Got to the office at 8:25, assuming they were open already and since my son was a new patient I wanted to make sure we got everything taken care of. Door is locked, go back to the car and check online, they open at 8:30. Fine, no big deal. 8:32 comes, get out of the car again, door is still locked. Our appointment is in 8 minutes. So we stand outside, in the 27 degree weather and proceed to wait another 3 minutes before the receptionist pulls. She sees we have been standing there, no apology or anything for clearly being late. We get in the office, it takes another 5 minutes for her computer to get up and running. She checks us in. Then, we continue to wait for almost 10 additional minutes. She calls me back up to the desk and says "did you book your appointment online?" I said yes. She says "well it's my boss' fault, but the provider can't see you because she only sees children 9 and up. It's my boss' fault." I ask if there is another provider that sees children younger than 9. She says yes but we can't be seen until Thursday. And again tells me this is her boss' fault. No apology or anything, just interested in blaming her boss. First off, how completely UNPROFESSIONAL to respond that way. Second, overall horrible experience. I will never come back here.

So ten years later when I was experiencing some discomfort with a cartilage piercing, I returned to her office. COMPLETELY different experience. Both Dr. Greenfield and Dr. Fu made outrageously dangerous calls on how to treat my "infection." After giving it a once over and never having a culture sent out for testing, Dr. Greenfield said I had such a serious infection that I would have to have nurses come to my home and give me intravenous drugs through a port that I would have to have put in my chest. I thought this was extreme, so I went to Dr. Fu for a second opinion. She seemed very surprised by both the diagnosis and the fact that nothing had been swabbed and tested. So at first, I was relieved. But then, she herself never took a sample for testing! She never even LOOKED at my ear! All of her guesses were done from across the room without ever even examining me. She put me on a string of antibiotics and steroid creams to kill the infection, and when nothing changed--except me having such a strong reaction to them that I vomited on the side of the highway and was having trouble breathing--she said that I must have been allergic to the type of metal and would have to take them out. Not only is taking the jewelry out when there is an infection present against every bit of professional advice out there--because the hole will close up and not allow the wound to drain--but her assumption that I was allergic also didn't make sense. It was the same type of metal I'd been wearing for ten years everywhere else. I knew it was time to leave when Dr. Fu said I could "make a statement some other way." What statement? I just liked the way it looked. I couldn't believe that she would be so judgmental. So after all that, I went to another doctor who actually sent out for lab testing and did a close examination of my ear. He said it never was infected! Turns out all I needed was some sea salt soaks and antibacterial soap, and the mild swelling went down! I would NEVER go to Dr. Fu or Dr. Greenfield again. And if you value reasoned, objective thinking in your dermatologist, I suggest you avoid them as well.

I had an intense mole removal procedure during which she left in the middle of the procedure to go get a glass of water. I was left in the room with a hole in my chest while listening to the assistant complain about not getting her lunch break. After my procedure healed, I was left with a giant scare that other dermatologists said was unacceptable.
