My laptop decided to give up the ghost after several years- ironically, on the VERY day I was…read moreplanning to download all my photos onto a hard drive. It started with my taskbar freezing, then disappearing. After a hard reboot, I had a blank screen. Not being terribly computer savvy, I tried several times over the next few days to restart the computer and would get a message while it was going through its startup cycle, but then it would just cycle endlessly or eventually display a blank screen. After multiple attempts at internet fixes using my phone, I took the computer to a local repair shop, but it was too severely corrupted to repair. The proprietor did take out the hard drive and reinstalled Windows 10, and also gave me a business card for Cascadia Data Recovery. I decided to go ahead and try the service, because they advertised a set rate with no payment if no data was recovered. I called Cascadia and spoke to a very helpful person who detailed how to send my corrupted drive to them and what to expect. I was sent instructions and a shipping label via email as well. A couple of days after I shipped the drive, Cascadia sent me a message that my data was recovered, and included a view-only attachment that showed the names of the recovered files. Everything was there! I was given the option to pay the fee at that time if I wanted to continue with the data recovery, as well as to have the data downloaded to a new external hard drive (for the cost of the drive- they will not accept one from the customer). I paid the fees via credit card and was shipped the drive shortly afterward. I couldn't be more pleased with the service and customer care I received. I have recommended Cascadia to a few people already and will continue to do so!

When our hard drive died we were kind of at a loss. It was the middle of a bad week ( fender…read morebender, My dad in hospital, handful of other crap). Was it dead or only mostly dead? Would we recover our stuff? Our pictures that we foolishly had not printed or backed up. Hubby searched on the web, I posted questions here. Hubby was pretty sure we needed a clean room to recover our data.Hubby knew this because it was making scary noises and he is a software guy. I just go with what he says, I'm a technically challenged social work type. I smile and nod or frown as needed. In a web search for Portland hard drive recovery hubby found Stentorian Data, a local outfit. Steven Lloyd came to our home, picked up the whole PC, took it with him, diagnosed the problem...indeed it was a physical drive failure that required clean room work, shipped it to a place in CA that does the clean room thing, and about a week later we had a new hard drive with all the data restored fully installed by Steve back into the PC. Everything back to us as it was, well better really. He brought it back to our home, too. The cost? Most was for the lab, Steve's labor costs were totally reasonable. He was efficient and professional and we are satisfied with the outcome. Whew. Disaster averted. Hubby would have been really hard to live with if the outcome had been otherwise, so I'm pretty darn relieved.

He says he got all my files off but he can't restore my drive, so he was going to come over and just put my files on my computer. He cancelled the appointment where he was going to do this, then we were out of town for two weeks. When I came back, I called him to make another appointment, and he has not returned my numerous messages, on email, messaging, phone or otherwise. He has my two drives, and I have one of his with some of my files that I cannot open successfully (which is why we needed to redo all this. He was supposed to be bringing me the files in a format I could open. I want to return his drive to him, and get my two drives back. I finally went to his downtown office during business hours. He was not there. I called him from the office to let him know I am pursuing this. I just want a return call to see what's happening and to get my equipment back. I'll have to call the police to get him at his home, if I can find him. BTW, I left him very respectful messages, told him I wasn't angry, and begged him to call me. That was true then. Not so much now.

We needed a drastic…read moredata recovery, and had gone to two previous places before that weren't able to provide the service we needed. We were referred to NeuralEarth as "the people who can get it done". We needed expedited service, and when we walked in, the folks there literally took the drive out of our hands and started working on it immediately. Within 12 hours, we had a diagnosis, and within 48 hours, we had the recovered data. This was a LIFESAVER. Yes, you will pay more money for services like this, but compared to other places we tried (and that couldn't provide the services in the time we needed), this was so very worth it. The folks at NeuralEarth are dedicated, very knowledgeable, and all-around awesome. I can't thank them enough. If you need critical data recovered, you won't find better than NeuralEarth.

It had…read more*everything* on it--notably a slew of documents, all my photos, etc., most of which was irreplaceable. After several months of agony, I took it to Adrian at Bridgetown Electronics Repair (who had just helped me with a broken smartphone). He was not optimistic, since it appeared that the hard drive itself was the problem. After some discussion, I agreed with his suggestion to send it to NeuralEarth. I got a phone call from NeuralEarth the next day to let me know they had my drive and we discussed their process, what kind of expectations were realistic for me to have, etc. Their $50 fee for an initial diagnosis would be applied to any additional work I agreed to following the diagnosis; of course I agreed to that! They called me sooner than I'd expected to say that, yes, the problem was the drive itself but they were confident they could get most, if not all, of my data! The quote for the Tier 3 recovery was $600 (about which I gulped, then agreed to--after all, any recovery was more than I'd have otherwise!) and, as I was going to need a new hard drive anyway, I agreed to have them go ahead and get me a better-than-average model for an additional $67.99. I just had my final phone call with them. The only files they weren't able to recover were my operating system (which was not a surprise but also no loss, since it can easily be downloaded and installed to the new drive) and a few system files that were also of no use to me otherwise. At this point, my new drive will be delivered to Adrian to reinstall in my desktop box. Although I would--of course--have preferred to pay less for the work, I could not be more pleased, and cannot recommend NeuralEarth more highly!
