dish, but it's elevated by superior preparation (and presentation) and a distinct flavor profile. Fried Brussel Sprouts ("Maple & dijon, radish, fennel, puffed tapioca"): Again, a very traditional dish that's been enhanced by some seriously creative cookery. We gobbled this dish up right quick. Cottage Pie Croquettes ("Beef cheek, potato purée, herb aioli"): I love a good croquette and these were easily among the best I've ever had. They've got that irresistible crispy exterior and the pillowy, smooth interior. It's so damn good. Finally, we had to get some dessert, so we went with the Sticky Toffee Pudding ("Salted caramel, caraway ice cream"). At this point, would it surprise you if I said it was one of the best versions of this dish I'd ever had? It was a perfect end to an absolutely incredible experience. Our server was great, as well, and I love the dimly-lit ambiance in there. Compton Ave is absolutely now my second favorite bar in the city. It's fantastic. read more

I didn't get to try the food but it looked wonderful! Lots of friend things though so if you're heading healthy it might not be the vibe. The cocktail menu was so extensive and creative. I'm someone that like to make cocktails at home and there were so many here that I knew would be difficult to make at home. That always gets me excited about a menu. Not only were the names, but the cocktails we tried were delicious I also love that they have spirit free ones because there are so many people in my life now who are not drinking alcohol. Our servers were so on the ball and so friendly. And then, obviously the ambiance is stunning. We went for the holiday one and it was so gorgeous inside. I felt so fancy. read more

If you're looking for a little taste an eclectic London bar, you'll find that at Compton Ave. After a recent visit to Toronto, I'm still thinking about my experience. From the sexy & dark interior, a high end take on British bites, delicious cocktails, different seating options and friendly staff - there's a little something for everyone. I definitely recommend coming in early for their martini hour (discounted tinis), and ordering some snacks. Bad & Bougie. Dundas's best kept secret. This venue is beautiful but tiny. They have a list of signature cocktails and a great set up and I have to say I LOVED the music. The amount of old school music I heard - took the cake. read more

One of my favourites in Toronto now! This place has great cocktails (come for the martini happy hour!) and great high quality pub food. The ambiance is the highlight - super fancy British pub playing (ironic) west coast hip hop. So much fun!! read more

Nice relaxing ambiance, the space is equipped with large comfy couches and some bar space. Visited for their martini special and would highly recommend their drinks. The service was friendly and the staff checked in on our table a couple of times. read more
